@@MattJackson_RUclips No problem, thanks for getting back Matt. With the new update, are you using the auto-calibration feature on the Atomos Ninja to calculate the frame delay? Thank you so much for this amazingly relaxing and informative video! Just got hired as a content creator couple days ago and the company has an A7Sii. If your new hire had only 1 camera and 1 lens, but is asking for some extra equipment that could help out productivity like the Ninja V, or even a basic monitor in the $200-300 range. (Assuming you know nothing about videos, if like you were a marketing manager or something) Is it... you know, ridiculous? Like a new guy on probation who could get fired in 3 months if KPIs are not hit is asking for production gear. I... probably have already messed up a job just yesterday with focus since the A7Sii wasn't a great autofocus machine and I had to pull manual focus for the first time in a gym. I also do intend to practice intensively in my off time just pulling focus on strangers on a street, but there's only so much wiggle room with a small LCD screen.
Thanks for watching! If you’re thinking of paying $300 for a monitor, I’d see if the company would spring the $600-700 to get you set up with a Ninja. If not, the Shinobi or SmallHD are killer monitor options for much less. Just do your best to get good with the tools you have. Rely on focus assist in camera to help you when you’re using the little monitor. The first year of professional work that I did was all on the A7iii and original BMPCC’s built-in screens. Arguably two of the worst. 😉
@@MattJackson_RUclips Thanks for the reply! Good to know it's not impossible with those tiny built-in screens. Yeah I'll keep practicing to get good with what I have.

It must come in handy for your videos. And your voice and video weren’t boring! 😅
@@rosspfeffer5185 thanks so much! Yes, in a former life I was an actor before parlaying all that experience into starting my ad agency. It’s what’s kept me busy for most of the year, hence the vast vacuum of no YT videos of late. But I shall return with a few soon! Thanks for being a part of this!
Thank you very much for this video. I wonder if you could talk about the new sony a7siii and ninja v. nobody talks about this and in my opinion it is a good combination. But few people talk about shooting raw with sony. I am waiting for the new camera and I want to use raw. by the way excellent music
As I understand it, you can record video on the Ninja V while you are in photo mode on the camera (eg, Manual mode), correct? So then does it record what the viewfinder sees, and if so, can you turn off the camera settings (that are shown around the perimeter of the viewfinder/LCD) on just the Ninja, or do you need to turn them off in camera too? Ok, here's the scenario, I want to photograph wildlife, but be recording video at that same time, and obviously, I don't want all the camera settings to show up in the video. Thanks for a great video! New subscriber now !
Thanks for stopping by, and thanks so much for subscribing! From my understanding, the only way to get the camera settings off on a Sony mirrorless is to be in movie mode. Otherwise, you will see what the viewfinder sees, on your recorder, in photo mode. That said, I'll have a chance to look into it soon, so if I discover that's not the case, I'll let you know!
Wow I was really about to buy this until the 120fps part came along. I'm currently using the shinobi and I wanted to buy this for the sony a7s iii for raw and pro res for 120fps. Bummer. Will just have to manually convert on my computer instead unless s&q is a work around.
I just got one for myself today. I connected it with Sony FX3 but it show "No Input". I've been using FX3 with a Monitor Switcher and it has been working well. No problem with the HDMI port on FX3. I also changed a different HDMI cable that work with anything else. However, the Ninja V still show "No Input". Any suggestions please?
Same issue here with my a7siii. Ninja will display for a while but will often reset to no input screen and than go back to working fine. I’m still trouble shooting but from my research I believe the best fix is to invest in the atomos hdmi. Again not sure but I purchased a bundle that came with a “zila 8k hdmi” cable and I suspect that to be the culprit. Also when switching to the red menu/record button the fan kicks in and screams hard for all of a few seconds. Although presumably normal I hear the units are very silent and I’m left raising my eyebrow- any ex w/ that?
Hey all! Yes, if you’re not using the Atomos 60fps HDMI or the Kondor Blue version, you may have issues to the Ninja. I’ve used generic HDMI before, though, and had no problems. I also got a connector clamp to use on both camera/cage and monitor as they slip out very easily. Also, being only familiar with the alpha cameras, on the new a7sIII I do keep it to “HDMI only” setting when recording to the Ninja, disabling its ability to record internally.
@@MattJackson_RUclips Just to final confirm. Is it this one you're talking about "Atomos AtomFLEX HDMI (Type-A) Male to HDMI (Type-A) Male Coiled Cable (12 to 24″) 30CM - 60CM"

Awesome video last week I was using my Ninja V with my Sony A7IV after looking at the video the footage burned what the Sony A7IV setting showed , how can I avoid this from happening again?
I’m just curious can you run a 25-30ft hdmi cable? From the camera to the ninja? I do car footage and have a car rig, usually the camera is mounted around 15 feet away but I end up using 20-30feet of cable in order to reach my regular monitor to the cab without too much stress, but I’m curious to know if this would work using it on the ninja.. the recording feature to the monitor is what is really interesting to me. And could be very very Beneficial
Greetings! Please tell us the following situation: the latest firmware 10.63 All codecs and SDI are activated too (it is paid). I do not remember which firmware when I click on the record, it starts to write literally for 2-3 seconds and stops - I have to press it again so that the recording goes on for a long time. What is it - in the firmware, or maybe I knocked it down in the settings or something else !?
Future-proofing would be a massive benefit, but if you like to shoot in 4K 120p and much of your work in that format, then the V+ is a great choice. But the original Ninja is at $499 right now for black friday on the Atomos site!

@@MattJackson_RUclips When your video started, I thought, ok, this is a professional VO artist, hope he sounds like he’s interested in cameras a little bit, otherwise could be a bit sterile.😬😂 No offence, but some VO’s can be clinical. I’m glad the voice is a content creator too! I should have known you would have been self aware enough to have had VO experience, or at least, peers/friends encourage you to do it.
@@MattJackson_RUclips That’s very interesting.🙏🏻 And cool! More power to you. Now, about that Atomos ….. 🤔😅
@@rosspfeffer5185 get one.
Thank you very much for this video. I wonder if you could talk about the new sony a7siii and ninja v. nobody talks about this and in my opinion it is a good combination. But few people talk about shooting raw with sony. I am waiting for the new camera and I want to use raw. by the way excellent music
Once I get my hands on the A7siii, I most definitely will! It’s a killer combo!
loved this video
What aspect ratio is this video exported in? Great content!
Thanks so much! Edited and exported in 21:9. Shot on the Atomos with the 21:9 guides.
I know - it’s a super bummer that it doesn’t record at 120fps since so for many Sony shooters it’s a staple.
Great video
Thank you so much!

@@MattJackson_RUclips It’s funny to me that we have to spend another $49 on an HDMI cable so that we can connect our product. But seem I have no choice so have to buy it anyway Lol Thank you very much for the reply! Love your style of video editing!
Wes Anderson approves this video haha - Thanks for the this!
Stylish video!!
Thank you so much!!!
Cutting to you sitting there looking back at me made me feel uncomfortable lol! Like a shrink trying to conduct mind surgery just using voice inflections. So direct and intense. Hold something to present or something!
Great lighting and taste in style, overall really enjoyed the video. Side note: I was disappointed you never drank the water…
If you need to talk about anything, let me know. I’m here for you.
@@MattJackson_RUclips well you sold me on the ninja v, if it lets me down I’ll be blaming myself and need some counseling.. consoling… I’ll need words.

Love the Morgan Freeman style video
Thank you!
I have the a7riii and need more running time for a podcast. Is overheating an issue?
This is poetic😍
The Ninja is true poetry
Excellent.
Thanks for the info. Just received my Ninja and this was helpful. I'm still struggling with auto/mic, not sure if I the mic goes in the camera or in the Ninja. Advice welcomed, please?
I place mine in the input on the Ninja. You may need to tweak the delay response a bit to make sure it lines up with the speaker, but once you do, the sound is great.
Thanks! What batteries do you use? I didn’t see a link. Thanks!
I use the NP-F 970 battery. I have 4 with two recorders and have never run out of juice on shoots.
Nine Stories Creative nice! What brand do you like?
I tend to get the Neweer ones, but I also have a couple Anton Bauer for good measure.
Will it be able to eventually shoot 120fps with an update?!?!
I hope so. As of right now, 4K 60p is our limit with Sony cameras.
What hdmi coil cable are you using for this setup?
It’s the 30 cm Atomos mini to full HDMI cable.
thanks so much for the video
Awesome video last week I was using my Ninja V with my Sony A7IV after looking at the video the footage burned what the Sony A7IV setting showed , how can I avoid this from happening again?
Some Sony setting
What teleprompter are you using? P.S. I'll get one for myself too
The Parrot Teleprompter! It's awesome. Here's the link! www.amazon.com/dp/B07SJZP1B4?tag=ninestoriescr-20
Please what is the name of the hdmi cable for the atomos v to the sonya73

@@DennisTemituro my pleasure. Thanks for watching!!!
I’ve used an 8 ft HDMI before, but that’s the longest I’ve tried to date.
Nine Stories Creative I guess I will be the test dummy lol
Lemme know how it goes!
wow. instant sub
Thank you so much!
That’s very interesting. I’ve never seen this issue before. I’ll do some digging and see what I come up with for a solution!
@@MattJackson_RUclips Thank you so much! I will be glad!
So if I can't already record 4k60, I can't use it on the ninja V
Correct, it will only record what the camera can when it comes to frame rates and resolution
Getting serious Wes Anderson vibes...and i like it
Full success. haha
Is there a reason to choose one over the other when it comes to Ninja V/V+, for a Sony A7IV? Maybe just future proofing?
Future-proofing would be a massive benefit, but if you like to shoot in 4K 120p and much of your work in that format, then the V+ is a great choice. But the original Ninja is at $499 right now for black friday on the Atomos site!
@@MattJackson_RUclips Time to order a 3rd- they’re only $399 right now! :)
