Thanks again for the great review Pav! I'm considering this over the f2 i-series. Not such a huge difference in weight and price but you get an extra stop and *apparently* a bit crispier results. Any thoughts?
I really like your reviews🙏 👍🏻 In L-mount, do you think the Lumix 1.8 primes can compete with the new Sigma 1.4 dg dn’s?, my primary concern is the 24 and 35. Not any really good comparisons as far as i know😢
Have you tried it on lumix s5? I'd like to change my kit 20-60 for this sigma. Af in unsuable in video in all lenses for me, even primes, I use manual. But for photos I use only AF and it works cool with primes, will this sigma work as good as primes for photo in af/afc? I consider to get this sigma or lumix 24 1.8
I like this way of teaching people what to buy : "How much can you spare ? Then this is the best one in this price class." Donne ! So useful. Pragmatic and friendly..
Why is the Panasonic S 24mm f1/.8 nowhere near as good as a the Sigma 24mm f/1.4? (Genuine question) Obviously there is the f/1.8 and f/1.4 difference. But won't the Panasonic be better for video? The Sigma has focus breathing? I am a bit new to lenses and doing some research.
I don't know if the Sigma is better. They are equally good but Sigma has got slightly wider aperture (and the aperture ring). It's all about how you use it and the final result you create. Optically these two lenses are very close
@@PavSZ I want to shoot in night clubs and there you often have groups of 2-6 people. So the low light advantage of the f/1.4 and the wide focal length of 24mm seem like the Sigma will be a better choice for my use case. And I don’t want to carry and change lenses in a risky environment like a night club (dark, crowded and people under the influence of substances) So carrying only one lens is preferable.
@@armanspecial5664 no. Here is example I have filmed with this and 20mm on a7sIII (all the shots of her walking and singing around the guitarist) ruclips.net/video/PYahvm2SORY/видео.htmlsi=Y2ZGpLJxOHUm-bHY
1 month ago i was looking for 20 or 24 mm.. for my s5 damn they release it now . Ibought the 24 f2 (it's smaller and more convenient for my gimbal) but yeah i wish i had this option
PLEASE : I would like to come across someone having the curiosity to make "back-up" photos of every shot made with the 24mm (at f/1.4, and say f/5.6) also with the 20mm WITHOUT CHANGING DISTANCE to subject ! ..then crop those in post to match as close as possible to the framing of the 24mm shots. (Imagine You could finetune and store the finder's cropping to ouer taste..!) . How does bokkeh, distortion, grain, ..compare?
Snoozer minor update to previous lenses. No new form factors, focal lengths, or more support for the fp lineup. They should be heavily criticized at this point.
I'm not sure about being criticized about these. Some people prefer 20 and 24mm over other focal lengths. For astro or landscape photographers these are really good and there is now factor in form of improved performance quality and new hardware design. Not for everyone for sure but game changers for some

thank you!
You get wider aperture for sure. Not sure if this is sharper though. They are both as sharp as they get

I’ thinking Photography in particular🤘
Yes, absolutely
Do you prefer the 24mm over the 35mm?
I use 24mm very rarely.
Would you go for the 24 or 35?
I'd go for both, too hard to decide things like that
How does it compare to the GM?
Very well actually. This lens is very good optically

I wouldn't expect different results with this in video on S5 but for photos Sigmas work as good as Lumix lenses
@@PavSZ Thanks a lot! 👍
Love these results!! Great vid dude!
Thanks dude!
Hows the auto focus performance? Eye detection especially?
very good on a7IV and a7sIII that I have tested it on

@@boyantrifonov you've just answered your own question ;)
@@PavSZ So my research is in the right direction!
It is good to receive confirmation of my logic from someone experienced.
Thank you Pav SZ!
Sir, I am a wedding filmmaker, can I use this lens on FX30, will there be any focus issue in low light, please tell.
it will work on FX30 very well. But you are going to get 35mm focal length as FX30 is an APS-C crop sensor camera
@@PavSZ But sir, there will be no focus issue in the video in low light.

the same as all other camera - I don't understand your question

No ! The Sony 24mm 1.4 GM are still the best 24mm you can get today !
there is no doubt about it that GM lens is AMAZING, it is but this will give it run for its money. As sharp and much cheaper
