    Thank you for the great tutorial! I love making pillows and am excited to try this method. I have one question about trimming the corners of the batting and backing. Do you also trim them when binding a quilt? I sometimes struggle with bulk in the corners too and this might be the tip I needed to fix that! Thank you!

    In my experience, I need a far larger overlap ( more like 6 inches) to allow for the natural bulge of a cushion insert. If i use a 3 inch overlap I would always use a couple of button fasteners to keep things in place.

    If I do not already have batting attached to my block, when I make my “sandwich,” should I make my batting about 1/4 wider than my pillow front before adding the backing so that I can baste around it the way that you did? Sorry to ask such a simple question. I am new to this. Thanks. Pat

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  7 месяцев назад +1

      Hello Patricia! I like my batting and backing to be bigger than my pillow top and trim after I have done the quilting. When you're quilting sometimes the backing and batting can be taken up and be less than you started with so having it bigger saves you trouble later.

    Hi, Kimberly. I purchased the AURIFILL 50 weight thread, but it keeps breaking in my machine. I am using a large cone with a cone holder on a Singer 4452 Heavy Duty, with a 90-100 needle and a walking foot. Do I need to do something different? (An obvious question, I know). Thanks for your help. I don’t have the same trouble with polyester thread with all of the same criteria, but I wanted to do piecing with the pretty AURIFILL thread. Thanks. Pat Berne

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  4 месяца назад +1

      Hello Patricia! Yorur machine may be more finicky about the thread that it likes to use. It may just be that Aurifil is just not strong enough to run in your machine. Teresa's Singer Featherweight does not like Aurifil so she uses Superior Threads “So Fine” Cone and it works great.
