Thank you!!!My Nanny made me this block a few years ago, and she loved it, but couldn’t remember how it was done (she’s 91) so I have sent her this tutorial and printed her the pattern. You have made her day!
Kimberly, thank you for making this pattern available as a free download! I made a "Broken Dishes" quilt a few years ago and look forward to making this appealing variation! Your videos and your excellent online store are a great asset to the quilting Community!
That is simply amazing! I just love it. Roll on Saturday, I am going to try it. My job is getting in the way of my quilting 😂 but it pays for my food and my quilting, so I better stop moaning 😂😂😂
Interesting design. Might be pretty too to have a sold square in-between each star, if you have that in your stash to use. Great tutorial, as usual. Thank you!
What an awesome block! I love how your little quilt came out. Many thanks for the great tutorial free pattern. FQS is the best and always goes the extra mile for its customers!!
I really like the evening tutorial lessons. I work during the day, so always miss your live stream . I love the spool quilt. I think I will make the small block spools. Thanks again, for the sewing videos, and the various info and tips . 💜💚
Thank you for this pattern. Now I know what I'm going to make with the 4 layer cakes I got from FQS! I love buttercup and slate so much, I couldn't get just one layer cake. lol
I will definitely be joining Sewcialites 2. I sewed two last year, and may do two sizes this year. I'm not sure which fabric I'm using yet, but one will be from my scraps.
So neat! I saw on your blog that some people make this starting with 4 matching HSTs, using the whole charm pack and not using the same coordinated background for all the blocks. I especially like the one done in Ruby Star Society fabrics. My question is, how would this change the fabric requirements? Could you use 4 matching charm packs? 2 layer cakes? (to ensure at least 4 matching HSTs). Help! Thanks for this intriguing pattern.
I think Coriander Seeds would look incredible in this! Since there are a few extra charms in the packs, you could try a sample block and see how you like it.
Kimberly I love that when you use pins they go in so easy. Which would you suggest I buy. I like them to be really thin. I just don’t know how to buy them so I am sure they are thin.
Hi Kimberley, I made this block a few years ago for my niece. Using chili peppers fabrics. I pressed all my seams to the side. Watching you press them open was wonderful. One question when you press the seams open do you line up the seams on top of the other seams or nest them to the side like when the seams are closed? Sorry for this question but I have a weird brain and it works funny, have trouble with triangles. (But I do figure it out and keep on quilting which I love.)
Hello Paula! Snow Kona might be the best match from available Charm Packs www.fatquartershop.com/snow-kona-cotton-solids-charm-pack If you don't plan to make your quilt soon this 5” stacker is by the same designer and will probably be a great match www.fatquartershop.com/off-white-floret-5-inch-stacker
I'm confused why starching would not leave enough to trim down the hst. Could you elaborate on WHY? I understand why not to trim the charm squares, but then she indicated again starching the charm squares would not result in enough to trim the hsts.
So not sure if you have ever used starch on cotton quilt fabric... I would watch a RUclips video on the subject... so what happens is: when you spray starch on fabric, the fabric shrinks as the starch dries... so your charm square of 5 x 5 inches will no longer be a perfect 5 x 5 inch square. I am pretty sure it is the length of grain that does the shrinking (from the selvedge end to the other end)..weft or weave may both shrink... but basically starch SHRINKS fabric as it dries.
@@DH-qz2so I have used it, that could explain why my seams never quite match exactly. Never heard about this before or thought this could be the reason. Thank you for explaining

You could use a Layer Cake for this this if you don't have charm packs 😁
Your free patterns are always great....this one, I think, takes the cake! How awesome is this! Thank you for sharing

Love how making a simple block look complex with a few cuts. Awesome!!!
Very cool. Reminds of little kitty cat heads lol. Glad I invested in a rotating mat. It comes in pretty handy.
I am joining Sewcialites 2 and I’m very excited. I am going to use cinnamon and cream as my fabric

Hello Vio! We only have an explanation using the versions listed on the website. You could try asking this question in Kimberly's Stitch Squad.
Looks hard but is actually easy!
Thank you for a wonderful quilt. You always made things look so easy!
❤
😮 I love this pattern.
I love this quilt. Thank you
I’m going to make this. It is so cute
Anybody else see bats in the pattern? Love this.
This is so cool ❤
Cool block. I see kitties.
That’s a really pretty block!
Very pretty 😍
Love this so much!❤
I love this pattern! Can’t wait to make it!
It’s a great quilt block
Very pretty! Would a tone on tone like Coriander Seeds work for the solid or would that be too busy?
I think Coriander Seeds would look incredible in this! Since there are a few extra charms in the packs, you could try a sample block and see how you like it.

she lines the seams up on top of each other. Check out her Poke A Pin video on the channel for a visual of how she does it 🙂🙂
thank you so much Peach. @@peach.lambert
Those are bats! 😍
You could almost turn this into a little bee or sorts. That might birth a new pattern in the future.
Hello Kimberly, have a nice say
I would love to make this. I wanted to use the Buttercup Blooms Charm Pack. What Moda solid would you use. Thank you for the help.
Gerri recommends Riley White for that line, if you want to use Moda, I'd use 9900-98 White Bleached :)

Can you use triangle paper with this pattern?
Hello Brenda! We do not recommend TOAR for this pattern.
I was wondering why Kimberly didn’t use triangle paper for this quilt?
Hello Nancy! She didn't feel it was necessary and it was not suggested in the pattern.

Can not download the pattern!
Hello Eagleeyes51! Try making sure that you do not have pop-ups blocked on your device.
Fun! But they look like kitty cats to me. Lol!
Exactly what I thought! A Halloween prints charm and black backgrounds would make the cutest kitties!
Oh great idea!
That's exactly why I purchased the kit!! LOL I have 2 solid black cats but this isn't for me
Can triangle paper be used for this
Hello Karen! We do not recommend TOAR for this pattern.
