      Simplify the lovely background with only sea sky & sand, underexpose by half a stop to retain the beautiful warm sunset colours & blip the pretty girl with a balanced side flash to give a nice 3d effect, & maybe not chop the girl in half with horizontal framing, the best photos are vertical framing & full body dynamic poses with plenty of room for the girl & background to shine.. And suggest she dance happily in the wet sand... Any focal length lens from wide to telephoto could take that picture & would grace any wall, enlarged, framed & spotlit.. 😊💕🌹

    I own the Sigma 24m f1.4 Art - I bought it really in a rush when I dropped my Sigma 20mm and had to get it repaired. I actually use it way more than I thought I would, mainly for video but also for photography where Im shooting someone but need a bit of context to their location. It's very heavy tho. This can be a plus for video as I find holding it steady with my Nikon D750 very easy.

      Wow cool...i'm looking for new lens now since i sold my old lens(50mm 1.8g & tamron 70-200mm) coz the telephoto lens is quite heavy, I had a surgery last year and it's inconvenient to use so i sold it and I think this 24mm sigma 1.4 is impressive for landscape and portrait.

    Thank you so much man! I’m trying to decide whether the 35mm or 24mm is better. It’s a hard choice tbh. I’ve been shooting with an 85mm, and that can go only so far even for how amazing it is. I’m a big fan of hero angles, so one of these would definitely help more with how close I can get to my subjects.

    I'd like to see a tighter crop on these. I find there is too much empty space above the model in your images (and the sky is just a solid grey/white, so nothing interesting there). Since you are using the EOS-R, you can use eye AF and have your model's head near the top of the frame. Nice vid.

    Do you have an opinion RE adapted EF vs native RF glass? I just got an EOS R coming from Sony and trying to figure out if RF is really worth the investment. Love your channel!!

    • @MitchLally
      @MitchLally  4 года назад +1

      The lens choices right now overwhelmingly make me recommend EF as they function great and there is such a great selection. However in a few years you will see not just Canon but also the third party companies start creating many more RF lenses and that is super exciting. You could go either way and be happy I think. The current RF lenses are nice but I'm waiting to see what Sigma, Tamron and also Canon can do in the future with this mount. Since I have the BMPCC (EF MOUNT) as my main video camera it doesn't make sense to me to go all in on RF glass as I would need to carry two sets of lenses - so EF is my current system.

    • @mikemuller3357
      @mikemuller3357 4 года назад

      @@MitchLally Thanks! That's one of the reasons for looking more toward the Cannon system. The BMPCC cameras are great if I get more into video and don't want to have multiple systems. Do you use the control ring adapter? Not sure if the control ring is super valuable or not.

    Love your videos! Watched a lot of them. I noticed you were much taller than the model and many shots are slightly angled down. Obviously I saw you holding it parallel to the ground and kneeling down too. I am only mentioning that seeing the results … I think the 24mm limits on the composition of the picture - if you position the person in the center to avoid distortion then you have a ton of sky without much details and the dividing line is in the middle point of the photo. It is also not lifting the subject from the background because you can still see some details. This really helps me understand that it is not meant to be used for portrait sessions. It takes beautiful pictures especially the horizontal center framing ones towards the end. But it will never be a shot that strikes me. Just my personal preference and I am not even a photographer 😂

      I don’t ND very often but I had HOYA brand vnd in the past and they work great.

    I notice what appears to be a filter on the lower section of your videos? Why do you have that on there?

      Not sure what you mean?

      @@MitchLally Update! I notice the same thing happening on other peoples videos.. It could have to do with my Browser. I am using the CCleaner Browser it might be that.. Sorry..

    I never thought about getting a lens like the 24mm but I see so many people use it for so many different things, the diversity of it impresses me! I think it would be nice to play around and use it in some of my shoots for different perspectives. Also wouldn’t be a bad lens for self portraits in tighter spaces. Absolutely love your work!

      It's good for the street on a FF and don't forget he's got an f1.4 so he can really play with it.

    I prefer the 24mm :)
    It creates more of a story rather than primarily being about the model ( Not that she isn’t a great model )

      Yeah that’s so true man. Theres a few great photographers I follow on Insta that mainly use 24 1.4 and they totally kill it!

      Thanks my man! Appreciate the love. I use a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop depending on the tools I need. 95% LR, 5% PS. And I’ve been at this for just over 8 years now!

    In the past, I prefer to shoot portrait with telephoto lenses with the creamy bokeh. Right now I like to shoot portrait with environment. It looks more interesting for me. I really like the 28 and 35 mm f1.4 :)

    Nice comparaison. Would have been great to have your shutter speed and iso for each of the pictures. I know it's lot of work, but but it helps other when they like your style :) Cheers
