We had so much fun in Elkhart, Indiana, visiting with our Lippert and Grand Design families! We had the honor of joining in on a Lippert Cares Volunteer Event serving the non-profit, Hannah’s House, a pregnancy support center in the area. We even had some FOS Crew Members in the area able to join us!
While we were in Elkhart, we were also able to install another Furrion solar panel, gifted to us by Lippert. Looking foward to wrapping up Stage 4 of our solar set up and being able to share our thoughts on how it is working! In case you missed our video on what we think are the 4 Stages of Solar, you can check that out here: • DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY...
Somehow in all of our trips to Elkhart, we had never been to the RV Hall of Fame & Museum, so we were thrilled to be invited on a tour with Jose! We were joined by our friends, Ryan from Lippert and Keith and Raini from @keithandraini on Instagram and / keithandraini ! If you have already been, be sure to go back the next time you are in the area, as they are opening a brand new interactive wing and are reorganizing all of the RV’s to be in chronological order. We can’t wait to go back and see it all redone!
Seeing Marc and Trish’s ( Keep Your Daydream ) Bird in the museum was awesome as well! We hadn’t seen it since NASCAR: • WILL OUR 2500 DURAMAX ... . Corey saw a couple bugs on the windshield and just couldn’t leave it alone!
It is always best practice to get fuel before you attach and leave, but this time, we picked up a screw at the gas station and decided to stop a Discount Tire on our way out of town.
We headed out to check off a bucket list item for Corey: forging a knife. We were not even close to prepared for what this experience would be like or how much actually goes into making a one-of-a-kind knife! For more information on Charles and his incredible creations, you can check out his website here: www.bigriverfo...
Stay tuned for the next episode where we wrap up making Corey’s chef’s knife with Charles and head off to see our 50th state! Be sure to like and subscribe and click on the bell icon for notifications when we release new videos!

The BIRD!!!! and Gary!!!! What a treat to see! Will our youth ever fully believe the school of hard knocks that we muddled thru as RVrs the last 50 years!!!! The museum captures that history pretty good!
My family lived in St. Louis from '72 - '75. Mom planned a special day for us. It was an adventure by land, sea and air. The land journey involved a horse and buggy; sea was a paddle boat ride up the Mississippi; the "air" portion was a helicopter tour of downtown. The helipad is still located on the bank of the Mississippi. That was so much fun!
What a wonderful adventure and memory for you! Sounds like you had a pretty incredible mom!
@@FindingOurSomeday She is. Jean dedicates her time, through her church, to helping those who have been illegally trafficked to the United States, from India, by sleazy corporations looking for cheap labor. The FBI recently turned to her for her expertise. I'm so proud of her.
A bit surprised you never mentioned the amazing smells from that hay baling. May have been cut far enough in advance that most of the smell was gone. As a former farm boy, I still love passing a freshly cut field of hay.
I work downtown St. Louis and I get to see the Arch everyday on my way to work and at work. I live in Illinois.
It is such a beautiful drive! 😃
Nice to see you get excited and do a bucket list item Corey. Forging has been a hobby here since age 16, but I never got into knife making. Charles' billet patterns are beautiful. Forge welding is one of those skills that separates tinkerers from smiths, and he has it in spades. I recognize the Rathole Forge/Fontanini anvil, but can't remember the brand of the large upsetting-feet anvil. Nice shop!
My Grandfather was a mechanic and a welder. He would never have allowed any of us, young or old, in the shop without properly enclosed shoes and full jeans. You really need to think more about safety especially when there are sparks flying and fire. A hot spark from a welder or grinder can burn really good.
Sandra WestleyUK, we made a point of always filling up before hitching up, as we had the most awful experience in France, we just passed the service area and our light on fuel came on, we had no idea how far the next service area was, and we only had fuel for 20 miles, so we came off the Motorway and found a supermarket petrol, but we manage to get the van stuck at the pay desk, our van back end as it turned was demolition in her office, we couldn’t go forward or back, we were stuck for nearly an hour, no body came to help us, they just watched, we had to unhook the car from the van, and move it with the mover we had about 1” at a time, we nearly died of embarrassment. So we learnt our lesson, always always, fill up before you start, never let the fuel go below a 1/4 tank.
You have to go see the Arch in St. Louis. If any of you have claustrophobia I suggest don’t because the ride up to the top is in a egg shape that has only 4 to 6 seats. Look it up on RUclips! The scenery is beautiful and the history of the Arch being built is interesting. We volunteered in East St. Louis, IL at the Christian Activity Center for the projects( low income families). I have been up in the Arch a few times. If you can get close to the subway ride it so you don’t have to fight the traffic, just be aware of surroundings and stay safe. Love you guys!!
We love Discount Tire. They fixed a tire for us before we had ever bought anything from them. Now, we buy all of our tires there. And we have one in Williamsburg, VA
They are seriously the best and I have never found another company with better customer service! Glad you have one close!
Your caulking gun has the pin and cutter built into the "black caulk gun" that you have.
That one didn’t, I bought it based on weight, and the fact I knew I would hardly use it.
Hi Jess and Corey and girls, Good session! we have been rescued on the road by Discount Tire a few times, on all of our vehicles. The thing you forgot to say about the forge was the music, the driving beat! What beautiful knives, thanks for bringing us along.
Those knives were beautifully done. Great job and great job on the video. Can’t wait to see your knife Corey. Hope you all have a great day and weekend. Safe travels!
Thanks, Sherri! He’s a true artist. Working on the next video now, can’t wait to show you the finished piece!
@@FindingOurSomeday I can’t wait to see it looks like it’s going to be nice. And a great job!
I’ve dabbled in 1080 steel knife making. Heat treating is fun - feel like a blacksmith without the giant forearms haha. It’s not easy and I am in awe of the low prices of folding knives these days. Assembly lines make things cheaper for sure. Thanks to those working them!
Amazing skill goes into a quality knife. Unbelievable.
It was a gift just to be there to watch! Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Gary. Nice to see you again with the bird.
The Bird fits in perfectly at the museum!
We went to the rv museum last month on our way home from Michigan. Loved seeing the bird. We like both of y’all channels
We really loved getting to see the RV Museum as well! Thank you for following along with both of our families! 🙏
I enjoy your video (all of them).. Thank you.
Sorry, "Free"... I shop at Discount tires in Texas through Florida (when towing) and I found that you have to purchase their "Certs" (certificates) in order to get their road hazard protection, and they don't protect trailer tires. The interesting thing is that you can purchase "Certs" for your tires, even though you didn't purchase your tire from them, which is the case when we purchase a new vehicle.
We don’t buy any of the Certs on our tires and they have always fixed issues for free. This past one was a screw in the tire and we had one years ago in the trailer tire and they fixed it for free and we didn’t even by those tires from them. We don’t buy tires from anyone else now!
I grew up in the Big River area. I now lived by they Civil War Museum sign you showed. Fun to see you in my neck of the woods.
Those bugs won't have the guts to fly into that glass again! 🤪
😂😂😂
Love watching how much work goes into making a knife. 🧡
I love to watch these vids, but, I just stay home, I know, boring, but, Too old, too poor, but, this way I get to see things I may never see, keep 'em coming!!
I love your videos showcasing craftsman. Plus there was that bit of farming. HEY, I was told they discontinued those round bales of hay, cows weren't getting a square meal. LOL my best Dad joke ever.
I need you to be in Idaho so you can clean the bugs off my truck this week . lol
Our truck needs a wash!
Those nasty bugs are the worst to get off! 😬
@@FindingOurSomeday Their little Democrats
Wow what an incredible artist 🥰🥰
Unbelievably talented!
Having worked in kitchens and bakeries, you had me with the chef knife. Near and dear to me. Safe travels!
Charles at Big River Forge is very talented. Nice work, and setup!
Extremely talented! We can't wait to show everyone the final product! It is unreal! Charles is actually a Journeyman Blacksmith, one of only 200 in the world. Such a gift to be able to have this experience with him!
Great video. Enjoyed watching what people do in this great country.
Lots of good people here 💪
The problem with how your panels are set up is that you can't remove a panel without unscrewing it from the roof, because you can't unbolt it from the mounting foot. When you unscrew it from the roof you'll break the seal. And wood screws never hold as well the second time they are driven in. I would have modified the mount to work differently. I suspect those mounts are designed to bolt to a track, not directly to a roof.
Yeah, this never made sense to me either. In theory the panel should last as long as the roof though 🤷♂️
The gateway arch in St Louis, is the smallest national park
Thanks for the recommendation!
Great video, great experience for you. Can’t wait to see how the knife turns out. We were at the RV Museum in July. Loved it! Saw the Bird and our dogs were welcome to come in with us. Great place!
Thank you so much for another great video. Blessings
Thank you so much for joining us each week! God bless you as well!
Love it that you all go to a metal shop in flip flops!!!! Nothing could happen there 🤣. Can’t wait to see your finished knife.
I’m excited to share the next part! I didn’t mean for it to be 2 videos but there was so much footage to go through and edit this was all I could include! Those were safety flops 😃
We also really praise discount tire. They did our tire rotation on our dually and found a leak just before one of our camping road trips. Such an awesome company.
Really interesting video. Forging that knife and watching part of the process was fascinating.
So glad you enjoyed it! It was absolutely fascinating for us as well and we can't wait to show more next week!
I went to Discount for a bad tire on our tt during the breakout / shut down of the Covid outbreak to get back home. 1600 miles from home. Like yourself we called ahead, pulled in & an hour later we were back on the road. I would have changed the tire myself but discovered the nicer aluminum wheels would not allow my impact socket access nor did my 'normal' one. I did immediately after get a longer breaker bar and a thin walled socket.
My first trip to ST. Louis was in 1965 on a family vacation just before I entered the USAF. Back then the ARCH was not finished. Mom and Dad live there in 1942 when Dad was working in the ammo plant. He later went to Europe during WW 2 and came home after it was over. Our family has visited the Arch since and even did the underground museum.
Wow! I was glued to the screen watching this episode haha. Charles was awesome! If he doesn't have a YT channel, he needs one. If he does have one, I need to find it. I can't wait to see how your knife turned out. Thanks guys!
The knife making process was awesome. He should offer harvest host and come build a knife for a day or two... I would pay for that in a heartbeat.
I laughed so hard! Last night I was watching this episode with my wife. When the corvette (SQUIREL) went by my wife says "That's you! You can be in a middle of a sentence and a car go by and your hey look at the blah blah blah.. Then back to the original topic!" I told her I'm a man baby! LMAO
We stayed at the same site at Grand Design the night before you. We were very surprised how early they start working next door, not a complaint We had to have the RV in for service by 6 so we were up already. We also did the HOF whith the dogs while waiting for GD to fix our rig. Again, It was great to meet you all!
Great video. I've only used Discount tire once . It was fantastic. They're now my go to tire shop.
Love the knife. I have a couple of custom knives myself, love them.
We don't go anywhere else! Discount Tire is the best! We were totally blown away about the incredible knives Charles has created!
Love Discount tire, everything we own (except the Class A pusher) has their tires on it. This includes my truck, our Class C and 2 equipment trailers.
So glad you got solar on your roof. This is cool to see the Damascus. My moms grandfather used to be a blacksmith. It’s a hard and hot job! Thank you guys for showing this. It’s cool to see and watch.
We were at the Hall of Fame back in May and loved it!
Wasn't it great? We can't wait to see the new changes next time!
So interesting. I had no idea what went into forging a knife.
Discount Tire is the absolute BEST!!! My son in law has been with the company for almost 20 years and runs a store in Killeen Texas and we love our DTC family ❤️
There is a Discount Tire in North Charleston, SC. Pretty dang east coast to me.
I meant to say Northeast “New England”
So interesting! That walrus tusk knife was so beautiful. I can't wait to see your knife.
I understand your frustration with forgetting to get gas before hooking up. I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago. I knew the only gas station in the area was kind of tight so I unhooked, got gas, and hooked up a second time. It was worth the extra effort.
❤oh what a true craftsman Chrales is. Those knives are beautiful 😍 I love the way yall volunteer everywhere yall go. That's an inspiration to me. And thanks on the top of Discount tires that will come in handy.
Thank you! We are so excited about the volunteer initiative we are working on with Lippert right now that will be launched in October to help connect RVers with non-profits all around the country while they travel! Be looking out for our announcement the end of October!
My favorite rv in the museum is Charles Lindbergh's.
+100 on Discount Tires. These are the people I get all of our tires from. Good prices, excellent service great warranty/repair plans!
The Damascus Steel forging was fascinating. What talent! They are beautiful knives for sure!
They are seriously the best! And Charles' talent was a gift to watch! So excited to share the finished product in next week's video!
@@FindingOurSomeday - Can't wait! Looking forward to it!
Bob and Dottie
Sorry to hear about your Rv with the tire. But glad that Discount tires got you in right away. I was laughing when you said the girls got their license now it’s time to party with it being your 7.5 season. I have followed you now for two years and I love it. You are a great family. You a lot if cool stuff I love seeing. I am on that journey with you! Love guys as well!
Always like a good knife show:)
Now we do, too! 😉
Discount Tire is super underrated. They have been absolute legends multiple times on my travels. Great video, as always!
I visited the RV hall of fame last year. Good to know they are doing some changes to it. I hope to return next year
We are really looking forward to seeing it all redone!
Nice video , interesting how Damascus steel is made . I worked with metal for all of my 43 year career but not that particular amalgam , although I did make a batch of stamp dies for Buck Knives way back in my early days (late 70s) but that was some nasty M3 tool steel that loves to work harden on you . I do love the design it leaves though , that is one aspect of metal working I missed out on sadly , forging is something that was always done at some outside business when we had special forgings made . Forging is it's own science , and so is heat treating these days with the environmental types (oxygen depleted argon filled chamber) of heat treating that can be done which is why that sort of thing is done elsewhere .
Now you have to do a cooking video showcasing your new knife !
Wow. You beat me to it. Learning from. Mr Charles.. I have a few of his knives. An awesome guy and really talented.
Very interesting process. So excited to see the final product! 🖖🏻😘👍🏻🙏🏻
What an experience! Can't wait to see the finished product! And how fun does that RV Museum look? Can't wait to see it in person too.
My son-law worked for America's Tire in Calif. (same as Discount Tires) as a teen, turned me on to using them. So far I think I'm about $5000 down for tires in the last 20+ years!!!!!! Great company. Brave to be around a forge with basically bare feet!!!
Discount tire patches any tire for free as long as the damaged area fits it's criteria. You don't have to purchase the tire from them for that free service. With that said, my next tires will come from them because they've fixed 2 for me.
Wait. What? It's over already? Where's the ending? Ahhh. Another week? Oh this work week is gonna be a long one!! 😄
So sorry! It was just too much great footage, so we had to separate it out into 2 episodes! We promise it will be worth the wait! Thanks so much for watching!
Greetings from Oregon, the forge and knife making tour was super cool, thanks for that. Discount Tire is great.
ill have to see if there is a discount tire around i need to get tires for the camper they are starting to dry rot. messing around with sparks and metal with flip flops on very brave
We highly recommend it! They are the best of the best! Not really sure that is bravery😂 Thank you much for watching!
Cool shot on the side of the tanker
So cool what a treat can't wait to see finished knife
I’m excited to share, already working on the video! Thank you 🙏
Thanks for asking us to look! Subscribed now! Wish I caught it sooner! Love the videos
Wow, amazing!
It was such an incredible day! Thanks for watching!
Hi, I love your channel and your family. You were talking about Discount Tire and said it was nationwide except for the east coast. I live in West Palm Beach, FL and I looked it up. There are 5 Discount Tire shops just in our area alone.
Thank you 🙏 Sorry I miss spoke, I meant to say the north east!
You have made the ultimate dude video. Tactical Forge Flip Flops, slo mo man glitter on fire, knives, hammers. smoked meat, R V museum, Gemini Giant, nascar.... I mean......perfection in RUclips videography...
Going to the museaum next month! Loved seeing his Trump sticker on his workstation!
Have fun! hopefully everything is finished by the time you get there 😃
If your ever just east of lippert and need room or a place to enjoy a couple lake days, please reach out. My parents live about an hour away and while I’m 8 hours away, they will treat you as family if you need it! If you need family in Charlotte area, I’ll treat you the same.
That is so kind of you! Shoot us a message on Facebook or Instagram and we will keep your information for if we are in those areas! Thanks so much for watching and for your very gracious offer!
Ligmavieda Otherwise known as Ironwood. Because it’s very very hard. Thank you for another very nice video.
Super dense wood! Interesting smell also when being sanded!
There are no Discount Tire stores in NY or PA that I can find.
They are not in the northeast unfortunately…
Looks like fun! Might want to wear real boots in the shop - flip are not much protection.
I was so impressed. Good for you guys to get to see that!!! 🙂
It was such an impressive process to watch and Charles is a true artist! Excited to share the rest next week!

Our place will actually be on the market soon. Feel free to reach out any time.
Hey what happened. I just turned on the video and it was over. Your guy's videos go by way too fast. They are so good that you get so wrapped up in them that 24 minutes seemed like 5 minutes. Thanks guys for another great video. This is the type of thing that your kids will be telling their kids about. I wish I was able to do this type of thing. I can fix vehicles but to be able to take a piece of nothing and make a piece of art basically is so amazing. Stay safe on the roads, keep smiling as always, and God bless your family. If you can maybe have your family name engraved on the handle and year. Just a thought. Love you family from ❤🇨🇦
We were just at the HOF and got to go inside the KYD Bird!
Season 7.1 lookout, here comes the fun🙃😉😊
I do hope things get better for you!
Oh things are just amazing for us! Hope you are able to watching the rest of the video to see how!
That's my dad! I hope I can be half as cool as him someday.
Your dad is a good dude! He taught you, so you definitely will be 😎
I can only hope I can live up to that.
Oh boy.....Chicken Bone Highway (Interstate 55 to St Louis).....Ugh!! I’ve driven that too many times.
This was great 👍 👌.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
I'm glad y'all had a good experience with Discount tire. I've used them twice in two different states and had really bad experience with them. Hopefully it's a better experience next time.
Only as good as the people running it. Don’t expect your service at service stores to get better with the new generations. Prove me wrong millennials/Gen Zers. I know two good ones. My daughter and her husband. Surely there are a few more young adults raised with integrity.
Glad you got good service from discount tire. My experience has not been as good to the one in my town.
Great video...ugh hate screws...and best bug cleaner dissolver the day after a drive...Hydrogen Peroxide that you buy over the counter...pretty much any surface, plastic, glass, front grille...but not on any left over bug...fresh bugs only
Have been loving Discount Tires since 2001
Good to hear! We had town fair tires in the Northeast growing so it wasn’t until we hit the road in 2017 that we used Discount tire.
Super vlog, what a talent Charles. Thanks for sharing ❤🇬🇧.
Very cool guys!!!
We just recently came across your channel and have been enjoying your content. We’re about to begin our full time RVing journey in our Outdoors 280KVS. We’re in the PNW, but we’d love to make our way to some of the locations you’ve been. PS: We promise we will not randomly show up at your friends ranch. 😂
Hi guys great so far I haven't finished and I have to leave. But you're talking about looking at the arch. You need to go up IN the arch. We went in the mid-90s. It was much different than the elevator didn't go to the top. It's still might not but the stairs were so much different back then. They were rickety cricket as stairs you ever saw to get to the top. It was NOT a windy day. That thing was just swaying back and forth. And I'm afraid of heights. But if I'm enclosed I'm okay. But that did have me a little freaked out 🤣🤣🤣 But it was really awesome. I can still feel the swaying experience. And that was what over 20 years ago.lol so like I said you may have already experienced it and it may be in this video. So forgive me if it is. Thanks for sharing! Safe and happy travels p.s. I have heard many people say it has to be a windy day for it to be swaying. It was not a windy day when we went 😂
Just want to point out, you go to a forge and still have sandles on, your brave.
I’m not sure that’s bravery 🤪🫣
Oh yeah dedication to the flops 😂. I’d have a black and blue toe for sure.
Discount tire is awesome.. you dont carry a spare for your TT though?
Sawmill Corey Sawmill.
I was going to ask if he was on Forged in Fire.
We love the content you produce, just curious if you have considered posting on other platforms (i.e. rumble)? Keep up the great work!
Corey, You went into a blacksmith shop with open toed shoes (flip flops). Gutsy move man.
I’m a dedicated flip flopper. Not as dedicated as a politician, but close.
Did u see the bird..... awesome....
Oh we did more than see it! You have to watch to see what Corey did to the Bird in the video!
