Fast charging and fast discharging is not good for the health of your batteries no matter what kind of charger/discharger you use period. The slower you charge/discharge you batteries the better for your batteries health. That’s just facts. Love your videos brother. 6:53 🤷🏻♂️👍💯
By discharging you mean storage charge right? I use a GensAce iMars charger and I use the 'storage' function when I have a fully charged battery I couldn't use. Is that basically the same as discharging?
Nope, I have the same charger, those are separate modes. I think the discharge function discharges to a set level and the storage mode charges between a level with balancing, I should check the manual but I noticed that between the two modes the amps and voltages are different.
@@harisjaved1379 oh gotcha. I did use the 'store' function and it brought a 100% full charged battery down to 38% capacity which is consistent with the voltage cutoff on my esc
You know, it’s funny. So many traxxas haters out there who always talk about how terrible quality their electronics are, their servos, their batteries. I’ve been buying traxxas products since 1997, along with many other brands such as Losi, Associated, and most recently Arrma. I have honestly never had any problems with any of my traxxas cars or trucks having electronics or batteries or servos fail, ever! Granted I don’t drive crazy like a lot of other people do. But I don’t baby my stuff either. I blast as much as the next guy. And do mild bashing and jumping. And all my cars and trucks from all the manufacturers, Arrma, Losi, Traxxas, etc, still have all the original electronics, and batteries I bought for them. Traxxas batteries and the spektrum batteries may be a little pricier. But I have not had even a minute of problems with any of them. Makes me wonder what people actually do to their RC cars and trucks. 😂 And if your batteries get messed up because you leave them unsupervised while charging and forget, that’s on you. I’ve never charged lipos unattended, ever. There are warnings all over the manuals for every manufacturer strongly advising against it. So if your batteries puff up or start on fire because you left them unattended for a long time while charging, better look in the mirror when dishing out blame. 🤷🏻♂️
@ totally agree. Most RTR don’t put junk in the cars, but they’re pretty basic grade stuff. Enough to get the job done, but not really able to take any serious punishment.
The only traxxas RTR thing i own is a Maxx v2 and I'm really happy with it, but i had to replace the really slow servo and the non adjustable esc with a (faster) hobbywing max8 esc, i also swapped out the transmitter and receiver because i dont want to use such a cheep transmitting with such a nice truck, i know its impossible for some reason but it would be nice if traxxas offered a roller version of their models so people like me dont have to pay for quantity over quality
@ totally understand where you’re coming from. For you, you wanted something that performed better than what the truck came with. Guys like me, I’m just out there having fun and don’t mind what’s in there electronics wise. As long as it’s sufficient enough to steer the car and make it go, I’m good. 😂 At the end of the day, as long as it’s right for you, and puts a smile on your face, that’s all that matters. 😎
I like to "slow" charge my traxxas batterys with the cheapest traxxas charger 2970. I think the lifetime will be higher this way. Have them for some years now and no problems.
You don’t need that with Spektrum batteries. They discharge automatically after a programmable time. Even the target voltage can be adjusted. It’s cool though.
Hey Mark howz it going.... Hey got a question for ya .. I bought a traxxas RC truck about 6 months ago and wanted to put it away in the box unopened for a very long time. Basically leaving it factory sealed ...Now I got to thinking maybe I should open it and take out the batteries . But then the factory seal will be broke . ....what's your opinion. Should I store it with the batteries in it or break the seal....Thanks for any reply.......
so with the discharger you dont plug your balance cable in? how dose it balance the cells?, my lipo charger might take longer but all the cells are balanced when its done, i was thinking you were going to show the results after 5 minutes but you didnt for some reason, i dont think ill be spending $150 on somthing my charger can do better all be a bit slower
@@MarkSantaMaria sorry what i meant is you didnt plug your balance cable into the discharger for when its discharging, i might be wrong about all this but when i discharge my lipos with my lipo charger (storage mode) i need to plug in the balance cable so it can balance the cells

Real deans plugs actually carryover current with less loss than those spectrum connectors.
