Mark, you're lucky to have a mate that isn't too busy painting her fingernails and toe nails that actually wants to do her job of helping you with dock lines and what ever needs to be done. It's really nice to see you both actually enjoying yourselves boating and visiting all these beautiful places together. I couldn't believe it when she took the line from you and said that's my job. What a life saver you are! Just as I’m sitting in the man cave in our home on the Kent coast at 6pm not a thing worth watching on TV I get the notification of another vlog. At last something worth watching
What an explorative experience you two are having. Thoroughly enjoying the vacations experience for myself. Happy Birthday Fiona. You are 2 days older than me. My B-day was the 9th. The happy bit was marred with a touch of covid. Thankyou for the enormous effort to share the experience. ❤

I'm sure I saw in marine regulations that if your birthday coincides with becoming proficient in big boat handling and you are already a tender boat captain you get an automatic promotion to admiral. Good to see Albania getting on with it after some tough times. Great vid. As usual.
My favorite part of your videos is watching your arriving and leaving ports and what it takes to do all that. I like seeing the maintenance you do. Happy Birthday to Fiona from Oklahoma City!
Fell off my chair laughing at the anchor debate. My wife and I have had exactly the same discussion! Hand signals need to be really exaggerated and "no I can't see you pointing when you're standing in the way"...Anyway, glad to see you living the dream while we freeze down here in NZ with the boat stuck in the marina!
Happy belated Birthday fiona, looks like you had a brilliant day. I had a vision in my head of Mark penguin walking up the trail to the gun emplacements in his flippers before he clarified that he had shoes on..😂😂😂
Hello to you both from the Isle of Anglesey in North Wales 🏴. I have been watching your adventures jealously for some time now. I think you are both very brave but as a man of the sea so long as you respect her, as you do, she can provide the happiest of times. Wishing you a belated Happy Birthday to Fiona, continue your journey and I will follow with much interest, safe travels from Rich & Annie. x

It's excellent that you're showing us around this part of the world and you also have the first N 51 In the world and people want to know what that boat is like. I Like Nordhavon
Thank you Mark and Fiona for another fantastic video! I've watched a number of Nordhavn videos of boating in the Med, but the boats were I think too big to do all the exploring that you are doing, and I must say that all your adventures are mostly places I've never seen in any other Nordhavn videos that are so wonderful to see. The boat, the crew--a perfect fit. Thanks again for all the work you do for these great videos.
Absolutely delightful video. Thank you. That was an ambitious amount of exploration on that shoreline, you have a lot of energy. Fascinating to see the old bunkers. Enver Hoxha ran Albania for about 40 years -- 1944-1985 I believe. Due to his communist policies and massive spending on the military and on security Albania was very poverty-stricken right up until the 1990's. The coast seems so undeveloped compared to most countries in that region. Happy Birthday to the Owner.
Yes it is a fascinating part of the world. He started out as a partisan hero who fought bravely for Albania…funny how things change. I wonder if his heart was in the right place though.
Exactly what I hoped for: Plenty of local color/history mixed with your boat operation details. I particularly like your short "under the boat" segments. I've never seena nobody else do that. THANKS!
You can reuse zipties using a small screw driver to release the mechanism. Or just use some nice string that you tie it on with that can be re used over and over again.

Another interesting video full of fascinating detail. I do want to say how brave I think you both are for undertaking this trip together and learning about the boat as you go. I am like you in that, if I see an interesting location I love to explore it and can spend a lot of time whilst others may not bother. The potential issue, I suppose, is that with just the two of you it might play on Fiona's mind a little that something might happen to you on your exploring trips. Whilst I know you would not take any undue risk I think I agree with you that it might give peace of mind/reassurance to you both if you took some limited supplies (water, etc) with you, together with the VHF radio and ELB. In particular we are hearing lately of a number of tourists succumbing to high temperatures so this would be a risk avoided. Please don't take this as a criticism, just a suggestion. Also good to hear about your tweaks with the drone - can't wait to see some more footage.

@@AwanuiNZ The engine can handle that, so maybe the batteries are the bottle-neck? Do you have a Lithium housebank? Do you know how big it is (preferably in kW)?
I must of missed that in the video. I thought they used the same anchor chain stopper that is fitted for securing the anchor and also used it after anchoring to prevent tension on anchor heaving bitt. I am not a boatie person but on ship's we use the same chain stopper for securing anchor after heaving up the anchor and also use it to prevent tension on windless after anchoring. What we do on ship's is after anchoring and applying chain stopper we give a few centimetres slack on the chain from windless to chain stopper so windless is totally free from unnecessary tension throughout anchorage.
@brianbarbarich1401 the chain stop I'm talking about they had on a 60ft nordhavan I saw and one I use on my small boat.. there is a flipper that will catch link in chain and let you slack off a little to relax strain on windlass. Simple contraption that is effortless anchoring. It's not a brake that tightens down on chain.
those bunkers you are see all over Albania - are specific for Albania, not for the rest of the eastern europe, particulary not on the adriatic coast - meaning you will not see those in Montenegro and Croatia... Albania was in certain period of time (1950-1960) most closed country in Europe, something lika North Korea today... Ex, Yugoslavia was very deifferent thing... YU was never part of the Soviet block, they built fortifications toward Hungary because they (we) have been afraid of the Soviet intervention in Yugoslavia (luckily never happened)
I read that the bunkers were built from the 60s into the 80s by the Republican, I meant communist regime in power at the time. Over 170,000 of them were built. But none of them were ever used. To the Albanians, they represent a colossal waste of resources that were in large part the reason for the countries struggles. Fiona is not going to let you leave on these adventures anymore is she? That flower looks like Queen Ann’s Lace or a wild carrot, but there is a possibility that it’s something else that looks just like it is poisonous, but I can’t remember what it is, poison hemlock I think. Happy belated birthday to Fiona. What is the red and blue flashing light in the lazerette?

Mark, did you check out the chain stop? So you dont have to put that rope on every time you anchor. It goes just in front of the windless.
Not yet but will. Not many chandlers here
I must of missed that in the video.
@garynoll700 I was thinking about the same thing. Sorry my wording maybe not correct and clearly understandable.
That’s it
Been binge watching your adventures, just superb
Hey thanks so much we love making each episode….stay tuned
those bunkers you are see all over Albania - are specific for Albania, not for the rest of the eastern europe, particulary not on the adriatic coast - meaning you will not see those in Montenegro and Croatia...
Yes it’s a fascinating history and country….opening up now though and visitors love it
Nothing bad about that 🍷😅
Indeed
Just being curious, why do you have to fly the Albanian flag? The NZ one I can understand. Is it just because you want to or is it regulation 🤔
Maritime courtesy to fly the flag - small - of the nations waters you are in. It should be higher than your own flag out of respect.
@@AwanuiNZ ok, thanks. I’ve never boated overseas. Knew there must be a reason.
Yes amazing story eh and you are correct about Fiona. Transformer for when plugged into shore power
Good afternoon how meany N M on full tank you go thanks

Actually about 4,500 but plan on 3,000 for a 50% margin…..it would need to be perfect conditions continuously for 4,500
I can actually hear Her yelling at you from the yacht Only because I'm wearing some Really expensive headphones
She was yelling alright…I was in so much trouble!
Did you visit the Albanian Submarine Pen
No where is that?

Just went to one in Montenegro…amazing
So these bunkers from the second World War or there much newer from the cold war? Have excellent day
Cold War. Bunkers from the Second World War look very different.
Yip essentially they became paranoid that Greece or Yugoslavia would invade them at any time
Probably german or Italian. They took over the whole area..
Possibly
No. Built by paranoid albanian comunist leader Enver Hoxha, and very local phenomena... Albanian product :-)

Probably…don’t know really and certainly not intended
Hello, ypu are doing something wrong. You have raise the yellow flag until you pass customs and inmigration. Then you put the albanian courtesy flag.
No one seems to now…Will check on it though
Hi Mark and Fiona, thank you for your videos I find it is getting very boring now so I’m going to unsubscribe. Keep up the good work. Hope your channel grows
