24mm vs 35mm in street portrait photography

Nice! I like 24mm a lot, as well as 28mm. 35mm falls a bit in between for me. It doesn’t feel wide but not really natural like a 50mm either.
24 and 50 make a great pair

so if i only had the money to buy one lens why wouldnt you just buy the 24mm because you could crop in from FX to DX and still get the focal effect of a 35MM right?
I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that.
@@gutenbirdyes it does! Crop in on full frame from 24mm to 35mm and if u have 35mm lens crops in almost to 50mm

Enjoyed this video Aries. The 24mm is a dynamic focal length in the right situation for environmental portraits but the 35mm is a more useful focal length for everyday . I use the 35mm and 85mm .
Mate lens is very personal choice and I love my 35mm and 85mm too

Hahahaha love the posing Aries!! You’re spot on with it. You should do a posing class. I love the 24mm. I gave it up because other photographers, more established and more experienced than myself, kept telling me it isn’t practical. I should not have listened.
I wish I knew this at beginning of my career: stick with you gun, don't let anyone tell you what's right or wrong. Art is how you express your self, unlike math there is no right or wrong ans

For street photography, I prefer the 21/35/90 or the 24/50/105.
Most of my better results have been done with the Sigma EX 105mm f/2.8, that focal length doesn't get enough recognition/praise if we speak about street photography...

For street and portraits, I use the 105mm f/2.5 Nikkor (similar to lens used by Steve McCurry to shoot the famous Afghan Girl photo) or the 105mm f/2.8 Nikkor macro.

Really well done on all accounts. Professional pics. Great commentary. Love your message. Got a sub and like. Look forward to learning more. From a technical standpoint I just picked up a 6D MK II full frame and am a total hobbiest. I'm drawn to the 24mm for some reason and am considering adding to my bag at f1.4. I have the cheap 50mm f1.8 so I figure this would be a good compliment. I envision walking around the city, suburbs and hiking paths and seeing what I can find to capture.

If you shoot raw, most brands are very good. bw, tiffen, hoya and etc

Looks Aries has moved to wide angel portrait while many other photographers still stay with 85
So you like the 35mm over the 24mm
I learned from news photog why the 18-35 2.8 (full frame) has a higher value: News photo is WHO in WHERE doing WHAT (and WHEN, day or night) and sometimes WHY
Story telling photos are videos (movies) uses more wide. Ignore those “useless” portrait lenses for this purpose.
Hey Pete, from story telling perspective you are absolutely correct. Do what feels right for you.

This is NOT street photography. "Street photography" photographic "genre" is NOT taking portraits of the model at the street.
Photos are OK, though. Little too much pulling the contrast from the shadows, but OK.
Tbh the different not really noticeable. 1. for 24mm u have to step back bit more, 2. 35mm close up just equal with 50mm looks LOL.

I think when you have a model, assistant and good location your ready to do some business. I would like to see some Lightroom editing behind the scenes.

For me, I am finding the images just a bit 'weird' in the message. Sometimes too much sex appeal for a promotion for Pilates or fitness perhaps, I dunno I can't quite put my finger on it. Technically solid, maybe editing not quite to my taste at times either but overall a solid shoot.
