for anyone wondering, 70% alcohol is better to use than 100% alcohol. it actually cleans better. i cant remember exactly why, but we use 70% at work in the hospital because it cleans better :)
+heyysimone It's because 70% kills the bacteria, 90% or above evaporates too fast so it doesn't have the chance to actually kill the bacteria. The water is used to delay the evaporation. ^^
Dalton Parenteau You would have to dilute it with pure and clean water if you did. Otherwise, you’re adding germs back into it. Look into what biotech facilities use for water.
To answer your question further, it’s because 70% alcohol actually lyses the cell wall: it’s the perfect balance between drying enough and being wet. 90% is too dry and only dehydrates the cell, allowing it to survive when re-hydrated. Basically, 70% disrupts homeostasis for bacteria, but does little damage to our skin. Hope that helps explain in simplified terms!
I hope this doesn't make me sound gross, but I never thought to clean my actual makeup. I do the brushes and stuff, but never the actual makeup!? BUT GUESS WHO IS NOW 😊
Crackaveli D. You should atleast twice a year get a spray bottle spray your powders even cream makeup with alcohol let it sit for about 30 mins and your set
I don't know if it has already been mentioned.....but after sanitizing the product, also wipe down the entire case, any hinges or clasps etc. Get all the germs :)
it makes me so excited to see how much your channel has grown. I remember when you had 100 then 1k and now 200k. Your hard work has payed off girl :) x
oh man i just bought some liquid lipsticks on mercari and the seller said they were just swatched and i wasnt sure if it was on the hand or lip so i looked through youtube to try and see if i could clean them. Thank you for the video! Im sad I cant clean it all the way through like a bullet lip but at least that is something! germs are okay lol
Thank you. I did my sister in laws makeup for her funeral recently and I didn't want to throw away her makeup since it was so expensive and barely used at all since she bought it while she was sick and couldn't do her makeup often.
Marissa Lalchan If I can’t properly clean the inside of mine (q-tip), I then immerse it in alcohol. Leaving it to dry is a very important step, as it allows the alcohol to lyse the cells.
As a licensed aesthetician please don't ever buy gently used, por used at all makeup. It's never sanitary and the are no ways to truly sanitize the makeup without ruining it.
this video is sooo helpful! Also I just wanted to mention how I love how clear your videos are 😍 if you don't mind me asking which camera do you use? :)
you got me addicted to Depop! these are really good tips! I looked up online how to sanitize lipsticks and they mentioned you can cut off the top with a knife on an angle, it makes them look kinda new IMO (but don't try to pass them off like they're new of course lol)
for liquid lipstick, what about the stuff left in the tube? wouldn't there be bacteria or viruses left in the stuff that's in the tube despite you cleaning the applicator?
I just bought a too faced cream bronzer at tjmaxx and I was so mad because someone swatched it. it was touched but It was $19 less than normal, and I figured it was worth it. I wanted to figure out a way to sanitize it though since flu season is here and all. :)
I let some girls use my makeup at a friends house cause they promised to be careful then I went back to check and they completely destroyed my makeup. Like destroyed dug it all up smeared eyeshadow and concealer on packaging split my brushes and put dark colors on white brushes, they hit pan on my favorite highlighter, and I went home pissed and was cleaning it all thanks for the help and I had to scrub thick like paste off of a literally brand new ( this morning) kabuki brush. So disrespectful and only one of the three is sorry and willing to pay. If you lend someone your property they’re supposed to respect it and take care of it I paid for almost all of it
My sister used my eyeliner on her waterline with no permission and now I need to clean it cuz you don’t know water crust is in there 🙄 def making her buy me a new one
For the mascara put the alcohol in the bottle and shake it, the alcohol will dry it out a little bit but all you need to do is add eye drops to remoisturize it
Hey Tasha! I just started youtube, quick question where do you purchase your close up backgrounds or product shot backgrounds? Im still figuring out how to film things like that! >3< haha great video! I also sometimes put the alcohol in a spray bottle and spay my products from time to time! ^^
This may be stupid question but won't it sting your eyes if you put it on your eyeliners and mascara wand? Definitely doing this for my eyeshadows! Thanks!!
I want to ask, I have already clean my makeup, but when it came to the eyeshadow and highlighter the formula is kind of harden. Its too faced sweet peach and becca pressed highlighter in opal. It makes the pigmentation a little bit hard to get. I dont know. Is it normal? Does anyone experience the same thing?
My hair is currently pastel pink, I used directions carnation pink. After I run out of the directions dye, I was thinking of using arctic fox. I know you used this dye before, and was wondering if you would recommend it! My hair is a really light blonde naturally, so could I get it all the way out without using bleach? Thank you! 💖💖
+vintage.dollies I haven't used anything other than Arctic Fox for a while now! It's the best on the market, I believe! I have a discount code in the description of this video too girly!
I don't see how this will work. Unless you gas the whole thing or use an UV light, I don't see how you would guarantee that the complete product is disinfected. This only makes you (mentally) feel better about sharing used products.
My mom bought lipgloss used before and cleaned it but also put it in the freezer for a day. I think because when it freezes it kills the germs but not 100% sure.
HAHAHAHAHA OMF IM SORRY, I CAME BECAUSE I BOUGHT A BUNCH OF MAKE UP ON DEPOP AND NEEDED TO KNOW A WAY TO SANITIZE AND CLEAN IT. HAHA THAGS SO FUNNY. (But yeah relatable sorry about the caps, I thought it was funny)

Takes 2-5 mins to disinfect :) sterile processing ?
you can use a spray bottle with alcohol for the powder products
Why not
I hope this doesn't make me sound gross, but I never thought to clean my actual makeup. I do the brushes and stuff, but never the actual makeup!? BUT GUESS WHO IS NOW 😊
Crackaveli D. You should atleast twice a year get a spray bottle spray your powders even cream makeup with alcohol let it sit for about 30 mins and your set
Very useful video... but I'd NEVER buy a "gently used" product... not even an "opened" product b/c people are liars!
I don't know if it has already been mentioned.....but after sanitizing the product, also wipe down the entire case, any hinges or clasps etc. Get all the germs :)
Great video! Kudos
Yes this is why I rarely buy cardboard pallets. I like to scrub them down once in a while.
I’d honestly want to uv sanitize it. . .even then, I probably wouldn’t feel safe with used products 🤢
it makes me so excited to see how much your channel has grown. I remember when you had 100 then 1k and now 200k. Your hard work has payed off girl :) x
Brianna Anette and now almost 500k
oh man i just bought some liquid lipsticks on mercari and the seller said they were just swatched and i wasnt sure if it was on the hand or lip so i looked through youtube to try and see if i could clean them. Thank you for the video! Im sad I cant clean it all the way through like a bullet lip but at least that is something! germs are okay lol
sanitizing is such a big thing right now, but true makeup artists have always been aware of hygiene for safety reasons :)
Thank you. I did my sister in laws makeup for her funeral recently and I didn't want to throw away her makeup since it was so expensive and barely used at all since she bought it while she was sick and couldn't do her makeup often.
What about the inside of the sharpener?

Do so
Warm Soapy water then clean w/ alcohol
What is that sweater!? I feel like I need it.
Much needed video, thank you !!! ❤️
Can you make a vid including how to clean makeup brushes and sponges etc? Would be very help ful. Thanks for all that you do. 😊😊
As a licensed aesthetician please don't ever buy gently used, por used at all makeup. It's never sanitary and the are no ways to truly sanitize the makeup without ruining it.

I recently had a stye and definitely going to try this thanks!
Just the video I needed thank you!!!!!
Will it leave a strong smell of alcohol? I actually did it with 50% and I ended up throwing it away due to the smell
You can also freeze your lip gloss/ mascara overnight. It doesn't change formula but it kills all the bacteria.
What about cream products?
Is it okay to use ethanol rather than the isopropyl?? I only have 70% ethanol with me rn
I just bought a too faced cream bronzer at tjmaxx and I was so mad because someone swatched it. it was touched but It was $19 less than normal, and I figured it was worth it. I wanted to figure out a way to sanitize it though since flu season is here and all. :)
how do u clean cream palettes?
sanitizing the mascara and lipstick applicator but the germs already stayed on the inside,😥 germs are ok thats life
I let some girls use my makeup at a friends house cause they promised to be careful then I went back to check and they completely destroyed my makeup. Gotta throw those friends
For twist top eyeliners you can also use a pipette to drop some down the tube to further disinfect
🔥🔥🔥☝🏾👑🔥thanks for the refresher on this 😁🙏🙏🙏🔥
how long do you leave the lipstick wand applicator for it dry???
you can just freeze the lipstick to clean it
Can you make a Depop video about your tips and tricks and maybe about the items you're selling? :3
My sister used my eyeliner on her waterline with no permission and now I need to clean it cuz you don’t know water crust is in there 🙄 def making her buy me a new one

For powder and eyeshadow I would spray the alcohol on the product
I don't see how this will work. Unless you gas the whole thing or use an UV light, I don't see how you would guarantee that the complete product is disinfected. This only makes you (mentally) feel better about sharing used products.

Hi, can you recommend a few substitutes to Equate? We don't have it here!
Equate is Walmart's pharmacy label. Just use your store brand alcohol. Anything that says 70 percent will sanitize it.
