I used Riley Blake's Adventure is Calling quilt panels on the back of my throw quilts for my grandson. Using panels on the back of my quilts saves time and money and makes a 2-sided quilt!
Hi when I work with panels it is most important for the words to be level. So when I trim, I place my ruler under the wording and establish the perpendicular line for the sides. Then I use that as a guide to trim. That way the wording is level. I would have used the word Harvest for this panel. Try it!
I have always been intimidated by panels due to not knowing what to do with them. Thank you for the tutorial. I am now going to sew them up. Thank you!
Thank you for doing this tutorial! I have two panels that I have been struggling with finding a pattern for making them. Now I know what to do!! Thank you!
This is great! I love the courthouse steps style of border as opposed to a normal border. I have the perfect little panel to try this with for an Emergency Infant Services donation quilt!! ❤
Hi Kimberley, now I have no excuses for the panels I have sitting in my drawers. This is a great and easy idea. Thank you very much for showing us how simple it is to add borders.
I too am so glad you did this tutorial. I have so many panels along with the coordinating fabric but did not know how to put it together. I love, love panels. You have motivated and inspired me to start making panel quilts. Please keep making tutorial videos for beginners such as me!!
I have had my eye on this panel but didn't know what I would do with it. Thank you Kimberly for showing a different way to add borders to give the quilt more interest. Thank you too for doing all the math and providing a free pattern. You are very generous ❤
I like this simple design. Perfect for gifting and charity quilts. I have added flying geese to the frame the corners with strips in between. I will definitely be trying this one. I have a good collection of Christmas panels. TFS
Kimberly, I've been quilting over 20 years & I do find/pin my middle before adding borders. I've seen you measure & pin your border strips before, but after watching this video, I decided I love your method. I always cut my strips to the exact length, but I'm definitely trying this way on my next quilt 🩵
You are so right about slapping on long borders -- they never come out flat. Measure and pin for better results! The "pin and cut later" tip is a new tip for me. I will definitely try that. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!! I just bought a panel last month with some coordinating fabrics. But I didn't know how to make it interesting. I like this courthouse border. And free patterns are always welcome.
I'm so glad you did this video. I have several panels I bought cause they were so pretty, but never knew what to do with them. I am inspired and motivated to do something with them now. Thank you so much for your continued education and inspiration. You and all of your staff are phenomenal.
So cute! I did my first panel a few months ago and the tip about squaring up the panel itself would have been so helpful at the time. Thank you again! You are not gonna believe this. I found in my scrapbook paper stash an almost exact pattern and paper. Crazy!
I am not a big panel person, but I love this one. I struggle with fall decorating because I don’t like orange very much. I have to say though when it is mixed with my favorite color, blue, I love it. I have already ordered the quilt kit and backing set, because I cannot wait to do this one and have it ready for the fall. Thanks for the great tutorial. I love these stand alone videos so I don’t have to search through various live streams to find the tutorial I am looking for!! You and your team are the greatest!!!
Thank you for making this video. I 'm just finishing a baby quilt for a great grandbaby. I just added borders to the side. I really like your version. I'm going to use panels to make quilts for the grandchildern and great grandbabies for christmas.
Kimberley I loved both but lighter was my favorite. There are several patterns I have seen lately including this one I would love to buy. The trunk show with the Santa face won my heart. I hope she realises how much joy her patterns and finished quilts bring to people. I have been in Spain the past year helping my son take care of grandchildren. With international shipping it isn't affordable. Watching you helps a lot. This is what I miss most. Again thank you so much for these videos
I made my first baby blanket. 😁 I did not like the doing the binding in pieces! My second baby quilt is made with a beautiful sea hoarse in the center. I used my back fabric as a wrap around binding.. Holy molly, what a difference sewing that binding.
Kimberly, I recommend the Striplogy XL ruler by Creative Grids. You would have been able to fold your panel in half across the horizontal and trim down with 2 cuts. That’s what I use almost exclusively and FQS sells them😊
I purchased panels because I love the prints, but didn’t know what to do with them. Thanks for the ideas.
Excellent video. Thank you. Very very informative and helpful.
I seem to collect panels with no plans and for no other reason then they are pretty. Deb Strain always has such great panels.
Ditto
Same here! Most. Of mine are Christmas panels that I have no clue what to do with.
Thank you SO MUCH for using Harvest Wishes to create this lovely quilt!! I am honored and LOVE how it came out!
Love this !❤

Great tutorial...I have lots of panels ❤
I love how this pattern for the panel looks like a giant spool of thread.

Great tip ! ❤
Thanks for Sharing Kimberly. Beautiful ❤
Yes please do more panel videos. I have some Christmas ones that are Henry glass I need some ideas.
I use panels as part of the backing that way the quilt is reversible!! 😊😊
I do that too. It makes the back of the quilt more interesting. A little more work but well worth the effort.
Great idea.
@@debbienoreski6086 thank you!!
Love ❤️ it beautiful job Kimberly.
Kimberly explained the process of the panel and borders very well. Thanks Kimberly!

Looks awesome. Thank you. ❤
Love it! I just reorganized my sewing room and gathered all my fabric panels in one place. Now I have a plan to use them!
I recently did the same thing, putting all panels together.
So cute! I did my first panel a few months ago and the tip about squaring up the panel itself would have been so helpful at the time. Thank you again! You are not gonna believe this. I found in my scrapbook paper stash an almost exact pattern and paper. Crazy!

Me too I have so many panels that I have purchased to make my granddaughter and grandson quilts. They are 3 and 5…some may be too juvenile.
I'm in love with that fabric line! The colors are so unique for Fall. Stunning really. Both panels are gorgeous. Hard to decide which one to buy.
Thank you so much Kimberly! I've always messed up panels not knowing how to make them straight. This quilt is beautiful. ❤
