Gm bullfrog I know this is not related to the key fob but it is good to know, while filling up your air in your tires if your car is started and you reach them maximum amount of air pressure in your tire. So you don't have to keep checking your air pressure on your dash. It only works if your tire screen is not on your dash! Make sure it's on its speed or something else, not on the tire screen. Secret #4, deep down in the bottomless pit known as the glove compartment there is this magical book. Inside that book lies all of these secrets and many more, for example did you know that these trucks actually have 5 wheels and tires? Yep, it's true. If you look underneath the rear of the truck you will find the illusive 5th wheel and tire, but what's it for? You will just have to read the magical book to find the answer to this secret.
Starting in 2004, the Corvette used a keyless system. It key fob had an internal “Hard Key” inside, but worked behind the color coordinated cover on the drivers rear bumper. Then you could unlock the drivers door by pulling the cable handle, then open the hood normally. But, if the key fob’s battery went bad, you would slide it into a tiny pocket inside the glove box. An internal magnetic field was generated that excites the RFID chip that these share. Infrared is a short-wave light source, like that used on TV’s to change the channel. These too, use a magnetic field. It there is no code sent by a missing key fob, or one that is out of range. Now the negative. Since the air is full of “RF” signals, if close or strong enough, these can mess up a clean RFID signal or RF signal to lock or unlock the vehicle. The most common place this “May” happen, is a the gas station while locking or unlocking a vehicle. Gas pumps are “NOT” all hard-wired to the payment-control console inside. Yep, they use a “Radio Frequency”. This will not bother starting the vehicle as the fob is read differently but unlocking or locking while walking away, yes. There is a TSB on this. Much less, inside, some vehicles like the Corvette have 3 antennas plus extra for secrete place. Also a rolling code is used. Each time the button is pushed, both the FOB & vehicle roll over to the next code. I will not tell you how many, but this is where some brands toyotalexas are easier to copy. If a bad guy is close enough and a customer uses their fob to lock, the use a radio receiver to copy the code. This is entered into a small device, programmed to roll over to the next code and unlock a vehicle. Most all GM’s use a different key fob strategy to challenge the fob with a random code, watch and read its response to allow or deny a start event. This is why GM’s are not on that list. ASE Master-Retired
WOW. Thank you for the insight on the details of how the signals are sent and received within the fob. It is possible for a "bad guy" to intercept the signal and use the codes from your fob to unlock and start your vehicle. At the same time, it is possible for a "bad guy" to pick a lock and hot wire a car to start it. The "bad guys" can be very creative, and its a shame they don't put that ingenuity to good use instead of trying to hurt others.
If the shank of your key has nothing on it, it is pass-lock using 2 hall-effect sensors in lock cylinder housing. If the key is stamped with a “+” symbol, that is a simple immobilizer or pass-key system. If the “+” symbol has a circle around it, this type sends a code when energized, then the electromagnetic coil turns into an antenna, sending a second or challenge code. The RFID chip (The size of a gain of rice / in glass) responds with a random code the theft deterrent system is looking for. It sends a 5 Vdc voltage to the BCM, then class 2 serial data to the PCM to allow cranking, turn on ignition coil and injector functions. This is how the “Push” to start systems work but just with more antennas to detect the presence of the key fob. Therefore if you start the vehicle, everything was in correct sequence and produced the start voltage, you can toss the key fob out and it stays running. If a failure occurs after a proper start event, and a signal or voltage is lost, you will get a “Service Vehicle Soon” light, but the vehicle defaults to backup, allowing you or anyone to start and continue driving. There are dozens of strategies like this one to keep the vehicles owner from having to enter, what I call “Tennis Shoe Mode”. Omaha.
No, just worked on them, diagnosed the root cause, then fixed them. After finding an auto instructors job in the news paper, they called, wanted driver’s license, ASE cert. and for I-9 goverment security, they had to verify the raise state seal on birth certificate. Shortly, I was teaching 4 school classes each week, traveling to 7 states to hold 30+ technical seminars and given 5 warehouse to handle defects/returns for GM. Since I’ve worked w/3 gas engine analyzers in 77 on electronic fuel injected cars (Only Two Sold in 1976 Model Year) the hand full of 56 of us where called “Legacy” instructors. Theft Deterrent was a 4 hour seminar that covered 6 types and introduce the keyless start system. So been there, done that and go a lousy “T” shirt. We changed vehicles every 2 years (Program Vehicles) so took screen shots off Tech2 to put into seminar slides. Don’t forget personalization for driver #1,2,3 that you touched on. The radio, (now infotainment) but has EEPROM, so remove it, sit on bench, drive for a month, install and turned on as VIN matched during wake-up from BCM, then went to same station, same volume and save all pre-sets. I am putting most of this in a 1967 C10 Truck 5.3L Vortec w/4L60 trans. So gaining remote keyless, power windows, content theft, audible waring chimes etc. A lot of wiring but I find it relaxing. Take care and have a good time celebrating our countries birthday. I will be have lumbar fusion #4 on the 15th this July. Last one. Stay safe and never forget, GM has a global architecture and fixed the same in Kansas as Dubai. Only the fuel pump changes, Non-Robust, E-85, Robust. The last is for fuel used outside the US as it is not as refined or clean while the commutator plates are different compound for E-85 w/SS alloy piping because it’s corrosive. Take care!
Two things regarding window operation. Remote Window Operation has to be turned on in vehicle settings. Default is off. Also you stated using the lock button. It's the unlock button that activates windows.
So what do you do if you use the remote start and get into the vehicle before the time is up to move . How do you unlock the steering column and drive if you have a push button start?
Good evening hay my 2017 tahoe seys service keyless start system n my little door buttons outside the doors don't look or unlock my doors what can i do
I have a 2021 equinox LS. Remote start ready. But remote doesn’t have the half circle. What’s the sequence to start the vehicle when remote doesn’t have that button.
Thanks bull frog good video Have a question of cleaning cameras. My front camera on my 2019 silverado ltz is always blury despite cleaning. Any suggestions.
OmGMC Cadillac how cool! I had no idea that you could roll down all the windows by pressing the unlock button that is so cool. I just did it. I had no idea it did that. Thank you. Let’s see what else happens. I already knew everything else except for the 1 thing I’m trying to get it to do. I learned one new thing and that was rolling down the windows all at the same time with the key fob. Neat. Plus it was raining when I did it but thank God it wasn’t outside, OK. On the truck that’s pretty cool that it can take the back down. I’m gonna have to show my husband on his Colorado that it can do that. I don’t think he knows. That’s pretty cool. I didn’t know that it unrolled all the windows
Tried to program my gmc today same year as this one and there is so signal from the antenna to the bcm so it won’t find a key even if it’s on the cup holder
First off, I appreciate your services as a Firefighter. Second, I don't really know the answer to that question. There my be a setting in the vehicle settings that might help. Sorry I couldn't give you a better answer
I'm getting ready to purchase a very low mileage 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500, I hear all kinds of horror stories about lifter problems, etc. So I'm a little skeptic at this point. I also hear talk about auto stop, not sure what that means ?? Then I see guys installing something to make all 8 cylinders fire at idle, holy moly.. What did the Govt do to the consumer. I'm wondering if it's worth spending tons of money for over inflated vehicles to occur all these problems. Excellent Video, thank you so much..
That is a jam-packed question there JC. I can tell you that the most common issues I hear about with the 2021 Silverado are in the electrical systems, primarily the Infotainment center. Auto stop/start is a feature that is added to virtually every newer vehicle on the market. It is a fuel saving feature. Most trucks and large SUV's have the ability to disable this feature at the push of a button. All vehicles are crazy expensive right now, but I don't think that will change anytime soon or ever. The prices we see now could very well become the new norm unfortunately
@gmbullfrog1004 Great video except the special effects. LOL I have a question. I live on the Gulf Coast and brother it gets hot here. You covered on how to warm the seats up by the remote to start the truck and warm it before you go out to get into it. My question may be stupid, I do not know!!! But is there a way to cool the interior and the seats by using the remote to cool the truck down before having to get into it.???? Thank you!
My radio on my 2019 Texas Edition Silverado has lost the USB play option on the Infotainment Center. How do you reset the radio. I have already replaced the 3 blade USB fuse (26) on the right side fuse panel. The USB has power but i have nothing to play the info on the thumb drive. 11:11
I am tired of my horn honking at me when I get out of the vehicle while it’s running how do I stop it. I was told that if you press and hold the lock unlock buttons on the fob it would stop it but it didn’t and now the doors want unlock when using the door button but it will lock them I’ve tried to adjust it in settings but can’t figure it out help.
I have a 2021 Chevy 2500 LTZ. You can also raise the tailgate with the key fob by pressing it twice and holding it on the second press until the gate closes. If you let off the button at anytime the gate will lower.
Yes Scott. The more equipped trucks can have the option of an automatic tailgate that lowers and raises. The truck I used in this video only was able to go down and not back up on its own.
Hello Marvelous. There unfortunately is not. I warn people before they buy a truck with the multifunction tailgate to watch out for this. I have seen several people who have bought trucks from other dealers come back with a dent in their brand new truck bc nobody told them about the hitch
Hello Brian. There is a setting that must be turned on in your vehicle settings on your infotainment system. I am not sure why but it is turned off by default.
I am sure that there is. I would start with the fuses first since they are easy to access and replace. I never recommend anyone mess with the electrical systems in these vehicles unless they are knowledgeable in the process. These can get messy quick
While using the dash button to roll down all of my 2020 Sierra windows, a passenger pushed their window button. That window would not stay up any more. The dealer had to reprogram my window software to get that window to work properly. Is downloading software the only fix? How Will GM fix this flaw in the software? Thank you. Jim
Yikes. That question is way above my pay grade lol. I feel as if software upgrades will become more of an essential part of vehicle repairs in the future. These things are already computers on wheels and they keep getting more and more tech every year.
My 2020 silverado 2500 tailgate will not open at all. Taillights only blink and there is a clicking noise coming from drivers side fuse panel. I just changed motor/actuator and did not help...what is the issue?
Hello Donald. I am by no means a mechanic so my advice would be to take it in to one. If I had to guess, it sounds like the release mechanism for the tailgate in not engaging correctly.
Hello Roch. I am not entirely sure what you are referring to. When you connect your phone via Android auto or apple Car play then your phone's media takes priority. Otherwise you can switch through the media by selecting the sources button and choosing what media to play.
Like the video very informative, question I have a 2020 Chevy suburban, is there any way to increase the key fob range? It will barely start or unlock from 20ft away. 10:23
Thanks for the comment Mark. I don't know if anyways to increase the range other than making sure you keep good batteries in it. If you find yourself struggling with the range, a good option my be to consider OnStar. You can turn your vehicle on from virtually anywhere with that service.
I have a GMC 2020 Terrain and I would like to know where can I charge my key fob. In my old GMC Acadia I used to charge it inside the middle console in a little pocket. Do you know where in the 2020 GMC terrain?
Hello LaBella. Your Key Fob runs off of a small round battery, most likely a CR2032. This battery is a non-rechargeable battery. If there is a rechargeable battery option, I would definitely like to know. I am unsure what the little pocket is that you are speaking of but it is not meant for charging your key fob. Some vehicles do come equipped with a wireless charging pad but this is for your phone and ONLY your phone. Do not attempt to leave a keyfob on a wireless charging pad as this can result in ruining your keyfob.
Tip #1.5 don't be that guy that presses lock 50 time on his way into the grocery store please for the love of God just don't! It'll make me want to piss on your door handles 😂
Great video! I just bought a 2020 Sierra SLE. Could really use a video going over all the different buttons and controls. I learn better by watching than reading a thick, boring manual! Just a thought! Thanks, Steve T
That would be a good idea for a video to go over all the dash buttons. I have several videos covering the infotainment screen and all of its features but not the physical buttons.
Hi. I’ve done this twice now and not sure if there’s a way around it, but I’ve left my vehicle running in my driveway unlocked (not ideal I know) and then went back in my house and mistakenly left my fob behind in my house. I then left to go somewhere and shut my truck off after I arrived there. To my dismay, I was left stranded as I couldn’t start and drive it as I didn’t have the fob. Any suggestions (other than not forgetting my fob)? Thx
No there isn’t what I do is I have my fob on a carabiner clip and always connect it to my belt loop when I walk out the door I do this every time with both of my vehicles edit I also do this with my Harley because my buddy started his bike up in the garage and put the fob on his work bench and then went for a ride and when he shut it off he was screwed
Hello J Carey. You can do this yourself. It is a little tricky without the right tools but can be done by anyone. You have to first move the "hidden key" then use a small screwdriver to pry up the sides. Don't use too much force or you risk breaking the FOB. If you don't feel comfortable doing yourself, I know that most auto parts stores will do it for you.
He said push and hold the lock button to roll down all 4 windows. You have to hold down the unlock button in order to roll down the windows. And this feature has to be enabled in the vehicle settings found in the radio. And if you would like all 4 doors to unlock with only one push of the unlock button this also can be found in the "lock" settings In the radio. And you can also set the vehicle to automatically lock the doors after exiting the vehicle... this is a nice feature ...
Thank you for the comment Kelly. I tried to put a message in the video when I realized that I said "lock" instead of "unlock" button but apparently RUclips does not allow that feature anymore. Yes you can change in the settings of the vehicle to always unlock all four doors or just the driver door or you could disable the passive entry all together. You are also correct with the auto lock feature that is available in select vehicles.
I'm having trouble with downloading apps, I have the internet feature with onstar but when I touch the app icon it displays that the vehicle is not connected to the internet ... and it is! Called onstar he said he sees no problem on his end, wonder if you have seen this before? Gotta find to to run it back to the dealership.
To be honest Kelly, I don't really use the in-vehicle apps. I typically use android auto wherever I go which gives me access to all the apps without need to download them to my vehicle or pay for in-vehicle internet.
Can you tell me about remote start. DO I need to do anything once I get in the truck or just put it in gear and go? I also have the MyGMC app downloaded to my phone.
I like the fact that you can roll the windows down with the remote. BUT FOR THE LOVE OF MIKE, PLEASE ADD AUTO UP TO THE THING!!! It would make sudden rainstorms a little bit easier, if you are playing ball or walking the dog, etc.
AMEN MySickstring. If you have a button that can roll down the windows, how hard could it be to program that same button to roll the windows back up. Makes sense to me.
I think that this is a safety feature.I don't know any vehicle that will roll the windows up with the key fob. For example you're in your house and little Joey is sticking his head or arms out the window and you can't see what's going on. Must I say more!!!
Hello Joseph. It depends on the truck trim/packages that you have. As long as it has all the same buttons as the key fob in the video, it should have the same functions.
Hello Kervin. Is your vehicle remote start compatible? There should be a button on your fob if it has this feature? There is no way to remote start a vehicle that I am aware of that doesn't use the fob or OnStar.
Thanks for the comment Ncut. I had a hard time finding certain information for customers on some of the tech inside these vehicles and I had access to more information than the average person did. That is the reason I started this channel. To make a more centralized location for people to share their problems and help find solutions for those that I would never talk to otherwise.
My a/c goes on when I auto start, but it has to be extremely hot. If it's around 70°F, the heat goes on instead of the air conditioning. Is there a way to adjust the auto start settings?
Hello bull. When you auto-start your vehicle, you are not fully starting your vehicle. Your engine has to cycle air in order to blow cold air through the AC otherwise it is just going to blow the outside air into the car. If you get into your car and fully start it then this will speed up the process, but that kind of defeats the purpose of auto start. Your heat is most likely turning on bc the vehicle's auto temp is set to around 70, but that is just a guess.
Hello John. Your vehicle needs to be at least in accessory mode in order for the OnStar Wifi to work. You can put your vehicle in accessory by pushing the start button one time without putting your foot on the brake. This will activate your electronics battery and allow you to use all of your in-vehicle tech. As a safety precaution, your vehicle will shut itself off after being in standby for so long. Be cautious, since leaving your vehicle running while not in motion, will drain your battery.
Is there any way to hide a spare key fob on the truck but not have it vulnerable to anyone walking up and pushing the door button or say if it is a slide in camper in the bed?
That's a good question Kevin. The only way I can answer that question is that your key fob must be at least 3 feet away from the vehicle to not engage the door locks. You could make a copy of the "hidden key" that way you can at least unlock the vehicle without the fob.
Great question Alex. The answer is no. Your key fob has to be within arms length of the vehicle to unlock it and it has to be in the vehicle to start it. If you get in the vehicle and start it with the key fob, exit the vehicle while it is still running, and get back in the vehicle without your key fob, you can drive the Trax without a key fob.
Very carefully Henry. You have to take the "key" out first then gently pry the fob open on the seems. There is a specific tool that does this or you can use a small flat head screwdriver. I like to start at the bottom of the FOB where the "key" goes. I feel like that makes it easier.
Hello Freddie. As long as the key fob is within arms reach of the door, you should be able to open the door using the button on the handle. There are only two things that I know that could prevent this. 1) your vehicle is not equipped with keyless entry. 2) the setting has been turned off. Try looking through your vehicle settings to find out if this maybe happened to you.
@gmbullfrog1004 my 2018 GMC Acadia Denali touch screen doesn't reponse when i touch it and keeps changing to different features on its own and making a beeping sound. How can I fix that that.
Hey man, I just got a 2021 at4 and I tried your window trick and it folded my mirrors in. The reason I'm even looking is, I drove my truck home last night for the first time, and in the morning both of my front windows where down. Ant suggestions?
Hello Jackie. I am unsure on that. I know that the folding mirrors is a function on the AT4 so that is not concerning to me. Having the windows roll down randomly is a problem. Is there any chance you my have rolled the windows down when trying to remote start your vehicle?
I can't open my door with my key fob it won't unlock without pushing the button on my key fob normally you push the button on the door and it unlocks it doesn't do that anymore what's wrong
That is a difficult question to answer James. There are different incentives depending on where you live and certain equipment on the truck affects the price also. I know that most dealers are not offering discounts on new vehicles due to the shortage. Some are even asking over MSRP on trucks and high demand SUV's such as the Yukon or Tahoe. Assuming that this is a base work truck with no extra features once so ever and is 2 wheel drive. You would probably be looking at $33,000-$36,000 for the sales price of the truck alone not including any taxes or fees the dealership may charge.
Question....I'm on vacation hours away from home as I'm getting ready to leave I realize I've lost my key fob how do i... A. enter vehicle B. start vehicle and can I drive it and leave it running if I need to fuel up???
Hello UncleGreatness. There is no GM official way to add wireless Android Auto to this vehicle. There are several third party adapters that you can install to give you this functionality. The one that was referred to me was AAWireless. I have not used this personally so I cant vouch for its effectiveness.
I noticed that when I place my key fob on the wireless charger it charges could that possible be a secret feature instead of replacing the key fob battery
Hello Mark. DO NOT PLACE YOUR FOB ON THE WIRLESS CHARGER! Having any type of metallic object in the wireless charging area could ruin the charger, could ruin the object, or it could start a fire. Granted it is unlikely to start a fire, but it is a possibility.
Hello Tina. I might be able to do that but I would have to talk to one of the mechanics to allow me to film them. Thank you for the suggestion none the less.
That's a manufacturer recall. Take vehicle back to dealership service department. Send a complaint to GMC via Facebook. If possible take pictures and send while talk GMC rep on F/B. Make a contact and keep in touch with that individual so they can remember you and you don't have to keep repeating your issue
Yes sir. I mispoke in the video. You need to hold the UNLOCK button to get the windows to roll down. I tried to add a comment in that part of the video but i couldn't get it to stay.
Good stuff. How come on my 2020 Silverardo I can start the truck with the key fob then leave the key fob on my work bench in garage and drive 20 miles and then I'm srewed? I thought if the vehicle got a certain distance from the fob it shut down?
Hello Gary I think I can answer your question. The remote fobs must be in the vehicle to fully start the vehicle and the vehicle will alert you if it is running and the key fob leaves the vehicle. However, if you start your vehicle then leave it and come back without your keyfob, the vehicle will run until you shut it off. There is no distance disabling feature to my knowledge.
I've misplaced my #1 FOB recently after buying my new 2021 High Country Silverado 1500. Can I buy a "Locator" device to search my house? Thank goodness I still have my #2 FOB! But I am scared I'll misplace that one too!!!
Hello Jerry. There isn't a GM official keyfob locator. However, here is a link to a locator device that you can attach to your keyfob. www.thetileapp.com/en-us/store/pdp/onyx-jazz-pro?defaultproduct=pro-1-pack-2019-launch-onyx-jazz-grad-2021&adgroup=120498225341&gclsrc=aw.ds&gclid=Cj0KCQjw5auGBhDEARIsAFyNm9H_QWTS7VzI7S5MO9NZXOZEtYNr56xJRAIEP6UmDHTRhr1rpb3qPawaAhMhEALw_wcB
Jerry Or what you can do is return to the dealership. Talk to the sales manager and purchase an extended warranty. That warranty will cover: keyfob replacement, wheels, tires, windshield. It varies from dealership to dealership
Gm bullfrog I know this is not related to the key fob but it is good to know, while filling up your air in your tires if your car is started and you reach them maximum amount of air pressure in your tire.
Take care!
You sir are a wealth of knowledge.
Oh man, I truly thank you for the video. It was extremely helpful and easy to follow.
Thank you so much for watching Miguel. Glad you liked it
Thanks for your video! - How do you protect your fob from being copied by bad people! - I've read some fobs have "sleeping" modes.
So freakn awesome…don’t stop keep these videos coming! Maybe trailering tricks next!!
Great video 😅 I learned some thing new after owning my 2020 for 3 years-!!
Thanks for info I just bough my 2022 silverado LTD crew cab 4x4 , love it so far ..
Glad to hear John. The 2022 Silverado's are beautiful and capable vehicles.
Two things regarding window operation. Remote Window Operation has to be turned on in vehicle settings. Default is off. Also you stated using the lock button. It's the unlock button that activates windows.
You are correct cansno. I put a pop up on the video that corrected my statement bc I realized I said the wrong thing after my video was posted
So what do you do if you use the remote start and get into the vehicle before the time is up to move . How do you unlock the steering column and drive if you have a push button start?
Can you make a video on how to mirror your phone to a 2020 chevy silverado?
Good evening hay my 2017 tahoe seys service keyless start system n my little door buttons outside the doors don't look or unlock my doors what can i do
I have a 2021 equinox LS. Remote start ready. But remote doesn’t have the half circle. What’s the sequence to start the vehicle when remote doesn’t have that button.
Thanks bull frog good video
Have a question of cleaning cameras. My front camera on my 2019 silverado ltz is always blury despite cleaning. Any suggestions.
I lost my key fob on a 2019 Sierra denali. Can I program a new one? My truck doesn't have a transmitter slot.
Great tips. Say how but featuring a video on the 2022 Chevy Silverado? Thanks for your humor, definitely made me chukle outloud.
Appreciate the comment cfus. I will see what I can do in regards to the 22's
The key info was appreciated. :). I had no idea.
You are most welcome. Thank you for watching
Very informative and Very Entertaining! Thank you
Thank you Michael. I am glad you enjoyed it
OmGMC Cadillac how cool!
Glad you were able to learn something from the video Jennifer. Thank you for watching.
Tried to program my gmc today same year as this one and there is so signal from the antenna to the bcm so it won’t find a key even if it’s on the cup holder
Hello,Do you know how to reset the "Service Theft Deterrent System" on a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Duramax with start button?
I didn’t know about the window trick. Thanks!
You are most welcome Dave. There are a few things in the vid that the average person doesn't know and nobody ever takes the time to show it.
I would you to cover how we can mirror watching on GMC sierra please.
How do I turn off the extended running feature. I am a firefighter and having the vehicle running at an emergency scene is essential. Can it be done?
@gmbullfrog1004
Great video except the special effects. LOL
I have a question.
Thank you!
How do I reset keyfob after battery replacement? Still getting warning that battery needs replacing. Yukon 2020 SLT
Amigo como puedo desactivar el paro automático, es decir, que no tenga que desactivarlo cada vez que enciendo la troca? Gracias
Really appreciated your video 😊
I have a 2021 Chevy 2500 LTZ. You can also raise the tailgate with the key fob by pressing it twice and holding it on the second press until the gate closes. If you let off the button at anytime the gate will lower.
Yes Scott. The more equipped trucks can have the option of an automatic tailgate that lowers and raises. The truck I used in this video only was able to go down and not back up on its own.
Helpful video. Is there a way to prevent the tailgate from hitting the hitch when using it as a step
Hello Marvelous. There unfortunately is not. I warn people before they buy a truck with the multifunction tailgate to watch out for this. I have seen several people who have bought trucks from other dealers come back with a dent in their brand new truck bc nobody told them about the hitch
I have a 2021 gmc 2500 Denali durmax the windows will not roll down I am doing the steps you showed me what can be the problem.
Hello Brian. There is a setting that must be turned on in your vehicle settings on your infotainment system. I am not sure why but it is turned off by default.
On my 2020 silverado high country the windows will not go up or down nor will the driver seat work, is there a module or relay for those things?
I have a AT4 2024 and the button on the door will not unlock when I touch it ??
?s for you. I have a 2020 SLE ....when you do the remote start ...how do i get my headlight to flash like that.
In your infotainment system there is a setting under remote start where you can change if the lights flash or not.
Thank you, your video helped me a lot.
Great video amigo 🎉
Thank you Ryan. I had a lot of fun making this one.
Hi Bullfrog, how do I prevent the music to turn on when I start my GMC truck? The music is ussually from my Iphone.
Very good tips
Amazing gm did something Honda was doing in early 2000’s roll windows down with remote lol.
Lol Michael. I never said it was new technology. It is just something that many people don't know their vehicle can do.
@@gmbullfrog1004 don’t worry big guy wasn’t taking shots at you, more so at GM, love the memes
Tip #1.5 don't be that guy that presses lock 50 time on his way into the grocery store please for the love of God just don't! It'll make me want to piss on your door handles 😂
😂🤣
This is very helpful. I am getting ready to purchase a 2021 Sierra Elevation.
Thanks Greg. The elevation is a great looking addition to the GMC Sierra.
Good idea, thx!
Thanks for the information you provided
Lolol maze spray on the old man😂 Nice Video!
That clip made me almost poop my pants I was laughing so hard.
Like the video
What about the tail gate if the key fob go dead
Hello Roger. The only other way to lower the tailgate is with a button inside the vehicle once the truck has been started.
If the key fob battery dies, can I replace the battery or does a dealer have to do that?
Hello J Carey. You can do this yourself. It is a little tricky without the right tools but can be done by anyone. You have to first move the "hidden key" then use a small screwdriver to pry up the sides. Don't use too much force or you risk breaking the FOB.
If you don't feel comfortable doing yourself, I know that most auto parts stores will do it for you.
Nice did not know the window trick or the start , when the battery on the key is out.
Glad you learned something from it. Thanks for watching
Disregard- Just saw my question answered in a previous comment.
Glad you were able to find an answer to your question. Enjoy your new Sierra!!!
Awesome video, thanks for sharing these secrets 😁
HAHA. Thank you Amil. I had a lot of fun making this video. I am glad that you liked it
E22wwww22
I have a 2021 GMC Canyon. Dp the key fons work the same?
Hello Joseph. It depends on the truck trim/packages that you have. As long as it has all the same buttons as the key fob in the video, it should have the same functions.
Great Review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Can the tailgate be locked?
Hey dude, Is there a way to remote start my 2020 acadia if button is not on the key fob ,other than onstar?
Hello Kervin. Is your vehicle remote start compatible? There should be a button on your fob if it has this feature? There is no way to remote start a vehicle that I am aware of that doesn't use the fob or OnStar.
@@gmbullfrog1004 it's equipped, I was using onstar app but too many glitches and tied of paying for it.. It's not on my key fob.
It would be a good idea for gmc to do or recommend a video channel as I think most of us lean by doing other than by reading 📚 thks good content 👍
Thanks for the comment Ncut. I had a hard time finding certain information for customers on some of the tech inside these vehicles and I had access to more information than the average person did. That is the reason I started this channel. To make a more centralized location for people to share their problems and help find solutions for those that I would never talk to otherwise.
Great job
Thank you Darrell. I appreciate the feedback
Mine -2021 AT4- won’t roll down the windows- it folds in the mirrors. I want the window feature- it’s hot in Dallas in the summer!
Hello Thomas. you have to turn it on in your vehicles settings before you can do that with the key fob. I should have explained it in the video.
With the keyless ignition, how do I keep the onstar hotspot working?
Is it possible to start and drive 2020 Chevy trax without the key fob
Great question Alex. The answer is no. Your key fob has to be within arms length of the vehicle to unlock it and it has to be in the vehicle to start it. If you get in the vehicle and start it with the key fob, exit the vehicle while it is still running, and get back in the vehicle without your key fob, you can drive the Trax without a key fob.
Thanks Great Video!!
Didn’t know the last one to start the truck with fog’s battery is dead. How you open the fog to change the battery?
Very carefully Henry. You have to take the "key" out first then gently pry the fob open on the seems. There is a specific tool that does this or you can use a small flat head screwdriver. I like to start at the bottom of the FOB where the "key" goes. I feel like that makes it easier.
I have 2 key fobs for my truck and I tried opening my door by walking up to it with the key fob and the door handle wouldn’t open, why is that?
Hello Freddie. As long as the key fob is within arms reach of the door, you should be able to open the door using the button on the handle. There are only two things that I know that could prevent this. 1) your vehicle is not equipped with keyless entry. 2) the setting has been turned off. Try looking through your vehicle settings to find out if this maybe happened to you.
Lols this video was helpful and hilarious 😂

Holding lock button will fold mirrors. Holding unlock will roll windows down.
Loved your commercial hysterical
Thanks Sam. I know that it was super cheesy but I really appreciate the feedback none the less.
I can't open my door with my key fob it won't unlock without pushing the button on my key fob normally you push the button on the door and it unlocks it doesn't do that anymore what's wrong
Started my 2021 Yukon Denali left a key fob inside the car went outside for a moment And it’s self locked me out what to do
On the menu button you can set up the car to beep whenever you leave the fob inside your car.
How much should I pay for a base 21 gmc sierra 1500 5.3 l v8 long box?
A. enter vehicle
B. start vehicle
and can I drive it and leave it running if I need to fuel up???
Unfortunately Michael, you cannot start the ignition without the key fob. It is the same as if you lost a physical key.
Do you have the my chevy app on your phone? You could also call onstar.
@@MrPAULONEAL ok thx for the info I do have that
Thank you sir!
Nice video thanks! New subscription. Got a 2020 GMC Acadia SLT, any way to upgrade to Wireless Android Auto? 3rd party ect?? Thanks
Hello UncleGreatness. There is no GM official way to add wireless Android Auto to this vehicle. There are several third party adapters that you can install to give you this functionality. The one that was referred to me was AAWireless. I have not used this personally so I cant vouch for its effectiveness.
Great video! Now I've got an excuse to replace the sound system in my truck due to your poorly balanced gag sequences
Really miss GM Bullfrog... Crazy he fell off like this.... Rumor has it he is out running bank heists now... crazy
I found out if you push the lock button twice and hold it the mirrors will fold in
This is true for certain vehicles. Which is nice when trying to take your Silverado through a tight bank drive thru
Can you do a video on how to troubleshoot when your dashboard keeps going out on a 2021 Arcadia Denali?
Wait! I knew about the remote start, but I was told I had to hit the lock button twice so it honks , thank you, now it does t honk!
That's good to hear dinsmore. I always press mine twice and make it honk out of habit lol
If I press and hold the lock button, it will open/close the side view mirrors, and If I press the hatchback button 2x it will open/close the hatch.
Yes sir. I mispoke in the video. You need to hold the UNLOCK button to get the windows to roll down. I tried to add a comment in that part of the video but i couldn't get it to stay.
This was DopeNess 💯 Thankx a lot‼️
Glad you liked the video Ryan. Thank you for watching
It's because you don't want your vehicle shutting down in the middle of the freeway or busy intersection.
Very entertaining. Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
You forgot one other feature. When you push and hold the lock bottom it will lock the doors and fold in the mirrors.
Hello Thomas. I should have mentioned that in the video but the truck I was using didn't have that capability so I skipped it.
Good job
Thank you Raphael
I've misplaced my #1 FOB recently after buying my new 2021 High Country Silverado 1500. Can I buy a "Locator" device to search my house? Thank goodness I still have my #2 FOB! But I am scared I'll misplace that one too!!!
Hello Jerry. There isn't a GM official keyfob locator. However, here is a link to a locator device that you can attach to your keyfob.

Or what you can do is return to the dealership. Talk to the sales manager and purchase an extended warranty. That warranty will cover: keyfob replacement, wheels, tires, windshield. It varies from dealership to dealership
