Thanks for being so positive in the comments! Things are crazy busy right now. Lots of exciting and equally overwhelming things happening and it's always comforting to read you all being so supportive in the comments :)
What books do you have? (That are your favorites) the lens was out of focus so I couldn't read a lot of them!
Matt D'Avella what city do you currently live in?
Also love your vids!!!
Nunchun He lives in LA :)
Thanks for the quality and inspiring content Matt! Got me started on my own RUclips channel :D
Hii matt, Love from India.,
I love your T-shirt... Can u send me a link ...Plz ...

I thought the same thing 😢
Elijah Orr indeed!
*fist bump*
Oh jeez I feel accepted now haha
Someone: Is your room flood-proof? What if a water pipe breaks in your home?
Matt: (thinks) no no no no no, don't think about that, I don't wanna re-organize everything, wait, maybe I can just make my room waterproof...
"It gives me something to lean on since I'm so unstable".
What a mood.
I laughed so hard at that
This is so wildly satisfying, my god.

His charging station is the most satisfying thing I’ve ever seen
When you see the “simplicity” poster you designed for Matt in the video 😆😏🙏🏾
It looks really unique and pretty 😁

Aastha H thank you 😊
Matthew Hyatt thanks so much !😄
I was wondering where he got that. It’s beautiful

I’m still caught off guard every time Matt says “wife”
Oh you think he’s gay right ?
Yuriy Maximov I’m assuming not, since his channel has been popular he’s been referring to Natalie as his girlfriend. The recent wedding is the change that our brains keep lagging about.
ME TOO.
Paige Wesolowski yeah that proactive interference can be a pain
Wow, I didn't even notice it 😊
I don't understand how this man makes me pause everything I do and watch his videos instantly after he posts. I really mean instantly. Hope you're proud, Matt!
i'm sure he's not especially proud of that because you almost mean nothing to him, what have you done differently than an animal ? eating, pooping, sleeping...

DUDE! This video was everything for me. I literally just moved into my own place to do everything you just mentioned. And seeing your video makes me super excited/anxious to hurry up and see what I turn my space into.
Why am I watching a film maker organize his workspace at 3 am when I’m having an exam tomorrow.
Eliminating distractions is something that every person can struggle with when it comes to working. Thanks for the tips Matt!
I feel like i'm slowly becoming a minimalist without making a decision about it. As we get older, we understand more and more, how little we need.
word.
old cat ladies disagree
Yep
Its so satisfying how round everything looks.
Oh my goodness, seeing this was so soothing. I really like how organized it is, and yes, I did hear you on some of the bits where it's not as organized. I am currently dealing with my stuff since one of my relationships got to an end. This move helps me declutter even more stuff. I enjoy the process so far. Less stuff, more clarity. I lack storage, but at least I force myself to be creative and decisive.
2 choices before becoming a minimalist
- Own a lot of things and become owned by them
- Discard a lot of things and own your time
*At the end, something gets owned.*
Nice fight club mindset there

The peg board is genius! Every item in the room had a "home" - I love that!
Internet: Let me travel the world and make epic content about how awesome my life is...
Matt: how about I chill at home and make some videos that will bring actual value to people and will still get tons of views?🤷🏼♂️
That's so true! :)
yesss! and that's why i love matt's videos 🙌🏼
Pilot Vlogs a lot changes over four years ....
the switch to your jersey accent had me in stitches.
I love the space you've created, the light acts as an art piece in the room. The closet is well thought out and items are easily accessible and could also act as a "decor" item given you're a filmmaker. I love the wall color and overall fill of the room, clean and warm.
I actually just watched the whole ad before your video because it was so interesting...
There is no ad
I think it's time to clear my desk.
It's interesting how those videos influence my life so much.
Every time you call Natalie your wife I smile and feel my heart lift, I’m so happy for you two!
Matt, you’re awesome! I love tour videos and I’ve been following you since before all of this! It’s been fantastic to see your growth both as a person and filmmaker. As long as you keep doing this, I’ll keep watching. Happy holidays.
The level of organisation in that closet makes my soul happy! 😍
Definitely don’t let those old drives go. I’ve made that mistake
Could you explain it a little bit further? I'm currently thinking about just deleting my older HDD because I just store junk in it, but I also have a lot of backup from the past which I'm not sure is really important or not.
Rainy I hear ya on this one. I was struggling with this myself for the longest time. I deleted old video content I had of about a couple years ago. Thinking I already have the main ones on RUclips. There’s no reason for me to keep these old broll/video footage. Until I had an idea of doing a video to see/show how far I’ve come since I began. Then come to realize I deleted all my old footage INCLUDING deleting my very first video(final version) I ever made for RUclips! I just never posted that one up to RUclips because I was too nervous and thought it wasn’t “perfect”.
Rainy I’ve come to realize. ILL NEVER DELETE OLD FOOTAGE AGAIN! no matter what! I’d like to think some day when I’m old and grey. My kids or their kids can look back at these old hard drives and maybe put something together for themselves to show.. look at dad. What he started. What he created back in 2017. And see the journey.
@@raulgolfs Hey, that is really nice! You motivated me to actually keep and sort it out :) thank you!
Rainy haha absolutely! I think it’s a smart idea. I get not everyone cares about it but I think about what the future may look like.

OMG! I loved everything, especially the closet organization. I just love Matt!!!
I liked this video a lot, minimalism is about what is important for the individual, your work is important, filmmaking is your passion and how you talked about the charging station and laying everything out shows even YOU have something you have lot off. Thanks for the vids Matt, I have been throwing stuff away from my house and returning everything I buy way more often since I found your channel.
Just cleared my desk last night. It's already been life changing.

It's so satisfying to watch your videos Matt keep up the great work!!!
Hello there! I recently found your channel and I've gotten hooked. I'm in my senior year of college and I have been letting a lot of things go to the wayside due to a general depression that has fallen over my life. These videos have inspired me. I'm paying attention to my surroundings and building my spaces to promote positivity where as before I had essentially been living in a constant ever-evolving mess. I'm working out again. I'm finishing projects early or on time. I'm not thinking about being unhappy anymore. Thanks so much!
10:06 "kaizen", the Japanese word for continuous improvement.
إحسان in Arabic
Nour el houda GABOUR In spanish.. I have no idea🤣
I’ve only heard this word twice in my life. Both happened this week! Thanks for the reminder.
Kaizen is a common term in Japanese company.
Also 'kanban' which is like a scheduling system used along with kaizen
I'm gonna binge watch Matt's videos when I move out
Beautiful space that made me re think how my home office should like... minimalist and functional... I love your videos
This was very helpful. Thank you!

its funny how your videos influence me so much, I literally just cleared my desk...also i clicked so fast to this video idek why
In the past I hated seeing your videos appear anywhere on RUclips because I know how much I would like to be as organized and minimalistic as you. This was finally the first video I could fully enjoy because I started putting in the effort to be much more organized than before. Thanks for being a positive influence on me, Matt. :D
What a perfect, plain, straightforward, subdued video. Thoughtful and easy. Loved it!
You are such a good youtuber, I cant even express it in words
You have enabled me to creste my own yt channel about routines akd using them to get what you want. Thank you!
Nice setup! I agree with having your gear serve as decor also! I’m going to do this in my creative space!
Thanks for sharing and making this video. I always find other people’s workspaces interesting. Especially when they explain why they chose what they did. It inspires me and gives me cool ideas for my own workspace.
You’re truly nailing the MINIMALIST / VIDEOMAKER sweet spot
“I never get confused and I easily get confused” relatable Matt.
Thanks for all the inspiration that you provide to us, such a help even when someone is not a minimalist.
This is the best video I've seen where it feels so candid ❤
‘Continuingly’
damn i felt that cos i make up words like this too
Gonna be honest, I'm glad I'm not the only one who desires a dedicated charging area. My favorite part of the video was the closet.
I've been scanning, digitizing, shredding and recycling every piece of paper like receipts, bills etc for the last 15 years and it has saved so much space, time and mental capacity. Cables and adapters are my next mission, but I've been experimenting with embedding as much as possible in the walls which is really clean but needs a lot of forethought. Thanks for the video Matt, always enjoyable!
Matt, I sure love your videos. It is nice to get different perspectives on things in life. I love the videos.
He should contact Linus about his drive situation
That would be interesting. a server with minimalistic aesthetic
@@henriquem3111 I agree, that would be very interesting to watch.
Underrated comment out here
Dealing with a server is a bunch of crap. A unlimited cloud storage plan is good enough. By the time the cost savings kick in from having your own server it will probably break or you’ll run out of storage.
Man, imagine how would be D'Avella interior design for the server.
Like, An empty desk in front of a window with this metal case server all painted white and no wires

YES decorate with what you love to do! It's a great way to show off your interests and to decorate your space.
Your video gear closet is exactly how I want mine to look like. It soothes my OCD heart 😜. After so many years, I have my own studio space and this video has given me so many ideas on organizing it. Thanks Matt. This was very helpful.

"Just Keep Trying To Do Better" 👍
I feel very validated watching this. As a freelance editor, as an easily distracted person, as a person who finds an excuse to be distracted/procrastinate- this is exactly what I’ve always wanted, namely my own space. Now I have something to work for. Thanks Matt! Keep doing videos that spur me towards greatness! 🥳🥳

"Matt D'Avella - EXPOSED"
Thank you Matt. With the pandemic I have to work and study from home. Though I’m not a film maker this gave great ideas.
I've just watched four of your videos in the past hour, they are all fully filled with positive thoughts and ideas, well done already and just keep trying to do better!
How would you apply some of these things to a student living with their parents? I don't have entire rooms for work?
It took me until I was 31 years old to finally have a space by myself to work. Be patient. Work with what you've got!
Try to separate your room in half. Don’t mix work stuff with personal stuff. Keep the colors different so when you’re looking at the area in front of you it feels different. Also, keep the lights different. The bedroom lights should be yellow soft and the work area needs cold bright white lights.
Dont work in your bedroom because your brain will think you are going to bed to work
