  • Today I’m using the Jang seeder again to get one of our most profitable crops planted….Carrots. Nothing compares to fresh early season carrots, and we need to be prepared with plenty for opening of market season.

Nice video. I am working on figuring out how to grow the best carrots that I can. I’ve only grown 1 bed of carrots so far but I’m very excited to work at mastering growing carrots to the best of my ability!

They can test your nerves no doubt, but if you get past the germination part, just keep the weeds out and use a fertilizer higher in potassium and phosphorus than nitrogen and you should do ok, good luck.

What has worked out very well for me is to do a stale seed bed technique. Work the soil however you do, for me that's broad forking because I've got clay soil, then add compost or other amendments if you so choose, water it, then tarp it without seeding. Leave it tarped for 3 weeks, pull the tarp off, DON'T work the soil at all, would just defeat the purpose by bringing new weed seeds to the surface, seed the carrots and water daily until emergence. Doing it that way gives me excellent germination and I don't have to weed the carrots even once most secessions. Good luck friend.
