Thanks for the tips. A huge tip I learned from my Salesman is that you can lock the multi-pro tailgate by holding down the top button on tailgate until the taillights blink. To unlock repeat the same steps. This will keep you from damaging your tailgate while having a drop hitch inserted. Hope this helps someone. This works on my 2022 GMC Sierra AT4. Needless to say, my wife will never see this video, as far as she's concerned the "turn lights" on the mirror, will never get fixed... LOL
Mind Blown!! Wow, totally impressed with the folding mirrors tip and the windows down!! Brilliant! Honestly, I always wondered why that wasn't a function....Boom, it is!! Thanks GM Jeff!
Jeff, I just bought a 2022 Sierra Elevation 2.7l and can’t thank you enough for all the information you have provided that helped inform my purchase!!!
Great video. I bought the 21 Silverado in October and literally was handed the keys and sent on my way. Probably common knowledge, but I learned yesterday, if you want to listen to the radio with the engine off, you can push the start button without depressing the brake. It will stay on for about 15 minutes.
I have a 2018 Malibu and for about a year I would always start car to roll up windows cause I didn't know if u hit the start without brake it just uses battery, but no one told us either
Those lights inside the box i could see going Bye Bye within the first week lol . LED lights mounted underneath the upper box rail would had been a much better location !
I use all the functions identified in the video on my 2020 Sierra 1500 Denali. I have added several lighting mods that should have been standard on these trucks. I have installed a light under the hood, a light bar under the taligate, truck bed lighting and lights in the step down portion of the multi tailgate.
When you use remote start you click the lock button on the key fob twice then start, it will start and turn on your heat or AC, depending on what you last used. That runs for 10 minutes. If you do the same operation on the key fob a second time, it will warm up or cool down for 20 minutes. Helpful on really hot or cold days.
I just bought a Gmc at4. For past two weeks it seems I learn something new about the truck. I was thrilled to learn about not having to click the unlock on remote and just simply press button on the handles. I had wondered what those buttons were for for the lighting features. Amazing the shit in my older age that excites me. I didn’t know about any of the features you mentioned. I’m coming from a 2007 avalanche which is loaded with outdated but convenient things but this truck amazes me.
Thanks for the informative info.. I knew about 3. Seen the other day supposedly when adding air to the tires the turn signal will blink and horn honk when at correct pressure
Another tip that most people don't know; If you have the factory power retracting running boards, there should be a button towards the back end that extents the running board out and back so you can access the bed easier from the side. You do have to manually push the button again for them to go into their 'stored' position.
These are the nicest looking trucks on the market. Iam a long time loyal customer of GM. They have come along way since my first 1980 square body. I have this truck but in white. The 6.2 has lots of pulling power and pretty good on fuel. The folding tail gate is the best thing going. These trucks are a different driving experience. I hate to park it. The next one I get will be Canadian made built in Oshawa.
Most of the tips I have found out about my GMC I found out by actually reading the owners manual. I placed the manual by the pooper were I get all my best reading done.
On the 2025 models to reset your computer in your dashboard. Say your SIRUSXM isn’t appearing on your 13” screen. While the vehicle is in park and running, go to your phone settings and turn off Bluetooth & WiFi. Once this is done, press the hangup phone button on steering wheel for 15 seconds until the dash goes black-immediately release the hangup button and your dash will reset. Once it does go back to your phone and change back settings. I found this out over the weekend. I bought my truck and couldn’t find several options on my monitor/display screen. The dealer couldn’t get to it until Monday. All weekend I played with the truck watching videos and talking to friends. It works. I showed the service department on Monday, and several of their technicians!
I bought my 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 in January 1,2021 does your dash camera record while you are driving ? Or it's just there to use when you backup in reverse?
I like that Both rear seat backs can be opened to store things in.. Genus :) Also If you have Head up display ( HUD) you can toggle the switch to move the position of HUD up or down on windshield.
Rear facing mirror spot lights are not only found on HD, but 1500s equipped with towing package mirrors. I'll be keeping my '17 6.2 SLT, not enough new to upgrade.
I just bought a 2019 GMC Sierra SLT, I read my owners manual and found about all these features. I use all of them. The one i use the most is the light on the tailgate. My storage container doesn't have electricity, so when I get home at night, it provides plenty of light for me to see inside. Actually, my salesman didn't go over any of these with me. I found them myself. I wish my 2019 Sierra SLT had heated outside mirrors like my 2009 Sierra W/T came with. Oh yeah, at least the left and rear view mirror dims when cars approach from the rear. I think i'd rather have heated outside mirrors.
I knew all this. Not shown... just found on my own. That does not make this video useless. Covering this is priceless for folks who have not took the time to look or maybe missed a few. My 2022 Denali 2500HD also has the trailering package, X31 package, and ultimate package. Tons of buttons and toys. What do they do.... make me smile a lot. :)
There is also an option if you buy the sensors for trailer tires it will read into your system. I tow an expensive show car and opted to do this had a belt seperate on a trailer tire on the way home to Pa from fla, it pops up not only in center screen but also warnign flashes in dash, incredible feature gave me time to slow before total flat and control it , it will handle up to 6 tires and allow you to monitor both pressure and temo of all tires
Our dealer didn't give us our trailer tire pressure monitors until months after delivery. I had to bug them endlessly. Guess they thought I was too stupid to have a full copy of our sticker, or too lazy to continue to bug them, especially since they were several hours away. But eventually they gave up and sent them. For anyone considering getting them DO GET THEM! We were able to see a slow leak that ended up being a big screw in a trailer tire. Got it fixed before it became a bigger issue. Just know that when you get these monitors, a tire person will have to take off all 4 (or 6) of your trailer tires, put in new stems from the inside, and rebead the tires for a fresh seal. It is still 100% worth it!! We used to have a separate trailer tire pressure monitors set with little sensors that screwed into the outside of the tire stem. Easy to put on by yourself, easy to lose if you get tire work done. Worst part is that system never read all 4 trailer tires correctly. One would lose signal and flash warnings, so we eventually ignored the system most of the time. The GMC trailer system in the console is MUCH MUCH better! Watch some videos if you need a little orange signal thing when you first set them up. I got it from Amazon, but ended up not needing it at all, so it sits in the truck toolbin just in case it's needed for the next set of trailer tires or something. (Edit: autocorrect changing my words. Grr)
2019 and newer LTZ on up come with remote trailer tire pressure/temp sensors. This allows you to monitor your trailer tires on the infotainment screen.
some things that you forgot like seats vibrate or truck beeps as you get close to someting when parking. also reminder that you put something in the back seat. You can also set your ac/heater cool/heated seats automatic when you start you truck remotely it will set it base on the temp. You can set your door button to unlock all doors when you press it or only open driver. you can set you doors to unlock when you park i keep it off for safety reasons. you can set truck to valet parking so they dont mess with your truck. If you need your car towed and need to put into Neutral but don't want to start the engine (e.g., put DEF in your diesel tank) press the Start/Stop button without putting your foot on the brake and hold it in for 10 sec., The instrument panel will come alive and you can now press on the brake and shift into neutral without starting the engine. Also useful when you just need to roll a few inches or feet (on an incline or decline) and don't want to start the engine.
With all ofnthe features on cars and trucks these days it takes a long time for salesmen to be able to go over them at delivery time. Not sure if you guys do this, but a lot of dealerships are employing delivery specialists. This gives the salesmen more time back on the floor. Plus we have also been scheduling a return visit to go over the features again a week or so later, because it is hard to take in everything on the first time.
You are so correct! They truly is sooo much that even if you tried to tell someone everything while they are there picking it up, there is no way they could remember everything... Always good to reschedule a return appt. to go over more things, and questions the client may have after driving it for a few days!
Something I did when getting the rundown on our new 5th wheel was make a video of the rep going over everything. Being able to refer back to the video saved me quite a few headaches in the first few months 😊
I love these tips videos, but just a suggestion. Not all of us own Denali's. Might be some value in highlighting the differences between trim levels, and how those differences might direct a purchaser to go one direction over another. I love my Sierra 1500 Elevation with the RX31 package. I don't need all of the bling of a Denali, and I love the 3.0L Duramax, so would love to see more content directed to some of the lower trim level packages.
do the windows roll back up with the remote? I would rather have the ability to roll windows up (say your car is parked outside and it starts pouring rain)
@@neilvollman1294 But some smart programmer will work it into the GMC app and then OnStar will force you to pay a $40 per month subscription to use it.:)
Any possiblity to setup the truck so that it can be connected automatically to my iphone as a personal hotspot? It has to be connected manually every time the car is started.
Yeah that reverse tilt for the mirrors was something I didn’t know my truck had, I had a 2006 gmc Denali Sierra that had that exact same feature as well.
The All-Windows-Down feature is nice, I suppose, but how about the reverse? Ever get caught a couple hundred feet from your truck with a window half way down, and the heavens open up and rain comes down a-hellin' ? It might be nice to hit a remote button and have the open window close up.
I have a 2023 GMC Sierra Diesel and I cannot locate the "above panel of three buttons to engage a garage door opener". There are no buttons in the center overhead of the Truck so I'm having to use a separate remote that came with the new garage door opener.. Is this normal or do I have a freak?
The tilted mirror feature only remains tilted for about :30secs. They do not remain tilted if you're in reverse for longer than that. I learned this when backing down my driveway last year. If they do return to their standard operating position, simply stop your vehicle, place it in neutral, drive or park, and then shift back into reverse.
Great stuff here, Thanks Jeff. I haven't found anything that displays a date. Time yes, far right bottom corner, but not date.? Where is the date displayed. Thank you JP
Another thing is. On some 2020 and 2021 the lighter plug when you plug something into it, I will stay on even when the truck is off. To rectify this go into the fuse box and find the fuse for the lighter plug and move it one slot over. Once this I done the plug will turn off with the key.
Hey Jeff, I have a 2021 3500hd Denali dually. I love the new dashboards in the 2023! ITS THE SAME BODY FRAME AND INTERIOR BESIDES THE DASH IN THE 2023. IS IT POSSIBLE TO DO A CONVERSION!? Everyone I asks doesnt know...
My 2018 has the mirror tilt option plus mirror folding in option it just does not has the window down option that I know of. One thing GMC Jeff, they should have a recall on those newer trucks because the springs all go on the truck, look on forums and everyone on there has that issue.
Just now saw your video. I have a 21 Sierra, with the 5.3 and 8 speed tranny. When shifting into gear from a standing start, shift into L7 instead of Drive. The truck will shift normally, but the engine will not shut off when coming to a stop.
My better half calls that button that makes all the windows go down the “fart button”. Because if someone farts in the truck and stinks it out, you can hit that button for immediate evacuation of the foul odor.
Great lessons learned here, Thanks. Now please help me with this issue. On older vehicles if you open the key but don’t actually start the vehicle you can check your fuel level, How do I check fuel level on a 2021 GMC Sierra without starting the truck? Thanks
The open tailgate button on my truck is in a bad place. When I reached for something in the storage space under all the buttons I’ve accidentally hit it twice while going down the freeway. I didn’t realize the tailgate would open at that speed. Is there a fix for this? Maybe there is a way to keep the button from activating the tailgate when pushed. Thanks
I own a 2021 Denali, but so you know, when driving in the city, in navigation mode the radio alerts you to speed cameras, at least two blocks in advance
Just putting this out there for some of the people with older trucks, my truck 08 Silverado 1500 LTZ and by buddys truck 03 suburban z71 both do the mirror tilt in reverse. It is a setting in the gauge cluster menu
you do not have to hold the lock button down to fold the mirrors. When you lock it they will fold. Also if you have lock on leave they will fold after you walk away and the vehicle locks.
Knew most of these, but didn't know about the rear light button turning on the bed lights also. Wish you could do this from the remote since I have a tonneau cover. Anyone know if you can access the display to see fuel level etc, without starting the truck?
Jeff-love you videos brother and I pray that General Motors brings back SFE $$ for y’all instead of skimming the reps who matter and are experts in their field like yourself!
I've been watching for a year or two now. I have a 2020 Denali pickup. I haven't seen that the truck set the parking brake. You can back up to your trailer with the camera on the hitch and stop to let down the trailer that the truck sets the parking brake for you were the truck won't move that 1/2 in or so.
There's actually two rear camera angles when using the 8 second rear tailgate camera while driving. Just tap the camera for different angles. One looking back and the other is looking straight down at the hitch...
Also you can switch the fuse on passenger side to not have the cigarette lighter on a constant if you put a phone charger in it so when you shut off your truck it shuts off or keep it on a constant if you want that. Red fuses
It's not V4/V8 mode anymore...(Unless you have the W/T those still have AFM but LT and above now have DFM) .It's now any combination between 2 cylinders and 8 cylinders at any given time and it's called DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management) what you're referring to is the older system on the 2018 and below called AFM (Active Fuel Management) that only deactivated 4 cylinders) and no, there is no screen to view the DFM as it switches between cylinders in real time on the dash screen like you could before with the AFM trucks.
@3:00 mins, you describe a "HOT SUMMER DAY" as 50 degrees Fahrenheit!? WUSS! A hot summer day is 90*F in NW FLORIDA, US. LOL not for nothing, you did a great job with the video. thank u!
I can say the tilt mirror is more of a pain than a help. With the back up cameras, Morris cameras and overhead camera view, the tilted mirror takes any real view away from you. I turned mine off immediately.
Waiting to see what happens with the 2022 trucks, I an between this and a new F450 . I do love the widetrack front end on the F450. I wish GMC would offer it as an option in the 3500hd dually.

I did learn several things from watching the video. Thank you for sharing!
Yeah that reverse tilt for the mirrors was something I didn’t know my truck had, I had a 2006 gmc Denali Sierra that had that exact same feature as well.
Awesome! 😃👍🏼
Good point, and thanks for the heads up! 😃👍🏼
thats one long ass driveway!
Just got my 2021 Sierra elevation thanks for these little tips
When you have the power running boards there’s a button that moves it to the trunk so you can use it as a step
Thanks. I didn't know about turning on the light for the backup camera.
Great stuff here, Thanks Jeff. I haven't found anything that displays a date. Time yes, far right bottom corner, but not date.? Where is the date displayed. Thank you
JP
Light on the dash +. - to lower the dash lighting, located on the left side
Yes, helpful. Now the trick will be to remember them.
Ha ha… you can always come back and watch again if you wed a refresher Pat 😃👍🏼
I’m curious if the newer Sierra Denali’s have traffic cameras that record while driving?? Thanks for the videos!
Have been researching for a while w no luck on adding GM-OEM front facing cam ‘21 1500 AT4. I’m hoping there is a plug n play option?
Great lessons learned here, Thanks. Now please help me with this issue. On older vehicles if you open the key but don’t actually start the vehicle you can check your fuel level, How do I check fuel level on a 2021 GMC Sierra without starting the truck? Thanks
Jeff, how do I know if my 6.2 Sierra Denali's DFM is activated? Is there an indicator that tells me on instrument panel?
American black beauty, bravo Jeff.
Cheers Jorge 😃👍🏼
The open tailgate button on my truck is in a bad place. When I reached for something in the storage space under all the buttons I’ve accidentally hit it twice while going down the freeway. I didn’t realize the tailgate would open at that speed. Is there a fix for this? Maybe there is a way to keep the button from activating the tailgate when pushed. Thanks
I own a 2021 Denali, but so you know, when driving in the city, in navigation mode the radio alerts you to speed cameras, at least two blocks in advance
Great point Angel!
Are these features available on all trims? I am leaning toward the Elevation.
I have that exact truck. Why do I not feel any air coming out of the rear passenger vents? Is this normal or do I need to take it to the dealer?
Get it checked out... provided the vents are OPEN (obviously) it shares the same fan heat/speed hear as what’s going on up front
Do you know how to deactivate the automatic emergency break when its parked in a uphill?
Thanks, your tips were good on my 2016 model. What I’ve been doing without for 6 years. 🤓
After you remotely fold your mirrors how do you bring them back out?
Do you know how I could make my revers camera show the entire back and not just the floor? For some reason my trucks camera moved.
Yes, depending on the model, it sounds like your hitch camera is one. When I’m reverse deselect the camera that has the picture of the hitch on it
HOW CAN I OPEN THE REAR WINDOW ON 2022 GMC SIERRA DENALI 🙏 AND TANK YOU FOR THE TIPS
Just putting this out there for some of the people with older trucks, my truck 08 Silverado 1500 LTZ and by buddys truck 03 suburban z71 both do the mirror tilt in reverse. It is a setting in the gauge cluster menu
No for sure it’s not a new feature, but one many who have the current generation trucks didn’t know they could do 😃👍🏼
you do not have to hold the lock button down to fold the mirrors. When you lock it they will fold. Also if you have lock on leave they will fold after you walk away and the vehicle locks.
Thank you I learned a lot about my GMC 2019
That always makes me happy to hear! Thanks for commenting and watching!
Knew most of these, but didn't know about the rear light button turning on the bed lights also. Wish you could do this from the remote since I have a tonneau cover. Anyone know if you can access the display to see fuel level etc, without starting the truck?
Press the start button and hold it down for 5 seconds without putting your foot on the brake
The outside temperature should be on the instrument cluster and or on the display when in CarPlay
Red fuses
Tell me where on the gauges that when your V8/V4 mode is located? I have a 2021 Chevy Tahoe and I can find it anywhere on the instrument cluster.
Great features. I learned a ton. Thanks!!
How do you make the daytime running light chase like that dealer shows on one of their 21s
WOW I learned a good bit. Going program now for the windows and the mirrors.
do these work on the 2022 gmc sierra 2500 Denali?
@3:00 mins, you describe a "HOT SUMMER DAY" as 50 degrees Fahrenheit!? WUSS!
A hot summer day is 90*F in NW FLORIDA, US. LOL
not for nothing, you did a great job with the video. thank u!
Is there a button that fixes the lifters when they blow out after 16,000 miles?
Credit card button with 10k in debt. For a.new engine
@@isachar2013 Damn dude… that’s terrible
Folding mirror option I have the Denali thank u
Is this only for Denali’s model or seirras as well ?
Wow I never knew about the mirrors moving when in reverse, I only have an RST 3.0 Duramax but still cool to know, great informative video
Awesome! Thanks so much Adrian! Congrats on that RST Duramax too btw!
I only have a ‘14 Silverado, it has the tilt mirrors as well
I can say the tilt mirror is more of a pain than a help.
With the back up cameras, Morris cameras and overhead camera view, the tilted mirror takes any real view away from you.
I turned mine off immediately.
Doesn't your truck automatically tell you if your inner and outer gate are open?
Thanks for the tailgate light tip!
Waiting to see what happens with the 2022 trucks, I an between this and a new F450 . I do love the widetrack front end on the F450. I wish GMC would offer it as an option in the 3500hd dually.
The 2022 HDs are not changing .. We can already order them
@@GeneralMotorsJeff the Ford's are. They get an updated interior
How do you get the doors to not auto-lock once you get inside the vehicle and start it (or put it into gear)? Or is there no way? Thanks.
Great video. We just picked up our 2022 denali
