2 Panel Quilts with the Same Panel but Different Borders

- I now have 2 granddaughters and today I have 2 panel quilts to share. Now anyone who has 2 children or grandchildren knows they should be gifted quilts equally. That being said - you can't give them the 'same' quilt because a war will ensue. I guess you could put their name on it, but what is the challenge in that? Instead I have decided to, in addition to waiting until the last minute, stress over how to border these Easter panels. I wanted to share new and exciting ways to border your panels and yet, I was struggling with coming up with new innovative ways to border a panel. So I decided, thank you Mary, to add fabric borders to one of them. While not new and exciting, it is a tried and true way to feature a panel and will never let you down. The other panel quilt features an experiment and you all will have to tell me if you like it or do not like it.
I also want to thank Mary for the binding inspiration for the fabric border quilt - plaid. It just added the perfect amount of eye candy to the quilt. Thank you Mary for sharing your adorable Easter quilt and helping me figure out what to do with my Easter panel.
The moral of the story is, your quilt patterns don't always have to be new and innovative. When you are struggling with what to do with your fabric, you can always turn to the tried and true methods used for years to create a beautiful piece of art that will be appreciated by the recipient. The person receiving your quilt doesn't care what pattern you used, only that you cared enough about them to spend your time an effort to make them a quilt. Thank you Mary for reminding me.

I’m currently working on a quilt and realized my backing was just short of being wide enough. I was stumped Bc I didn’t want to buy more fabric. You putting that strip on the back.. genius! I actually have some coordinating fabric left that I can use! Problem solved! Thank you!! Love watching you. I should also let you know I only started quilting in August of 2021. So learning as I go lol

Your the greatest. Oh and Oliver is so sweet. My black, & white fluffy cat insists if Oliver can be your assistant, then my cat Smokey is going to be mine.
I told him we can sew together but absolutely no chocolate for Smokey. ( not cause it's bad for cat's, but cause I'm selfish) Mine all Mine. lol.

I like them both. I got my quilt mojo back just in time for my hand to give out. So I just decided to cut out a bunch of quilts then sew them later. I am loving all the pastels right now. You have to let us know which one your granddaughter picked.

I'm in a rut also. Today I just sat at my sewing machine and did mindless pieceing wih scraps. It is a little like putting a puzzle together without knowing what the out come will be. I find it relaxing and fun. I wonder if finishing some of my UFOs would make me happy?
It will not stop raining. I need to work in my gardens and mow the yard.
I love that you do that ... I bet it takes up alot of PROJECTS off your table .. finishing un-finished projects .. there is an idea for thought ... LOL

Hi April, I really enjoy your videos. Have you done a child's quilt that has "busy stuff" like squares with pockets that have fasteners (button and buttonhole, snaps, laces, hooks, zips, etc)? I can't figure out how to avoid the "swallowing hazard" .
No .. I haven't done one of those yet.. but would love to attempt it for my youngest granddaughter .. I will have to look into that more and see what I can come up with

I’m going to be a nana again!!! My daughter and her husband FaceTime us on Sunday to announce that she is pregnant. This is not our first grandchild. His son has three daughters and my son has a stepson.
I’m in a pickle. I want to make a gender neutral baby blanket with a botanical theme. They both have careers in the same floral nursery. Dad is a professional landscaper and mom takes care of the live plants. I thought a botanical themed blanket would fit in for boy or girl. Do you have any idea where I can find fabric/panel? I’m going to keep it simple. The baby will be due late November to early December so I want it cozy. What is the best batting?

I find the green border is fighting with the panel...it´s too bolt, it takes the focus away from the panel
