At 87 years old I am on my 6th quilt. I have been a dressmaker and kilt maker all my sewing days and so quilting is my latest fun thing to do. thank you for this inspirational class. x
Thank you ) for laying out the peaced block that we’re working on at present , it helps to see what we’re working on , makes it easier to peace.❤ keep them covered❤
❤ the layer cake block tutorials, it's so much fun when they're all together in one video. Wonderful job explaining each one, I always enjoy your cheerfulness 🙂
Guess what you did!?!?! You got my 6 year old granddaughter excited about piecing a quilt! I have been working on an EPP project (over 800 hexies so far) and my Marley has basted a few. I'm going to add a section uning charm packs and we watched your video for ideas and you would think wewe're watching the newest princess movie!!!! We were both squealing with delight! Thank you for helping to make quilting accessible to a novice like me AND to the future generations! Gayle.
Super helpful ideas.. all great blocks! I like to sew simple but want my quilts to look like I worked hard... these blocks all look that way! Thank you!
Thank you Katrina for such a great variety of easy to make blocks. It is often difficult for me to decide on an appropriate pattern with which to use my lovely, and expensive, layer cakes.
Just learning how to make a quilt. Love all of the layer cake blocks. They are all real pretty. Thank you so much for showing us new quilt makers how to make a beautiful quilt. Love all of your patterns. Thank you so much Katrina.
I love all of your tutorials. I am a beginner quilter. I love fabric and I never know what pattern to use or how to make a block. You break it down so simply and I really appreciate it. I think I can make quilts now using layer cakes. That’s another thing…. I never know how to purchase fabric that I love because I don’t know what I am going to make with it!! Now I do!!!!!!
Quilting, where you are constantly learning something new! I learned today and easier way to join the seams of two blocks together before sewing them together. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing all different methods to do the square. Helps me so much; I am a beginner and you give me inspiration every time I watch your videos. I have been following you for around a year and today I found this one. The way you explain is very helpful. Thanks again. Be well ❤❤❤
I am gonna make a guilt by block # two, or I might use all of them together and mix them up together.do I just join the pieces together like you did in the video? Thank you so much for posting these videos, I have learned so much from watching your videos . Thank you so much Kathleen . I am 76 years old and just learning how to make a quilt. Again thank you so much for posting them.🙏🩷💕🌸🫶
Just finished making the patchwork part of my first quilt, which someone described as a 70s vintage vibe. I had to Google as I didnt know what it meant, and is the perfect description! I can't finish it until my backing fabric arrives, so in the meantime, I'll start on a 2nd quilt. Your video has given me a definite idea on what I will do next. Thankyou for a few easy but effective options 💕
Hello Katrina! I love the Cuckoo's Nest block! I would use a focal fabric for the large-ish center and build around that. There are some fabrics that I just can't bear to cut into small pieces. Thanks for your video!
This is a fantastic tutorial! Thank you so much! I've got to get busy cutting.😊 I have four quilts to get done before Christmas, and I am a beginner. 😳 I'm certain that by following all of your instructions it'll be a breeze. Thanks again!!
Thank-you. I like more variety in blocks, so the 4-patch will get cut both ways after the first sewing, the second sewing will be 4 different squares together, every time. I think it will be harder to get pairs away from each other in the layout. So mix more sounds good to me.
I bought 2 matching layer cakes and was waiting for a good pattern. I’d like to make a twin size in one of these patterns. Hopefully they will be enough. Thank you - I always look forward to your tutorials - so knowledgeable and so much fun!

Great compilation of blocks for 10” squares. If only the prepackaged squares were always 10”.
I've found that in the past, it's frustrating so I don't buy them anymore.
