I have the resonator R2 and I love it. I have been looking for a 556 suppressor. The fat cat is slightly heavier than I wanted but I think it might be the way to go. Thanks for the video!
I got this can from last year's free tax stamp event, for basically nothing. The price I paid for the performance out of this can is really good. While I am sure this is not the most quite 556 can out there, it is much more quite than any 30 cal can on a 556 host. Also if you already have some longer muzzle device as your host device, you can buy the Rearden Altas mount (reg length) and most of regular length muzzle device will fit this can. I like this can just for the free stamp and the price I paid for it.
@@hellolin324 I’m not nuts, it is far too short to be anywhere near as effective as a suppressor getting close to twice its length, or even a third longer, even YHM themselves admits it is basically a shorter Turbo K. I too have several thirty cal cans and every single one will outperform it as far as noise goes. Pretty broad statement, you do realize thirty cal cans come in many sizes yeah? This thing on a 10” will still sound like a grenade going off. If you like it, that’s rad, but let’s not pretend it’s something it isn’t.
@@dasboot9471 I am not, 10 inch is pretty short on a 223 though, wouldn't you think? I have used and tested this and a 30 cal can on my 16 inch 223s be it bolt or semi and to my ear, which I meant shooter's ear this one sounds a bit quieter, so in that case I'd say you are making a case while there isn't one. STOP LYING!
Some quick math here*: at 1.94" wide this can has 67% greater volume by length, meaning a 3" long, 1.94 wide baffle section has the "same" fluid volume as a 5" long 1.5" wide suppressor. *using diamer measurements, not taking the volume of the baffles into account, this is a very simple comparison. Internal volume isnt everything but it is very important in determining the performance of like-designed silencers.
Ouch. Sorry to hear. New submissions are taking priority right now. I just got a 5 day approval. Is yours on a multi person trust? Only Individuals are quick right now.
Hey man, what's that light you got on the end of the rifle in the intro? Also, you spoke of how a handguard with a wider inner diameter could tuck the non-flared part of the suppressor in a little bit, do you have any handguards you know that can do this? Great video!
I have both a YHM Resonator R2 and R9 and although I love them both on my 300blk and CZ Scorpion...i wonder how much better they could be if they just made them wider like 1.67, 1.75, heck even 2" around
Will the narrow section at least partially fit under a BCM MCMR rail? The internal diameter of the BCM MCRM rail is 1.3" ...but what is the outer diameter of the *narrow* portion of the Fat Cat ?
I know this isnt the point of the video but can you share where you got the mag pod for the metal mag? The one shown around 22 seconds. I can only find ones like that for pmags.
@@SilencerShop wow I should've asked days ago, that would've saved me so much time trying to find one lol. Was it difficult or is this something most people could do?
What’s the ideal size for fat cat application? I had mine on my MK18 and decided to go a bit longer barrel as it was still really loud on the 10.3” barrel.

It is a really neat silencer, I was impressed with the performance.
I have both. The fat cat is just slightly louder on my 10.5" AR 15. But that is expected because physics.

The FAT CAT is an awesome silencer, glad you're enjoying it!
It’s cheap, and small, sure, but c’mon, it is NOT quieter than a 7” 30 Cal can, and a 22 cap.
@@dasboot9471 You are nuts lol, I own a 30 cal can myself and this can is absolutely quieter than any 30 cal can on a 223 host. GET OUT OF HERE!

Great job, yeah thats how this silencer is allowed to perform closer to a standard sized silencer!
Looks good on a mk18.
It’s still super loud with the MK18. I just sold my MK18 upper and will probably do a 14.5” upper
Is a slick setup
Got mines in 5 weeks 😎
NICE!
The end cap is a starfish you don’t want aimed at you
I love mine
Nice!
Going on 6 months and still waiting for my YHM fat cat to be released from jail 😅
Got mine in 2 months!
Fingers crossed you get the good news soon!
@@Momolina69 this doesn't help their pain at all lmao
@@Merk21 very true lol it’s a dope can! I think I’m going to go 14.5” for mine

What ammo do you recommend for that

More volume would definitely create lower tones and probably better sound performance!

I know most 5.56 suppressors shoot 5.7x28 just fine but does anyone know for sure if I can use this can and brake on my M&P 5.7 handgun?
Virgil Expressway
Will there be a longer version down the pipeline?
Not sure! YH might have more info.
Silencer Central has a copy of this and they do have longer versions. IMO though its not worth having it longer for 5.56.
Are YHM cans direct thread or do you need a proprietary muzzle device?
They use HUB mount so they're compatible the most industry mounts.
You can buy a direct thread adapter
Would this be able to work with AAC 51T with the stamp hub adapter?
Yes! Any HUB adapter would work!
Is it hub compatible? Like I want to throw on the b&t sf hub in it to run with a war comp.
Yes it is!
Thoughts when compared to a polonium k?
Polonium sounds a bit better to my ear, but the Fat Cat is more compact.
Does anyone know the diameter of the narrow end? Can't find that dimension on YHM's website and will be good to know for handguard spec purposes
It's about 1.5"
@@SilencerShop Thanks!

about 1.5" at the narrow end, likely wont fit under that handguard.
Does this can come with adapter for Zastava ZPAP85 5.56? If not, which adapter do I need? TIA.
This silencer comes with a 1/2x28 adapter, that is the common 5.56 thread, but AKs can be different sometimes.
What ammo was being shot in the opening scene?
All of the 5.56 we use is M193
I know this isnt the point of the video but can you share where you got the mag pod for the metal mag? The one shown around 22 seconds. I can only find ones like that for pmags.
That actually is one made for Pmags, we just modded it a bit to work with the duramags.

Will this just go straight on to a PSA JAKL
The 5.56 models, yes it will!
@@SilencerShop Awesome! Thanks! No adapters or anything required?
Will this work with the longer srx muzzle devices or just the short ones?
Only the short ones. I sent an email to yhm asking the same question
What’s the ideal size for fat cat application? I had mine on my MK18 and decided to go a bit longer barrel as it was still really loud on the 10.3” barrel.
I think everything will be loud on a 10.3 lol maybe a 14.5 would be better
The longer the barrel the better most silencers will sound.
I like this on a 14.5, thats kind of my ideal balance of length and sound performance.
@@jaredandrews379 agreed. Put 5 rounds through the MK18 and it was still a hand cannon lol
How’s it do with suppressing muzzle flash?
For its size it is very very good.
@@SilencerShop Right on. Thanks
Why can't manufacturers make aesthetically pleasing cylindrical suppressors anymore?
WE think its pretty cool, definitely different!
... they make the T3 Turbo, if that floats your boat.
Someone help....fat cat or polonium K, for 10.3" 5.56?....
Both are solid choices, Polonium K video coming soon, then you can judge for yourself!
@SilencerShop I'm leaning toward Polonium K because it's slightly less weight than the Fat Cat. Any idea when the video will be dropping?
Same questions a few months later 😂
@ericsrussell lol yup...never got an answer. I'm in no rush to buy a 500 dollar accessorie until I'm sure about it. My gun ain't going nowhere.
