That’s awesome! Really it’s just a matter of looking at your panel and figuring out how big you want the quilt to be and then how can you get it that big! Lol Thanks for watching! I’m having a live with Jo from Quilts-by-Carmel Saturday August 5th @ 1 eastern time… I hope you can drop in! We’re doing a panel challenge!
Thank you so much! Those colors were definitely a challenge but I loved them and mom did so success! Thanks for watching and please subscribe if you haven’t! 💚
I had an aha moment when you said you added borders to turn your panel into multiples of 4” increments. I have an 8” accuquilt Qube that makes 4” finished blocks and I had a mental block on how to make my blocks fit my panel. You did it! I understand. Thank you.
This makes me feel so good! Sometimes we hear stuff over and over without that aha moment! I’m so glad I helped it click! 💚 I saw Jenny at MSQC say never try to fit your blocks to your panel, make your panel fit your blocks! Thanks for watching and for your kind words! I hope you’ll stick around as I fumble around with more panels! I have LOTS!!!
I look forward to more panel tutorials! I've made one baby quilt with a panel, and it was one of the most difficult quilts I've ever done! But I have quite a few panels in my stash that people have given me, and I'd like to do something with them.
Join in! It really is fun to see a quilt come together so quickly! I think if you look at the panel and think about what could go around it other than just borders, you get inspiration! Thanks for watching! 💚
Thanks! That was probably the hardest part! I’m sure there were coordinates that came with it originally because they were very unusual. Thank you for watching! It means so much! 💚
Love the panel ideas, Ginger! The mix of all those patchwork blocks is a perfect way to bring in some wonderful color! I'm one to stays away from them b/c it can get too fussy for me. I may have to take another look! LOL Happy Quilting!
Thanks! After buying so many I figured I should start trying to use them! Lol once I’ve gotten over the idea that using a panel is cheating, I’ve been having fun! Thanks for watching… I love your channel! 💚
Thank you so much! It’s an honor to have people watch and comment on my videos! Yes… please pull those panels out and after (not if) you’ve made some up, please share over in my Facebook group… just search Copycat Quilter. Please like, share, subscribe and all that other groovy stuff if you haven’t already! 💚
Thanks! I’m glad you found it useful! I still have many more to go! lol. Thanks for watching… please subscribe if you aren’t and you’ll see when I post more! 💚
Great tutorial. I have 2 panels I have set aside and will now pull out and work on. Just 1 suggestion: take a photo of the quilt layout! Then you can refer to the photo to be sure you have everything where you planned it. Also, if you turn the photo in a black and white photo, you can easily see where your lights and darks are and if you need to move anything. You can also use the black and white trick when deciding on which fabrics you want to use to balance the lights and darks BEFORE you start cutting and piecing..
Those are some grreatt suggestions Grranny! 😃 Thanks for watching! I have a playlist of other panel videos if you haven’t found them already! Please subscribe if you haven’t! I appreciate you watching!
I dug a panel out last week and started on it. I’m using my stash for the rest of the fabric. The quilt is kind of growing organically, which is not usually how I work. 😜 But it’s looking good so far and I am filming as I go. I have another panel that I don’t know what to do with. This is helpful, Ginger. Thanks!
Awesome! I probably have about that many too! But, I also have a few more babies to make some for so that will help… unless I happen upon some new ones! Lol Don’t miss the collab… my friend set herself a goal of working through her panels in 2023 and it’s going to be fun to see what we both come up with. We’ll go live together August 5th… more to come on that! Thanks for watching! 💚
Have you seen Fabric Patch scrap quilt with panel blocks? It would be a great option for one of your projects. Loved this, and some things you said really reminded me of that quilt.
I just googled… they have some great patterns! Thanks for sharing! Please stick around and especially join the live on August 5th when another RUclipsr joins me with her panels. 🤩
Thank you! The colors were a challenge since I couldn’t change the panels but I did like how it turned out and so did mom to be! Thanks for watching and if you haven’t already please subscribe. And, if you have quilty buddies, a share wouldn’t hurt either! 😎 The live is going to be August 5th and should be lots of fun!
Get them out and sew along with us! It’s not hard if you just play around with them. 😎 Please subscribe if you haven’t and share with anyone you know who is a secret panel stasher, lol! Thanks so much for watching and commenting… it means a lot! 💚
I really like the fabric that you found to coordinate with your sweet panels. They turned out great 👍. I'm looking forward to more Panel Palooza tutorials. I love panels but struggle with how to work in blocks to make them shine.
Thanks Marsha! I started this Palooza because of exactly what you said… they are so pretty look at but then you’re like “now what?!?” Please stick around to see more… I have more babies to make quilts for and lots more panels, so… 😂 and if you haven’t, please subscribe and share 💚
Eautiful project completed, thanks for showing us how you worked through the design process and your reasons for your choices that helps a lot. Thanks again I love this idea also have panels gathering dust lol
Thanks Loreen! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Please hang around for more and especially the collaboration. It’ll be fun to hear much we think alike or differently. If you haven’t, please subscribe and share. If you have, 💚💚💚
I have seen so many panels that I just loved but did not buy. To tell the truth, I am AFRAID of panels ,😮! I have done two panel quilts and both were a nightmare. Without details, when I went back to the quilt shop to complain that the panel was badly distorted or cut incorrectly, she showed me the bolt and said that they were all that way and that most panels were distorted. Have you found this to be the case?
I have seen some that are. There are a lot of videos out there that show how to straighten them. Unless it was way off, I probably would just cut it as square/rectangular as I could and just be ok that it was a little skewed. It probably doesn’t matter as much with smaller panels. Don’t be afraid of them, lol… please subscribe if you haven’t and even share with a friend or two! 😎 I’m filming the next episode now with a panel that can be used whole or cut apart. Thanks for watching!
These came out beautifully! I’ve used panels for baby quilts before & have quite a few more to use. Thanks for the inspiration! New subscriber here. I love to use my scraps.
@@michele.the.quilter6174 Welcome! Glad you’re here! Most of my quilts are scrappy or at least fabrics I put together. I don’t typically buy collections although the next quilt in the series comes from a fat quarter bundle I bought with a panel. Thanks for watching and subscribing! 💚
Thank you for your information. I have never done a panel as I have never known what to do. So now I do there will be no stopping me in the future ❤
That’s awesome! Really it’s just a matter of looking at your panel and figuring out how big you want the quilt to be and then how can you get it that big! Lol

Your panels are beautiful. The colors you chose are perfect. Thank you for sharing. God bless.
Thank you so much! Those colors were definitely a challenge but I loved them and mom did so success!

I have had 2 Frozen panels for years and keep putting them to the side. Your process really makes sense to me so a big thank you to you.
Awesome! The more I play with them the more I’m enjoying them!
Thanks for watching!

Love the colors/fabrics you found to work with these panels.
Thanks! That was probably the hardest part! I’m sure there were coordinates that came with it originally because they were very unusual.

Your video series is going to help me with a big problem…even bigger than my book and scrap problem. Great job! 😊
Thanks! I have plenty of panels to play with! 🤣

I always work organically (means I can’t finish a quilt from a pattern, lol)
Thanks for watching! More panel palooza to come! 😂
I have about 15 panels I need to use up. I’m excited for your palooza!
Awesome! I probably have about that many too! But, I also have a few more babies to make some for so that will help… unless I happen upon some new ones! Lol
