I’m in Florida my garden is in pots and raisebeds I don’t talk much but I love your channel teaching me a lot and I’m thankful that I can buy seeds from you 😮
Lol. How many times is that rooster going to crow? I am cracking up laughing. I think they know when Mike us doing a video. Lol Thanks for sharing. Love your channel.
i sprinkle mine too and never thin. my carrots are usually not small because of it. so it will be good dont work yourself too hard i know we all out here grinding in the garden
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 i think i had maybe 1 or 2 that kind of intertwined with each other but it just didnt look the best, the taste was still great. most of them just grew right next to each other, i didnt have any issues. usually i sow every carrot seed i have so i'm heavy handed too. i showed in a video how the carrots i have now i didnt thin. the germination is usually so spotty with carrots that the ones that didnt germinate kind of make room for the ones that do.
That is good ole red clay from Georgia. Glad you know how to enrich the soil. It takes a knowledgeable person to work a piece of land made of red clay. I have a little in my garden. I did what you did to enrich it. I found that beets did well in clay soil. I planted some beets in same this year. Will see what happens.
So excited to see what our carrots and beets do this year! That Georgia red clay is no joke but we make it work to the best that we can! Keep us updated on you beets this year
We love lots and lots of clay here in SW Virginia too. Its crazy but Humble Servants has helped me gain knowledge and now I have a 15x30 garden. Hopefully next year I can turn the whole yard into a garden. Less to mow, more to eat lol
I heard you...seeds too small to be measuring and planting, lol. Also I loved the way you drafted your wife to help :). Love ya'll and may you enjoy Peace and Health. I had an Arab friend tell me that the most important prayer is to pray for Peace, Health and Security. These are the most important things for the individual but also for Humanity.
I have sowed carrots seed this winter seed in zone 9B so two sprouts germinated. I wish ya'll and family blessings harvest and Merry Christmas ad a prosper New Year 2024
Wow! I love gardening. Done it all my life. i need to be you guys neighbor! Great carrot vid. I have a question. I love the way your garden is set up. With the lower walking paths and the higher planting area. When you initially set it up. Did you plow it all up first, then dig out the walking paths, throwing that dirt up onto the planting area? Then just continue to build the mounds? (I am “assuming it is not plowed every year.) it’s just awesome.
We did plow the while area first because we add goat and chicken manure to the whole entire bed. From there we marmot the rows and walk paths. We have no till area to the left of this garden bed where the main walk path divides so we will not till that walk path this year. Every other part will be tilled again.
listen one thing that i know reduces your daily work load is using card BOARD on the walking areas that is the most efficient and cost effective because the cardboard is free from the grosser
I been doing all the steps you have done. But my carrots still come out short and small. I only got one good size carrot this year. I read they like sand should I try add little to my garden bed?
Good evening first off I would like to let you know that I've subscribed to your channel I'm from Northern Ontario Canada. Question why is your earth have a crust yet its workable underneath. This is the first of your videos that I've watched. Now I'm going to check out your other garden videos.
We have Georgia red clay as dirt where we live. By itself, it is very dense and heavy almost like cement.. We have amending and enriched it over the past few growing season that we have been here to lighten it up a bit.
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 That's crazy, lots of work in getting the ground ready for planting. I'm enjoying your other videos, sorry to see your corn blown down like that. Micro storms and insects can sure give a garden lots of problems. I think I'm losing all my garlic to the Leek Moth, nothing seems to get rid of it. Have yourself a blessed day.
We cover with cardboard or newspaper to help the soil retain the moisture needed for the seeds to germinate. Once they start to germinate we remove the cardboard.
It's not a good idea to transplant carrots or any root veggie. Disturbing them once growing has started causes deformity IF they take hold of their new environment.

These rooster are so disrespectful. They do not behave around company, lol. Thanks for watching!
I'm planting carrots today! Thank you for the help, brother❤.
This is excellent. I just planted carrots in my homestead in Kenya.
I used a bit of slow release fertiliser and woodash from the kitchen.
You have a great channel keep it up

Do you ever have any issues with them growing/ merging together? We got a little heavy handed on the sprinkling this time lol

A little dirt certainly doesn't hurt. Things are looking terrific.
Love those garden rolls ❤😊

Hi, am new in this, but I must am really grateful for this video, the explanations step by step its good for a learner to pull through, thanks
So glad you found this info helpful! May you have a bountiful harvest this season!
Beautiful video. God bless you
What’s up brother
Clay Soil looks similar to the soil in Jamrock
Nice soil mixture
Great job bro

Lotta work family!! Lol
Yes it is but rewarding in the end when you can harvest fresh produce
Looking good!! Awesome love your row
Thanks Mary! Now we just have to fill those rows 😅
Man, your space look like a typical Jamaican backyard.
APttmha. Shalawam Ahch! Thawadda for this video. This will help us out next year when we plan to plant baby carrots. 👊
Good work😂😊

I planted my carrots about 4-5 days ago and just sprinkled and kept it moving
Shalawam family and get some rest my brother! 🤗❤
Now you know your brother doesn't know what rest means😅
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 I know Sis, but just thought I'd drop that in there! 😁

You can certainly try that! Also it could be the variety that you are planting or time of year so keep those things in mind as well.
how do you control the weeds in the carrot bed
We hand pick them before they get big😅

Super
It's taking how long to be ready
It depends on the variety of carrots you plant
Very nice ! Where did you buy the Ollie stout compost from? That sounds like a great blend. They didn’t have a locator on their website
Hey Britt! You can find it at Smith's Farm Store in our local area for about $10 a bag! Well worth it
That method of planting is counter productive. Place the seeds in a bottle and bore holes in the top and sprinkle lightly
Hello. Also what month do you plant your carrots and beets?
what's the reason for covering the soil with the cardboard
We cover with cardboard or newspaper to help the soil retain the moisture needed for the seeds to germinate. Once they start to germinate we remove the cardboard.
@@humbleservantshomestead7974 am going to try it
You need to mix the soil with some ghaut sand to lighten the soil.
Where's you harvesting video of this carrots can you show us😅?
How long to have them cover.
Just until they begin to sprout up. It took a few days
Is it possible to transplant carrot?
It's not a good idea to transplant carrots or any root veggie. Disturbing them once growing has started causes deformity IF they take hold of their new environment.
How large is your homestead?
