Kimberly, one thing i appreciate about your tutorials is your dedication to accuracy. I watch other youtube quilt tutorials but i always come back to you because of your consistency in doing and teaching. Like in this tutorial on the details on accurate cutting. Thanks for taking the time to show us your tips!! Thanks also for being SO DETAILED!! Is so appreciated!! You have taught me SO much!!
Team pin for sure! I've learned the hard way that I need to pin all of the intersections. It takes more time but, for me, the results are sooo much better that it's worth it.
That is so cute using the Sweetwater fabrics...and what a quick pattern to put together. I have used their "Vintage" mini charms for placemats. This quilt reminds me of the 50s!
This quilt just goes to prove you don't have to make a gazillion HSTs to make a lovely quilt. Sometimes simple is best. Thanks Kimberly. Joining the pinning team.
For the longest, I did not pin, but after watching your videos (from waaaay back), I started that practice and I have to say, I get a much more precise finish. So I am now Team Pin!
@@robertaarrowsmith2860 I'm with you on the cutting!! I did a project from Gudrun Erla's RUclips that used up leftover Honey Bun strips so having these 1.5" left would work great. Or as @Shelly Richards said above-use them for crumb blocks-which I've been on a roll making :)
I cannot thank you enough Kim for all the free, easy patterns you give us!!! I’m excited because this is a pattern I can use for any fabric that is sold as a precut!
Thank you for another great tutorial and free pattern Kimberly and FQS. I’m definitely Team Pinning. I’m always amazed when quilters are able to get such perfect intersections without pinning. But it’s pinning for me! See you next time.
Small scraps put out in basket for birds to use in nest building. Also fill suet feeders with scraps and hang in tree. Watch the birds gather scraps for nesting.
I definitely pin seam intersections. Buying mini charms is so addictive but expensive. I’ll use a layer cake plus mini charms and charm packs from coordinating fabric lines to make a scrappy quilt.
I was gifted a huge box of 80’s era poly pillow stuffing. I’ve been chopping up my tiny scraps of batting and fabric with my rotary cutter and adding those crumbs to my free pillow stuffing. No one knows but me what’s in those pet beds and pet toys and it keeps it from going in the trash.
Kimberly, one could also use the original Stripology Ruler, for you only have to lift the ruler after cutting the strips and turn it to them make the second cut for the 2.5 squares. I’m a big fan of pinning.
I pin at the intersections to keep crisp lines as needed. Otherwise usually no pinning. As a former clothing sewer less pins and removing them as I go was new to me. I learned to sew over pins and rarely if ever broke a needle back in the day!!
I'm 74 and have been sewing all my life. I was taught to sew over pins. Always have and have never had one problem. Never have understood why people are so afraid of sewing over pins.
Very cute, easy pattern. I pin more than I used to. I guess I’ve gotten more into quality than quantity. Being careful matching makes such a difference.
Thank you so much for being so generous and offering free patterns. This is so cute and looks super easy. Hahahaha, sometimes I pin and sometimes I don't.
It's a really sweet quilt. I love the gingham look. And yes, our sewing rooms should be as cute as possible. It's very inspiring that way. Thank you for the toot.
I pin all my seams. Also, I press my blocks and trim if necessary. I love this quilt pattern. I thank you for all the beautiful free patterns and tutorials. As I am on SS my funds are limited for necessities . I have loads of fabric to use. I edited this message. 👍😊💕
Sometimes I pin, and sometimes I don’t. If I am matching seams or trying not to cut off tips (like in flying geese), then I pin. I also tend to pin when I add borders so I don’t stretch the fabric. If I am just straight stitching squares, strips or rectangles together, I don’t pin. Cute pattern. Thank you so much for providing so many free patterns and videos!
Very nice! I just got 2 big orders form you where I ordered lots of mini charm packs in similar colour values as I just wanted a little sample of the fabric lines, but I had no plan. Now I have a plan:) Thank you! I am Team Pin!
I really appreciate that you showed so many steps - like how you sort and choose your A/B groups of fabrics from a layer cake. Every suggestion of how others do things is nice to know!
I use more pins for garment sewing than patchwork because of slippery fabric and curved seams but I love wearing my wrist pincushion so I always have pins on hand when I feel it’s beneficial.
Huge Thank you to you and your team! I'm learning so much. I got clappers and now I can't imagine not having them. I tried triangle paper... I'm stuck. Be safe and keep sharing and teaching ❤❤❤❤
It depends on what I am doing, but I do pin quite a bit! Especially when I am joining the rows together for making my tops. This is gorgeous in the Christmas colors, but I definitely see it scrappy! 💜 Thanks for sharing, and happy quilting! 🧵💜
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I started making this in March and completed it in August, it was all hand sewn and hand quilted. It's a great pattern and super starter for a beginner like me.
team pinny most of the time - always when matching seams, but chain piecing certain lengths - i don't. those strips can be used for clothesline baskets - anything 3/4" to 1" wide. love the mason jar decoration idea - particularly for Christmas fabrics! thanks for another great tutorial.
When I am working in a block like this I have used a bag dumped all the squares in and shake up to get a good mix then reach in and pull out and start chaining. Worked every time. Do very little moving around.
I pin at intersections for sure. What a fun quilt! It might be interesting to use 3 different mini charm packs with similar colors, along with the one matching the layer cake, to get a more scrappy look!
Thank you so much for showing this method of organizing the block and chain piecing! I am just teaching myself to piece by machine. Years ago when I learned hand piecing I was taught to look at blocks in horizontal rows. I am interested in making doll and mini quilts. Your methods will translate very well in my journey. Thank you again!

Me, too!
Team pin for sure! I've learned the hard way that I need to pin all of the intersections. It takes more time but, for me, the results are sooo much better that it's worth it.
Me, too. I've also learned the hard way. My Longarmer is very impressed with my "junctions" .
I used to not pin, but after watching your tutorials I now pin and I have noticed a lot better results. Thanks.
I pin now, but I used to not. My prices are much nicer now that I do pin. I was a skeptic, but I’m a believer now! Thanks Kimberley. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
Thanks! 👌💖😇
I am team pinning because of you Kimberly.
Same!
For the longest, I did not pin, but after watching your videos (from waaaay back), I started that practice and I have to say, I get a much more precise finish. So I am now Team Pin!
You can use those strips for paper crafts, or sew the ends together to make fabric yarn balls and crochet them to make cute rugs or pet pads
How do you do that Marcy? Do you sew them first and then crochet them?
I make string blocks and crumb blocks. Anything that is at least 3/4" I'll utilize in a scrap block. Anything smaller can be used to stuff a pet bed.
Great idea!
I would probably cut the 8.5 square so I had 1.5 strips left over for another project as well. But I thought the scraps in a jar was a cute idea.
That was brilliant
I cannot thank you enough Kim for all the free, easy patterns you give us!!! I’m excited because this is a pattern I can use for any fabric that is sold as a precut!
I am a pinner! I love seeing a tutorial on Tuesday!! Thank you so much!!
I'm Team Pinner! I get better results when I pin! Love the gingham-y look to this quilt! Thank you! 🥰
Since watching you I’m team pin it really makes a difference!
Thank you for another great tutorial and free pattern Kimberly and FQS. I’m definitely Team Pinning. I’m always amazed when quilters are able to get such perfect intersections without pinning. But it’s pinning for me! See you next time.
I am not a pinner. Great job today. Thiz is the most relaxed I have ever seen you! Thanks for all you do.
Small scraps put out in basket for birds to use in nest building. Also fill suet feeders with scraps and hang in tree. Watch the birds gather scraps for nesting.
I’m team, no pinning. Very cute quilt and fun tutorial.👍🏻
Thanks Kimberly ❤️
I'm a non-pinner. Plus I fingerpress as I go. Nice pattern.
I definitely pin seam intersections. Buying mini charms is so addictive but expensive. I’ll use a layer cake plus mini charms and charm packs from coordinating fabric lines to make a scrappy quilt.
Awesome thanks for sharing
I am team pinning. I have much better blocks when I pin. You tutorials have taught me so much. Thank you so much.
Not a pinner most to the time. Love the quilt!! Thanks for sharing.
Nice demo for using Mini charm packs!
Definitely Team Pinner
I am a pinner! And I've learned a few tricks from you about it, so thanks Kimberly!
I didn't pin, however I now pin. I see the excellent results that you got. Thank you for all you do
I was gifted a huge box of 80’s era poly pillow stuffing. I’ve been chopping up my tiny scraps of batting and fabric with my rotary cutter and adding those crumbs to my free pillow stuffing. No one knows but me what’s in those pet beds and pet toys and it keeps it from going in the trash.

Love the fabric! Love the pattern! Pin all the way!!
Thanks for the free patterns!
Those scraps good for string blocks.i use down to 3/4".
Great tip moving ruler up, not to side!
Your trick for organizing and chain piecing the mini charms into a larger block is so clever!
I am on Team pin! 😃 Thanks, Kimberly! I can’t wait to make this quilt!
the scraps are great for stuffing stuffed animals, dog toys, dog beds, pin cushions or pillows!
You can cut those scraps into equal lengths and tie time onto a length of thick twine. It makes a cute rustic bunting.
And just when I thought I could get my projects under control! Going to add this to my list. I'm part of team pinning!
I generally do not pin and if I do, not as much as Kimberly does! I appreciate her accuracy and I always learn something! Thanks!
Such a cute, quick pattern! I'm a non-pinner 95% of the time, sometimes I'll pin borders but that's about it. Thx FQS team for all you do ! 💖
CUTE Quilt, Kimberly. Love your way of sewing the squares together.
Very cute, easy pattern. I pin more than I used to. I guess I’ve gotten more into quality than quantity. Being careful matching makes such a difference.
Thank you for the very cute free pattern and especially for the tutorial! So generous! Love FQS! I am on Team Pin! Rah! Rah! Rah!
Kimberly, I love the way you teach. You always give us such great tips that new quilters, like me, would not think about. Thank you!
Debbie, are you from Australia? I had a Friend from Australia when we lived in Kuwait but I've lost her and have been looking for several years. ❤💕🇺🇸
Such a cute project! And team pinner.🙂
So cute! I’m mostly no pin but on occasion I revert back to the way I was taught and pin. Thank you!
Thank you so much for being so generous and offering free patterns. This is so cute and looks super easy.
Hahahaha, sometimes I pin and sometimes I don't.
I am team non-pinning on small piecing! This looks like a fun pattern to work on as a leader and ender!
Such a lovely quilt. Thanks for sharing!
Fabric & Pattern are so cute!
Team Pin and Team Glue.
It's a really sweet quilt. I love the gingham look. And yes, our sewing rooms should be as cute as possible. It's very inspiring that way. Thank you for the toot.
Team PIN all the way, thanks for this tutorial

Team Pinner here! My DBF watched this video with me this morning. 😀
VERY little pinning for me!
Thank you for these tutorials. I have learned to cut accurately now and solved my past headaches.
Love the chain piecing tip.

I am team pinning! Works the best for me. Thanks for another free pattern with a great tutorial. Blessings and take care.
Can’t wait to make this quilt!
Team Pin always! Thank you for the tips on chain piecing. I've been using it more and more.
Love this!
I really appreciate that you showed so many steps - like how you sort and choose your A/B groups of fabrics from a layer cake. Every suggestion of how others do things is nice to know!

Can’t wait to try this one.
Very easy and beautiful! Thanks!
Huge Thank you to you and your team! I'm learning so much. I got clappers and now I can't imagine not having them. I tried triangle paper... I'm stuck. Be safe and keep sharing and teaching ❤❤❤❤
I like to pin, I think of pins as handlebars and I’m driving home with perfection!
And that inch and a half strip will make lots of fun stuff too. :D
Que lindo todo y que trabajo que haces más bonito te veo siempre 😍
I love your quilts. I wanted to let you know that I use pins just because I feel better to do it that way.
Thank you for sharing this pattern. I would take the scrap material and tie it to twine with mini ornaments to decorate with
Team pin!❤️ love this pattern!👍🏻
It depends on what I am doing, but I do pin quite a bit! Especially when I am joining the rows together for making my tops. This is gorgeous in the Christmas colors, but I definitely see it scrappy! 💜
Thanks for sharing, and happy quilting! 🧵💜
I always pin I find I’m more accurate when I do so. Good video thank you
Thank you so much for the tutorial, I started making this in March and completed it in August, it was all hand sewn and hand quilted. It's a great pattern and super starter for a beginner like me.
I go through phases. Currently I am a pinner! Cute quilt!
I am a team pinner!! Thanks for the wonderful tutorial!!

I use very few pins. I “sew and hope”! 😉
I love this one! Thanks for giving us so many wonderful free patterns and tutorials! FQS is the best ❤️
Sew cute! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and talents with us!
You could also use those leftover strips to make those fabric balls you demonstrated in your video last week!
i just ordered this Kimberly rotating cutting mat. i cant wait to try it out.
you can tie those strips on a wreath form for decoration.
! Great Idea
I love this pattern. The colors are beautiful and this could easily be given as a Christmas gift to someone you love.
The Olfa Endurance blades are great. Am not a pinner most of the time but do use the Wonder Clips which are wonderful!
You could also take the strips And tie them to string and make those rag ribbon banners/Garland
I'm a pinner but still doesn't always come out right. Thanks for a great video Kimberly!
Team Pinny!!
I would use those strips for string blocks. I’m definitely team pin when nesting seams. Thanks for all your great videos ❤️
That's what I'm doing with all my scraps.
You should tie those strips of fabric on a wire wreath form.
Team pinning 👍
