    I know less than anybody about suppressor mounts, but at least I have done some research. If you want to swap suppressors between an AK-47 and a 5.56 rifle you need a muzzle device on each rifle. One that can be installed on a 1/2x28 thread for the 5.56 rifle. That’s easy. In my case the AK-47 I have has a M14x1LH thread. SilencerCo ASR does not support that thread. If you want a Plan B muzzle device you have a lot of homework to see who makes one in M14x1LH. Your best bet is JMac Customs muzzle device with Keymod. The biggest issue is that the Keymod adapter for your suppressor of choice is one of the most expensive options. I just wish that someone made a Plan B muzzle device in M14x1LH that is in stock. Otherwise it gets ridiculously expensive with muzzle devices, a suppressor, an adapter, and the 200 Tax Stamp.

      @SilencerShop  8 месяцев назад +3

      If you're using a barrel of decent quality, and a mount from a notable manufacturer, there are very rarely issues of alignment, but checking concentricity cannot hurt. Rocksett on your muzzle device will ensure its solid, but torqueing to 35/ft/lbs is usually plenty!

    -For pistols i vote the Griffin CamLok. I absolutely love mine. It can also be used on PCCs in place of a trilug.
    For rifles i am loving my Xeno system. I had a Keymo system give me issues* so i switched to Xeno and its been nice. The only thing is i sometimes forget its lefthand thread but LMT is using the system now so that has to count for something.
    *i torqued a muzzle device on but didnt rockset the device and it started coming off while trying to remove the can (not while shooting), then the keymo adapter tried to come out of the can instead of the muzzle device. I was just trying to function test a gun while the can was in jail which is why nothing had thread locker but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Something like the Sandman is cool since its welded, but i am not going to run 2 different attachment systems and a HUB mounted keymo wasnt going to work for me.

    If it’s not direct thread it’s not correct lol. Over the years I spend thousands on mounting systems all to just come back around to direct thread, once you shoot suppressed you don’t want to go back, all my suppressors are dedicated to which rifles they are on granted I know not everyone can afford to buy a suppressor per gun but swapping back and forth just becomes cumbersome. Great video though for those that want to go that route!

    • @SilencerShop
      @SilencerShop  8 месяцев назад +1

      Once you get dedicated silencers, DT makes a lot more sense. But QD systems are awfully nice when you only have 1-2 suppressors.

    • @Briathos1
      @Briathos1 3 месяца назад

      Have you had any issues with suppressors walking off? I’m not interested in having to re-tighten suppressors every range day.
      I just want to throw it on and not think twice about it. I have 3 rifles I want to suppress and I plan on keeping the cans dedicated to them like you mentioned.

    • @Ignorrin_Radd
      @Ignorrin_Radd 3 месяца назад +1

      Hmm, maybe. If that works for you, then perfect! I think the best mounting setup is a QD with a taper and reverse/LH threads: you get the benefits of self-tightening, carbon lock avoidance, and reduction of blast baffle erosion. Neither of the extremes offer those all of those benefits; DT is susceptible to carbon lock and faster blast baffle erosion, while HUB is the most convenient but also much more prone to tolerance stacking and added weight. Whatever works for your purposes, though...
      All of my suppressors are dedicated to either a caliber or host; I want the OPTION of moving them around if desired, and the ABILITY to move them around if needed, but I don't want the NECESSITY to move them around. I have them in all of the mounting types and build material types, and at the end of it all: I prefer a robust steel or hard metal alloy construction, with a QD LH taper mount. To each, their own.

    • @SilencerShop
      @SilencerShop  8 месяцев назад +1

      If you're going to Pin/Weld and QD muzzle device makes more sense, welding a silencer to your barrel is inconvenient unless its a dedicated integral upper.

    • @JvariW
      @JvariW 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@SilencerShop Maybe I’m askin my question wrong. It’s my understanding you need 16 OAL. If you pin/weld a muzzle device it’s counted as part of that 16 since it can’t be removed. I would assume that if you’re direct threading a silencer to your barrel then it doesn’t count toward that 16 in threshold.
      I was asking what kind of things should you take into consideration when you’re deciding between the pin/weld and the direct thread? Especially as concerns the ATF.
      I’m new to this. Not sure if I’m over thinkin it. Just want to make sure I don’t get myself into trouble cuz they won’t care if either way.

    • @OTG_Zulu
      @OTG_Zulu 8 месяцев назад

      Yes you need a 16in barrel on a rifle for it to not be considered an sbr. You can direct thread and then pin a suppressor to a 12 barrel assuming it will take you to 16in total. I think the issue there would be if you used a suppressor that could then be unscrewed from the direct thread mount as it would then leave your barrel under 16in. Aka if you’re gonna go that route use a welded can that doesn’t have the ability be taken off at all so you can avoid that all together. But honestly ask a lawyer lol.

    The biggest fallacy for most of us getting into suppressors is that we’ll use the same one on multiple guns. Whiles it’s technically possible, between POI shifts, gas tuning, caliber choice, I believe most folks end up going to dedicated can/gun combos.

      It will prevent you from pulling your barrel out (unless you want to remove the adapter each time) but you can still clean the bore and around the barrel just fine so don't worry about that. No different than when people put really nice brakes on their pistol barrels.
