I had Dean's connector melt on my Arrma Granite 3s BLX. I switched to EC5 and have had no problems after that. Good video. Thanks for the advice.

RC soldering is so much easier nowadays. Back when I started racing in the 80's, we had to struggle with crappy low wattage irons trying to solder packs of matched cells together. If you didn't have a hot enough iron, you could cause NiCad and NiMH cells to vent because of how long you had to heat it to get the solder to melt on.

Just a tip, shrink tube works best to cover the alligator clips and don't take from the surface area of the clips.

Use QS8 anti spark connectors on everything and be done with it and you will never want to go with any other connectors again.

    Hi Mark
Ich have learned by a soldering lesson by kurz ersa that you should have solder on your tip when it is in the station. The tip will be last longer.

Well made (seriously)... but... why not show us with a battery that needs connectors replaced? That's what I need help with.
Soldering connectors to a battery with wires already connected is what I need to be a pro at. I can do one solder beautifully. My trouble is doing the second lead when the battery and the wire to the already soldered side up the difficulty level. Hardly anyone on RUclips takes on this challenge. I'm guessing that it's because they don't want to look bad so go the safe route of using loose wires or making a loop connector.
I soldered 4 XT90 connectors yesterday. My negative leads were beautiful since I did them first. My positive leads look like I switched hands to do them. I had to redo one so often that the pin pushed out from the heat. Thankfully, I had spare connectors. Basically I suck at soldering the second wire when it's connected to a battery.
Could you give that video a go... or point me to one that is really good?

separate flux is not required in RC, i've never ever used flux when making RC connections to ESC/motors, batterys etc. never ever had one issue.

Great, great video but it was a ton of fluff talk that somewhat dragged out the video a bit . discussed stuff like flux but never used it nor explained what flux is used for to the newbies and a lot of your work was almost off camera then just kept downing what other folks do not due and just kept tooting your own horn. Once you get past that great job man.

Lol Alot of guys that are into DIY or any kind of
engineering, Mechanical or Electrical, always have that “Tooting of their own horn” thing .. Especially in the RUclips community because they are pushing their “brand” of course
Huge Egos…Fear of being criticized etc
Im an American and I worked in Germany for a few years as an Engineer for Siemens(tooting my own horn i guess lol) , and in Germany they have a very different culture, where solving problems is a more of a COLLABORATIVE effort and there is no room for you and your ego….its all about testing and The most efficient way is pushed to the top and its never a personal thing involving status, personal gain or your seniority/merit…Which is possibly one of the reasons German Engineering is usually a certain level above rest (they do make alot of rubbish too lol , but they are undoubtedly Titans of Engineering and Heavy Industry )
