    Love watching your adventures. I can only wish that someday that'll be me. I live vicariously through you every Friday night. What's under the boat is totally unique and I love seeing it every week in different locations. Always different depending on where you are. Love it! Congrats to you both on the new boat and all the best on your sea legs. JW from Canada. #nordhavn #NZ

    Mark, regarding the flag, you’re supposed to fly the yellow quarantine flag when you first arrive in a country, then once you get checked into that country you replace the Q flag with that countries flag, which you can always buy when you check in.
    You may be boarded by the authorities if they see you flying their countries flag and they check your boat name and you haven’t checked in, the quarantine flag indicates to customs that you’re awaiting check in.

    Fiona: have you looked into orthotic footwear?
    I noticed in the early shot your knees bending inwards together. I have similar. Apart from stressing the knees, it causes me back issues too.
    I know a lot of boat life (like work from home for me) is barefoot. But you can get thongs (jandals to you kiwis) and sandals with corrective arch support, and inlays you can swap between shoes.
    They helped me a lot with back pain.
    Plus for me, a lot of pilates and yoga through Les Mills On Demand (another kiwi global success story!).

    • @AwanuiNZ
      @AwanuiNZ  6 месяцев назад +2

      Fiona broke her leg when young which affected her walking as she grew up. She has terrible difficulty with her feet and sometimes back…back been great recently. Had advice in UK years ago and got great orthotics but since closed down and everywhere we have tried just not the same. Should keep trying. Thanks so much for noticing and taking the time to make such good suggestions.

    Hello, here is a suggestion that will make your filming video a lot easier. Consider using an Insta 360 X4 camera. The selfie stick will become invisible and you don’t have to be so worried about missing a shot or subject. As it records in 360 you can find your subject in post editing and frame it. Super simple to use and edit videos. Greetings from Florida.

    Houston you have a problem. @ 11:06 your propellors are showing signs of fairly serious cavitation and again @24:59 for the number of hours run especially at such low revs. If you had been revving highly then perhaps... but not the way you have been running the Waka. The paint has been stripped from the outer edges of the blades which suggests cavitation which will eat the blades.. In my humble opinion, you will not get back to NZ with the same set of props no matter what your Armchair Admiral Followers have to say. It really is a serious problem and you need to talk to Nordhavn NOW.

    What you're doing is great & you've had fair weather but fair weather never made a good sailor. Be careful of you do when you do hit bad weather because the sea is a completely different beast when she's angry & how you deal with it will make you or break you.

    In my ten years as a professional sailor, I don’t remember hearing the word ‘Parking’ used in reference to mooring or anchoring or securing alongside a vessel.
