AMAZING!!! Endless possibilities for a matching mini. Another idea for a match to a big quilt. You have a wonderful way to walks us thru. Thank you Laura. your Florida friend
great size for taking in the car for the carseat........and adding another border could easily size it up a little more- 36 inch square is also a great size for a baby
Thank you for this! Very clear directions and such a charming look (yep, I’m corny like that). I have a handful of charm packs I get with fabric orders. Now I know what to do with them
Thank you so much Laura, what a fabulous little quilt that is. Lovely clean lines and stunning and gorgeous too. I really really love 💕 this. Stay safe and well too xx Mags
I’m m new to sewing so I don’t have a “stash” or anything like that built up but I’m completely addicted to grabbing these little guys. Since the closest quilt shop is over 65miles away I usually buy online so it’s a great way to see all the prints in a line and to feel them before I commit to buying a larger amount. Thank you for this great tutorial on how to use some up. I’m going to be making a lot of these!!!
Look online and you can see how many squares you get from 1/4 yard...etc. and can save yourself some money. If you buy from the same fabric line...you cannot go wrong. 😀
Knittingfox Montana good idea problem is after I pay $10 a yd for fabric I break out in a cold sweat when I pick up the rotary blade and have to figure out how to cut it. I’m seriously that new. I should probably just buy some cheap fabric and practice. I actually have a question if I could , I have bought Moda or Riley Blake and it’s nice and soft it said 100% cotton then I bought a quilt kit it also said 100% cotton but it feels slick or”sli-dy” almost like spandex would feel. Do you know why the difference in feel?
Nice!! Set me to thinking...take four of your little quilts to make a row, four rows to make a larger quilt. IF I give this a whirl, I'll let you know. Love your Tuesday & Thursday videos...
Laura, you are awesome, I love watching your demonstrations it gives me the courage to try new techniques. You are my "go-to" for info. Thank you so much! I love your calm voice.
Thank you for yet another great project. Whether we use precut squares or cut our own from leftover fabric, I’m just appreciative that you posted a project that puts these squares to good use.
This is one of the many family quilts our Aunt Lois used fabric to make for the little ones in the family. She was actually a Great Aunt with only foster children.
This is soooo absolutely adorable. You are a magician at that sewing machine, and make me feel like getting busy for Christmas projects. I LOVE watching you and learning. Your soothing voice and calming sewing techniques are fabulous. Thank you for the wonderful projects, and thanks for making me feel that I can do it. You’re a genius... jo
This is wonderful! I have extra charm pieces and 2 1/2 strips in my stash that would be perfect for this and turn it into a wonderful quilt with sashings
That was very interesting and informative.. love your silver hair!... I'm silver in the front and salt/pepper in the back. Perhaps a tutorial on caring for silver hair.
Ahh Laura what a lovely treat to wake up to on a blustery autumn morning here in the UK it’s so cute and I’ve already raided my leftover strips and got them cut into my own mini charm pack. Thank you so much for making my day brighter x
What a great little pattern .. I’ll be putting one of these together soon. Would even be great for those 5’ charm packs that I have no idea what to do with
Lovely! I have this mini charm pack (and many others). This is a great pattern and could be made int to a a quilt with using more mini charms! I do enjoy your videos, thank you for continuing to produce them. XOXO
Thank you for sharing this pattern Laura, I love it! I have many mini charms from my favorite fabric line (Kansas Troubles) and I will start making table toppers!
Just came across this video. I love the pattern and would love to make a quilt for my sister using 5 1/2 squares. I just don’t know how much background fabric to get, and the measurements for each row. Is that doable? Thank you.
Have you made a Jelly Roll Rug tutorial? I would love to learn how to make one with the left over fabric I have from a quilt i made. The thought of a rug matching the quilt is adorable.
This turned out so cute! I would love to see it finished after binding and back are put on it. :) I have this same charm pack sitting in my sewing room right now. Guess it's calling my name. lol :D TFS! xoxoJanet
I did a little math, and you will need at least 3 yds, same layout with the 36 in the center with the four corners. and each block is 5" which means the border and long strips need to be also 5" wide. The quilt would be 65" square. I just used graft paper so I'm not 100% sure. What did you come up with?

@@SewVeryEasy I'm new to quilting so I didn't know how to figure it out I want to make a matching quilts for baby and mom thank you for your response this sounds perfect
Why buy a mini charm pack when you can make one from scraps from other projects. This seems to me as such a waste of money as we are all trying to use our scraps why buy more scraps.
Little Urban Homestead - I have a few of these that I’ve gotten as bonus items in an order or quilting box subscription, so I’m thrilled to see a suggestion for how to use one. It’s a great stashbuster idea for leftovers from jellyrolls also.
I am thrilled that you can use these extras that they put in your quilting box. or leftover jelly rolls. I might do the same but my jelly rolls (or charm squares) are from leftover yardage from previous projects, therefore no expense.
I have a foot in both camps but as I don’t have a mini charm pack I was forced to cut up my treasured Kaffe Fassett leftovers into my own mini charm pack.
Hi, we are not all in the same thought patterns, so our ideas come from all different directions, just like our quilts. Thank you for pointing out that we can use our scraps😃
AMAZING!!! Endless possibilities for a matching mini. Another idea for a match to a big quilt. You have a wonderful way to walks us thru. Thank you Laura. your Florida friend
This would make a great center for a quilt and built it out suing different pieced and plain borders! Like a friendship quilt!
That would be a sweet little doll quilt or bassinet quilt! Love it!
great size for taking in the car for the carseat........and adding another border could easily size it up a little more- 36 inch square is also a great size for a baby
What a great size for a lap quilt for my friends in wheelchairs! Thanks, Laura!

I just purchased a mini charm named Violet from Moda, and I will make the project that you taught here. Thank you very much!!

What a cute quilt! I absolutely ❤ the fabric collection you chose for this project.
I love this pattern. I needed something easy to sew today and this is it!
Beautiful. Laura, even your back is perfectly tidy. How do you keep the stray threads under control?
This is wonderful! I have extra charm pieces and 2 1/2 strips in my stash that would be perfect for this and turn it into a wonderful quilt with sashings

Awesome. I have an idea. What if you made 4 to 6 quadrants? Than add inner border and outer border of coordinating fabric.
Aww I want to see the finished quilt please
I see an adorable wall hanging! Thanks for sharing!!
I have so many 2 1/2 inch squares now i can use these in your idea thank you
Love your tutorials!!!!
Very clever pattern. Love it
In the film “Groundhog Day” the quilt they used was this pattern but smaller pieces. It was lovely. Seemed to be postage stamp size perhaps.
I remember pausing that movie to admire and study that quilt.
Thank you for a lovely idea! I often think the mini charms are adorable but could never think of a reason to buy them.
Il like the way you show to create your patterns it’s made it very easy thank you for the beautiful video
Monic
Would have liked to have seen the finished quilt. 🤗

Kim I was thinking the same thing so I drew a pattern on graph paper using 5" charms and Laura's measurements. I will have a nice lap quilt.
Cute little project

No not yet, but it is on my list:)
if i used a charm pack would i just cut the strips 5inches by the length in the your quilt?
Super cute idea!
Hi Laura! Love this cute little quilt!
Do you know how to make this using 3 1/2” squares?
I’m not sure how to figure it out.
Thank You!
Cathy
This turned out so cute! I would love to see it finished after binding and back are put on it. :) I have this same charm pack sitting in my sewing room right now. Guess it's calling my name. lol :D TFS! xoxoJanet
So pretty. Thank you
That is adorable
So beautiful..!!!!!🌸💮🌹🌺💋💞
Thanks for sharing
Too cute! 💕💕
Love it!
So cute, Laura! Thanks for a great project idea. How much fabric did you need for the backing?
a 30" square
Lovely ✂️✂️✂️✂️💕❤️💗
Thankyou!
Love it
2 yards with a regular charm pack? Not sure though.
I did a little math, and you will need at least 3 yds, same layout with the 36 in the center with the four corners. and each block is 5" which means the border and long strips need to be also 5" wide. Do you have a pdf available of the cutting instructions & layout? Thanks!!
No, just the video :)
SewVeryEasy. No worries - I’ll use good old fashioned pencil & paper 😊
That is how I came up with this lol
What size table do you assemble on?
8' x 4'
How much background fabric would you need if you use 5-inch charm squares
Dora McCrite Double the amount. 2.5+2.5= 5.
Not sure what you mean, Dora.
I would start with 2 yards, a I do not know the math for that

What brand of quilt thread are you using at 5:59?

And then try another with a regular charm pack.

Little Urban Homestead I actually like them because they are all coordinating fabrics. Since I am color challenged the pre-cuts work perfect for me.
I have a foot in both camps but as I don’t have a mini charm pack I was forced to cut up my treasured Kaffe Fassett leftovers into my own mini charm pack.
