I'm a professional mechanic. On my own vehicles I drive them like I'm going to drive them from the first minute, but, I change the oil at 500 miles, then at 1500 miles, then at 3000 miles, then at 5000 miles and every 5000 after that. On my 2020 5.3 Silverado that works out to between 50 and 45% on the oil life monitor. Mine is a 5.3 8 speed 4x4 with 3.23s and it's sitting on 33x12.5r18 venom power Terra hunters. I drive exclusively in town mostly, and I'm seeing around 12.5 mpg. On the highway at a conservative speed I can get 22 mpg, but I usually run about 73mph and see 19 mpg. I have noticed the dfm system works better with cruise control on because if you're pedal driving and cylinders start disengaging, your brain perceives that the truck is slowing down and you push the gas pedal and re engage all 8 cylinders because the truck thinks you want to accelerate. Cruise control takes the human factor out of it and you can just let the truck do what it does.
Even though I just hit 70 and I putt putt around town in my Colorado, I still feel like a big kid. I love my truck.. I am so super excited for y'all. Again I wish you all the best. Cannnot wait to see the add ons. Y'all STAY WELL&TAKE CARE!!!!! FRANKIE L.I.
Thats really good mileage. Nice looking truck. I picked my new 22 refresh Silverado crew cab RST 4x4 up a week ago. It has the 3.0 in it. I filled up at 520 miles on the tank it still showed 55 miles of range left. Hand calc'd the mileage at 23.1. I couldn't be happier. I live in south dakota and drive 80-85 on the interstate and it seems like it's always windy. Hoping to see even better mileage when I get more miles on it.
I recently just had the best tank of fuel in my pickup so far. 500 miles with 22' RST with 6.2, 10 speed and 3.23 rear gear I believe. Computer said 22.1 average. Every time I manually check MPG and found that the pickup is usually within .1-.2 mpg off. pretty damn close if you ask me. Also, about to turn 15000k and where I live is relatively flatish
happy I got the 3.0L baby duramax... 21 city, red light stop and go, driving and 28-30 on short highway trips, 40+ on long 8 hour drives. Congrats on the new wheels though! can't wait to see you mod this one up!
Lay into it brotha! No matter what you drive, it’s okay to lay into it on an open road. It’s a truck. It works for you not the other way around. Nice truck!
Just bought an LT Silverado with the 3.0 duramax. I'm at 437 miles and still have 3/8 tank left. The screen says 196 miles left. Crazy mileage. I regret nothing buying that truck.
My 2018 double cab redline gets like 20 hwy 75mph, 5.3, 3.42, 6speed. It's now at 95k miles. Only issue is leaking oil cooler lines. I will replace this summer. Good video

gas is cheaper where you are. southern Michigan in 4.59. diesel is 5.30. dad just filled his power stroke for 150.00. love the new truck. Definitely making me want a new one. would like a quick video of the interior at some point if you don't mind.
Dang! I wish my truck got that kind of range. I have a 2022 Colorado ZR2 and my fuel range sucks! I can't wait to see the mods coming to the Sierra. I live in Pelham, so I hope to see your truck on road at some point. Love the videos.
I also have a 22 GMC Elevation Limited or old style inside. I’m getting 19.5 to 20 with highway and town. The ten speed transmission takes a little to get use to but love my truck so far coming up on first oil change. How do you like the digital gauges? Bed liner getting sprayed in soon? And are you going to do a cat back exhaust?
Ooh yeah I feel it. Figured it was just another junk GM trans . It definitely searches a lot for the correct gear . Sucks it's a love hate with the truck.
@@sposatoas258 this is my 3rd GMC 03,07,22 never had a problem with trucks. My 96 jimmy transmission went at 60,000 after that just changed fluids every 50,000 miles
The reason why your 18 was rated better is because your new truck doesn't have DFM(they still aren't putting DFM in the new GM small blocks since last year. Also the aero is better on the K2 chassis because they sit alot lower. The T1 chassis new trucks sit higher and definitely have worse aerodynamics
The best I ever did in my 2018 was 25mpg. That was from Pa. To OBX. I am tickled my 2022 refresh does NOT have that AFM. I'll take the little hit on milage to have lifters last longer

My 8l90 with the 3.23 does that same RPM at 80 mph for reference. Does the truck have parking assist? I don't see those goofy sensors on the bumpers. I thought if you got forward collision avoidance it automatically came with park assist; part of the driver safety package.
My truck is a 5.3 6speed with 3.42s and local I get between 16-17 mpg with true duals and 33s on a trip to Tennessee recently I averaged 19 mpg with heavy traffic on the way back
