    Pro Groomer here! I don’t think you did to bad of a job for a non professional. I see some snarky comments about your dood not looking like a dood but that’s the fun thing about this breed you can basically sculpt them and have them in whatever haircut you desire. I think she looks adorable no matter what 🤷‍♀️. I do have a few suggestions for you.
    1. Get rid of the skip tooth 7 you are using and get a 7f. The skip tooth is more likely to grab skin and cause nicks also the 7f gives a smoother cut.
    2. When in the armpits and on the inside crevice/flanks of the back legs please use the #10 blade as these are known as “danger” zones. The 10 will make it less likely to nick/ grab the skin. It’s areas nobody will see so it’s ok if it’s shorter.
    3. This is just preference you can do this if you want and I get your reasoning for doing it the way you do but to prolong the life of your blades and clippers bathe first to get all the dirt and debris out of the coat.
    Shorter coats are easier to maintain and for active dogs they are just more comfortable and happier. Especially if they swim it prevents matting. I think it’s a great bonding experience with your dogs to do the grooming at home.

      Roxy, thanks for sharing your pro tips! I am doing this now with my golden doodle. She had a bad experience from an untrained pro at large pet store, so now she is afraid of clippers. I am scissoring her and protecting her skin with a comb, being very careful. Would you recommend I buy a grooming table or just do something like she is doing? I am older and my knees can't take kneeling on the porch. Thank you so much for any thoughts you may have!🐶

      @@donbrush I’m so sorry to hear about your girls bad experience 🥺. I would definitely invest in a grooming table if you are going to groom your dood yourself. It will save your knees, back and neck. It would be nice and a great benefit to both of you if you can get her to let you use and trust the clippers again. This of course won’t happen over night and will take time. You will want to do some desensitization training with her to slowly introduce clippers back in her life. There is a “prank” app for phones called Real Razor. It makes the phone sound like clippers and makes it vibrate. You can download that app and start with just doing about 45 secs of it on and around her starting from her back end and working towards her face little by little. As she starts to tolerate it and get better make the fake clipper sessions a little longer each time focusing on different parts. During the sessions especially when she doesn’t react give her a treat and always reward no matter the behavior after each session to make sure she relates the “clippers” and experience to a positive one. Hopefully/eventually you will be able to use real clippers around her and again starting slow in sessions. I hope this helps some. Good luck to you and your girl 😊

      Hair cut prices aren't based on age. Puppies are usually much harder to groom because you have to train them while you groom.
      And small dogs aren't automatically easier.
      Did you try this at home?

    If you have an expensive trimmer set then wash and dry their hair. If not the dirty hair will dull the trimmer blades a lot quicker.

    Professional groomer here 🙋🏼‍♀️
    One- doodles are not hypoallergenic
    Two- they do indeed shed because they have fur, not hair. GOLDENdoodle. Part Golden Retriever.
    Three- They cost so much because, like you said, their hair can be crazy and thick. Also they don’t just get a haircut and bath, they also get blown out, nails trimmed, ears cleaned, hair brushed AND combed out. It’s A LOT of work! Especially when 99.9% of the time doodles are matted. Some of your comments were a bit insulting to be honest. Cute dog though, and you’re lucky she’s really good.

      @@johnnaroberts2474 I have two Goldendoodles. One looks just like a standard poodle and the other is more wavy hair. The wavy hair one is the one that "doesn't' shed. The poodle like one gets what we call tumble weeds. The hair floats around my hardwood floor in big balls and I have to vacuum twice a day. They are both a huge amount of work to keep up with matting. They also have many allergies and need to be trained. They are amazing dogs, just like Poodles, Golden Retrievers or any dog, but people are being mislead into thinking all of them don't shed.

    I love how gentle you were. I would however like to add in case someone has allergies that not all goldendoodles are hypoallergenic. Most doodles actually are not hypoallergenic, unless they are more poodle than doodle (like an F1bb and even then they still have the possibility of being non hypoallergenic) You did a great job clipping her though and I love the tip about the table cloth! I always cut my doodle’s hair and then bathe her too for the exact same reason, I know groomers do it the opposite but I refuse to bathe her then deal with having to wait for her to dry up and then putting her through the haircut. It’s so much easier and makes more sense to cut then wash them

      Grooming a "dirty" dog will dull your clippers faster! As a home groomer myself I clip my dogs dirty..I have 2 sets of blades and just send one set off at a time to get sharpened! I can imagine why groomers don't wanna do that lol but in a home setting with one or two dogs it's not that big of a deal imo it's harder to wash the extra hair 😅

      Yes. I agree you don’t clip them first. Unless you are going to shave them or unless you can afford to buy blades all the time. You definitely don’t use ex: 7F dot use any F blades They are for finishing. I love your energy you have in your video. You sound like someone that knows how to groom. The only problem I have is you don’t understand how to groom. I’m not a professional groomer but I do know how expensive it really is to buy the tools and equipment you need to groom a doodle or other breeds. It is no wear close to $200.00. If anybody grooms there dog there self will finally understand why it cost $100 I didn’t understand why it cost so much either. Now that I do my full sz doodle myself I know they deserve every dime. It’s a lot of work. Just be honest with all of the viewers and you will do great with teaching other’s how to groom. First thing should be You are not a professional or experience groomer. This is how you groom at home to save money. They might know your not a professional but they will think you are a experienced groomer. We all learn something every day. So be open to this feedback. I want you to keep your subscribers. The only way to do that is just be honest. That’s all. Please don’t say you are a experienced dog groomer. Because you are learning the ropes as you go. Some of the information you’re giving is false and the lack of understanding the price groomers charge is proof of that. Yes, people can clip there pets but it’s a lot of work and you make mistakes as you go. So I wish you well and hope to see your video’s in the future.

      I would start at 8 weeks. Grooming desensitization is a training process, just like teaching your dog how to sit. It needs to learn how to not freak out in the tub and near clippers. 6 months is a little late for this, considering 8 weeks to around 6 months the dog is working into his personality and most of the training is recommended at this time. Spraying your 6 month old dog with water and then putting clippers on its face is going to likely traumatize it, especially if you do it once, and stop forever because they understandably freak out.

    Idk if it was this video or another one of yours that I saw a while back (super helpful btw, thanks so much!!) but I think you said to shear before washing the fur so you don’t have to wash and blow-dry all that extra hair.. i was wondering though, what are your experiences with the clipper? Do the blades get worn more quickly if there’s still dirt in the fur? Just got a new expensive shearing machine cause the cheaper one got dull pretty quickly and was wondering if you had tips for preventing that from happening.

      Groomer here! It depends on where you live what the cost would be about but typically like she answered they start around $75 and can go up to $160 (that’s very high end). I would just make sure to do your research on the groomers in your area check out reviews and number one before anything make sure it’s a SAFE PLACE! The first time someone brings me there dog i can’t let them stay in the groom room with me for liability reasons but I FaceTime them while I have there dog and just set my phone up in the corner of my room so they can view everything and the whole process. Congrats on the teddy bear... I mean new puppers!!

    Also, I can see you just liked my comment, I know now the higher the number the shorter it is, but is 0 without any guards so it's super short? Also, I really needed to ask, what length do you do on her ears? Can you use scissors on the ears, or do you shave? If so, what are the recommended numbers because I can't find any videos on natural short trimmed ears, they all looked like ear muffs lol.

    • @BONDBEAUTYSJUNGLE

      On the ears I trim the bottom with scissors and carefully go around the ear to shape it I don't run the clippers over them because I noticed it makes it look funny

      @@BONDBEAUTYSJUNGLE I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but after trimming the ears only at the bottom, it still grows around all over the ears, right, so do you use scissors? On the sides?

      Hello! I’m a dog groomer and I saw your previous comment as well so I’m just gonna let you know... a #10 is used on dogs sanitary areas (potty area, armpits and between eyes) a #30 or #40 is used on their pads and is much shorter than a 10. A #7 blade is longer than a #10 blade. And a 0 is used as an attachment comb for longer lengths

    Man if I sent a dog home like that I'd be crusified....also kind of rude for you to think that groomer's are just in it for the money🤷🏼‍♀️
    But I would like to point out great job on teaching your doodle to be calm for haircuts. 7s (especially skip blades) are incredibly dangerous.

      I don't think they are all in it for the money but it is cheaper to just do it yourself than pay for it if you can but everyone's different my hubby would rather just let someone else do it which is fine haha yes they are very when getting groomed ♥️♥️♥️

  • @Mediumkate547
    @Mediumkate547 3 года назад +1

    This is entirely false. You want to wash them first. Then groom them especially if you’re doing a poodle or doodles. You want a blow dryer and once you blow dry and brush them the best you can, it’ll be so much easier to groom them. They’re hair will be straight and puffy and the groom will look professional

    • @Mediumkate547
      @Mediumkate547 3 года назад

      @Judy Wang the groom isn’t easy. It’s much easier de-shedding huskies in my opinion because it’s a lot of work to actually get the job done and get it right. What she said in the video was kind of offensive to groomers, “you don’t have to spend $100 for a groom to just get them groomed and washed” it’s so much more than that. Teeth brushed, nails trimmed... hair has to be all combed out and good to go. It takes time. So of course it costs a lot of money

    I don’t think it’s bad, but I wouldn’t be so quick to judge a groomer and the price. It’s more complex if you’re grooming correctly and not just doing a home groom. You’d be surprised with how picky people are with haircuts on their dogs... just saying..

    This groomer is to ruff. Jerks the dog around. The dog tries to be friendly to her, she never speaks to the dog as she groomers. The dog just wants her to show her a little love. I have groomed 21 years. Have my own business. It calms the dog to speak to her as you cut her hair. And, what the heck have you done to the top of her head? Looks weird. Try scissoring like a poodle head.

      Yes and did you see how rough she was with that slicker brush on that poor dogs face and ears. Sadly people think this was amazing grooming advice. I have 3 doodles who I keep mat free, they enjoy grooming , I talk to them throughout, make it enjoyable and when they’re done they look like….. doodles. If you are just going to shave your doodle you really should choose a different breed. These are high maintenance dogs.
