This channel is so underrated because the samples are way more relatable. Most of us are just taking pictures of our wives and kids for the vast majority of the time we use our cameras. I don't care how well a camera tracks a racecar. If it can't get my wife's eye in focus I can't use it.
Being brand new to the A7c, this is exactly what I need to hear/see. You videos have been the most helpful in getting me started in the full frame game. Appreciate ya.
Recently got the Sigma 24mm, and I love it. The price difference with the G Master would pay for a Sony FE 85mm f/1.8, which is a nice lens to pair with the Sigma 24mm. Add a fast "normal" lens in the 45-50mm range, and you've got yourself a lens kit that laughs at low light. When the guys with the f/2.8 and slower zoom lenses are cussing their noise levels, you just smile, because you're shooting at half their ISO (1/4 with the f/1.4 lens).
Great review again, makes me want to go out and buy this lens right away! At 5:28 though, when you talk about the sharpness vs the 16mm f1,4 APS-C you are using an image from the Sigma 20mm f1,4 to compare, according to lightroom. But you were talking about the 24mm in this context, right?
@@TrendingReviews I don't think that's the case, as the exif information below the title of his picture shows 20mm as well. Seems he actually compared the 20mm lens sharpness instead of the 24mm.
Was it a typo when you compared the 16mm with 20mm for the shelfs because you said it was the 24mm? I have the Sigma Trio APSC 16mm, 30mm, and my favorite the 56mm f/1.4 and used the Megadap ETZ-11 adapter on my Z30 and boy I wish they had a beautify setting because it was Sooo sharp that I now know why I scare people. They are great on the A6100, AV-E10 and my A7c too.
Not a typo. That is EXIF data coming from the image itself. That cannot be faked. So, the images were from a 16mm APS-C sigma lens and a 20mm Full Frame Sigma lens. It was a mistake on his part, but really not a big deal. Both the 20mm and 24mm are exceptionally sharp lenses in the center of the frame.
Great review! What lens would you choose for indoor photography, small churches, and general a lens to pair with an 85mm? The 24mm or the 35mm? I have a sony a7iii and the sigma 85mm dg dn.
I'm saving $600 bucks that's what i'm doing. No one is really going to care if you have a G on your lens when you are out shooting random stuff. This lens is going in the wish list thanks to you!
Thank you for adding the comments about Astrophotography! As an avid astrophotographer myself a lot of lens reviews never talk about that aspect of photography which can make it annoying to find new lenses to shoot with!
Since the widest lens I have for my a7c is a 35mm... I might be slightly interested. Generally I love the longer focal lengths (my favourite is the sigma 135mm) but can't deny that the wider ones are necessary indoors. And to be perfectly honest, the 35mm is sometimes not wide enough when trying to take photos inside cafés or churches. Might look at the 24mm. It is not as intimidatingly wide as the 20mm and it is also a smidge smaller. I do love tiny lenses (which is ironic since the sigma 135mm is anything but small...)
@@davematthew21 Yes! The Samyang 24mm is exactly what I am looking for. I am going to trade my 35mm for the Samyang 24mm. (I never liked the 35mm anyway so it won't be a problem letting it go.) Thanks for the tip.
This lens is something I was waiting to hear about. I have used the 24mm gm lens amd the old Sigma 24mm. Both are great lenses but like you I have always been a Sigma fan boy!! I am hoping to get my hands on it to try it out!! Great video as always!
great review., thank you ! I am curious if you are shooting in manual mode with these excellent portraits, or are you shooting in the "portrait mode" preset ? thanks again !
Hows the focus breathing on the 24mm. I saw the 20mm had some focus breathing issues. Thank you arthur for all your reviews. You get right down to the point and always seem to answer what others left unsaid.
Wait did Sigma already have a 24mm 1.4? (Outside what you showed) I wonder if the reviews I had been looking at were for an older version. I thought it was all the same. Didn’t know this was new!
I plan to sell my Batis 18 and get the Sigma 20. Had the original Sigma 20 on my Canon 6D and I loved the lens, even with all the flaws....

I made my first bucks as a photographer with sigma legendary 35 mm 1.4 for Nikon ! I switched to Sony and I have only the 85 dg dn but this one is on my shopping list
Nice video. Sigma is making a great job. I would like to test these new lenses in our trips. But it's complicated to have their lenses for testing of press trips. I have the 16 f1,4 is one of my every time lenses. The only issue with these Sigma lenses is the bokeh.. for me is horrible. When you say it's not distracting... well for me is bored. You know I like adore the swirly bokeh from old manual lenses as Yashica 50 f1,7 (a Carl Zeiss) or the Soviet Helios 44, so... Anyway, Sigma's are really amazing lenses!
I have the Sigma 35 F1.2 for shooting flat artwork - in studios that are cramped. I get great results, but I wouldn't mind something wider so I can get closer. Have you checked the 24 F1.4 for something like that?
2 mistakes I noticed: In Lightroom when you compare the Sigma 16 mm to the 24 mm, there is written „20 mm“. So which one was it? Second: when you talked about the Sony 24 mm‘s price you showed the Sony 35 mm instead. Such mistakes can happen but are really confusing. Please check your video before posting it.
The Sony Zeiss Sonnar 55mm 1.8 are MUCH better ! A cheaper option are Samyang 45mm 1.8 whichare just as good or better than Sony 50mm 2.5 G, if you do not need autofocus then the best 50mm Lens are the Voigtländer APO-Lanthar 50mm 2.0 !
I like what Sigma is doing now. Since I own both the 20 f2 and the 24 f2, and f1.4 is not very important for my type of photography, I keep my f2's. A 16 mm would be interesting.
Poor choice of word. Budget implies that there are sacrifices made to cut cost down. But there isn’t. This lens is as good as, if not better than, a G-master. An over-priced G-master is more appropriate.
Pfffffftt... What I get with the Sony G-master for $600 more is my bragging right. How dare you think my bragging right is not important! Bragging rights forever!
I won’t say budget , it’s made in Japan not china so who’s budget ? I rather pay 700$ for made in Japan than 1.500$ made in china , love china but “Japanese Lens made in china”… 🙄
What you're getting for an extra $600? Much less CA, and a much sharper image across the frame wide open. Granted, not everyone cares too much about that, but this is what you get.
Cropped it becomes even wider ? What nonsens. Shows how easy it is to be an influencer. 9 minutes waisted to say and be heard saying pertinant stuff instead of soso half baked statements.

@@TrendingReviews I don't think that's the case, as the exif information below the title of his picture shows 20mm as well. Seems he actually compared the 20mm lens sharpness instead of the 24mm.
Unbiased reviews
I did what you said. Got this lens and Sigma 24-70mm DG DN to start building.
you are one of the best to review lenses. Others they say the same and the same, with your reviews fills you really put them to the test 🙏

From what I’ve seen in reviews the focus breathing ain’t great. Same with the Sony though
Arthur R, how would you compare this to sigma new 23mm lens. I can find this 24 art used for less then the new 23mm contemporary lens.
the price!!! this a great value for this outstanding lens!
That's Sigma!
Wait did Sigma already have a 24mm 1.4? (Outside what you showed) I wonder if the reviews I had been looking at were for an older version. I thought it was all the same. Didn’t know this was new!

How does this lens perform as a Video lens for A7C?
Hey Arthur could you also review the Samyang/Rokinon 24mm AF f1.8 lens and compare it to this?

I have the Sigma 16mm 1,4 APSC and love the sunstars there. Do you know how the sunstars look at this new 24mm 1,4 fullframe lense?
How it balance with A7C ?
Picture profile neutral our standart?

Can you compare it to the viltrox 24mm or cab you atleast have a video about the viltrox 13mm
Oooo and you’ve got that pretty silver I want!
5:31 16mm f1.4 contemporary is a different lens for apsc. You know what you’re talking about?
The Sony 24mm 1.4 GM are still the best 24mm Lens !
I think they are equal, the Sigma is a better value.
@@ArthurR Try for just once to use a 60+ megapixels Camera and you will see a difference !!! They are NOT equal !
What’s the weight on this lens? Having a hard time finding that information.
Will this work on a Sony A7ii?
Does this Sigma lens has in-body image stabilization capability?
How is it for portraits ?
I have enjoyed Sigma lens for years! They perform and do a wonderful job. Me and my wallet vote Sigma.
Are either of these lenses worth getting for a a6600. I plan to upgrade in the future to a full frame
I’d say the Sigma 16mm f/1.4 APS-C lens is what you’d need. Same wide angle for your camera and cheaper and very sharp.
Finaly sigma made it why its took so long time
Love my 24mm 1.4 GM🍷🤌
Can these be used on apsc sensors?
Yes equivalent 35-36mm for apsc
Sigma 24 f1.4 vs Sony 24 f2.8? :P
5:42 why it says Sigma 20mm?
I have the 24gm, bought it 1 year ago... If only sigma art cheaper lens came out last year..
I really don’t want a full frame but this is nit making it a easy decision
is this 300$ more for the quaility. or should I get the 16-300mm sony e lens from whom ever next for 600... I can return my 16mm 1.4 if so haha
Samyang performed better in some tests
When sigma drops a 50 1.2 it’s gonna be game over.
Waiting patiently…. Not really.
A 1.2 is going to be big and heavy. I think they should do the same as with the 35mm. A 1.2 AND a 1.4 version.
I’m sure it will be. You don’t have to get one if they do it. I’m speaking for me 🤷🏾♂️

What about buying used? They aren't as far apart.
