Dude, I just liked and subscribed because this just made my dream of a full fledged castle a reality! I'm gonna try and apply this to the corner towers of the external wall, then build a keep inside with four towers half of this circle size and see how it looks. But hey, this was amazing help, thanks a lot!
This is the kinda thing I LOVE to hear, go forth my child and BUILD!!!! Hahahaha
This has helped open my mind to the building functioning so much like I can’t believe how much this little 5-6 gig game has packed in it like it truly is one of the games of the decade and they keep updating it for free like no mans sky it’s unreal
Subbed for the knowledge and ease that you've explained building with stone blocks. Thanks for making the vids!
Really glad you enjoyed it so much! Thanks for the sub :) You're welcome :D
Very nice! I almost reconstruction my whole stone building after this video thank you for the help
This is super helpful, thanks for making it!
Glad it could assist! :D
Great tips for the future. I didn't realize it was that easy! My keep is all angled but it's part of the design.
Thanks! Pretty chill right? Honestly circular building is nice but I do think angled designs and blocky corners and bits sticking off here and there is much more gorgeous to look at.
This guy does it like a pro... would have never guessed that he would only have 900 subs... i thought just by watching the start of this vid that he would have like 100k to 1mil... keep up the crazy good work my guy.!
Wow, thanks! Really kind words, appreciate them man! Comments like this help me keep the motivation to keep putting videos out :D
Congrats on 1k!! You rly growing fast
@@sigurdolsen3653 Thanks man! Yeah.. it's a little mind blowing honestly!!
Great video mate thank you. Solid
No worries! Glad you liked it :D
Yo this was really helpful! Thanks, man :)
Glad to have been of service!
Just started building with stone. Thank you for this. I'm looking at having multiple bases and this is going to be perfect for my "Forward Outpost" base near the swamps =D Great job! Power to the Beard!! (A nice set of build tutorials would be nice..Wood simple, wood advanced, wood/stone combo..I personally love those kinds of vids as well as "Let's Play")
Thanks for the kind words! I'm currently keeping my let's play content to the twitch stream, but, that may change in the future! I'm planning on pumping out a ton more build tutorials in the coming weeks, so hopefully you'll find some videos there that help! :D
solid tutorial man tyty
You're absolutely welcome bud!
FINALLY! A STONE GUIDE!!!
Hahahahahaha ;)
Thanks for sharing your building experience, You Rock...LOL
Just got started a few days ago so I appreciate the tutorial, very helpful! Would love to see some wood with stone structures.
No worries! Absolutely planned in the soon future :)
As a heads up, your wish is my command :) ruclips.net/video/oQQJlAnS1-s/видео.html
do a full castle guide like a really big castle with a courtyard etc!!
I spent hours dicking about in debugmode hitting my head into the wall figuring out the damn Stone limits. I did something similar to this build but stuck with the wall pieces circling them into the center for the floor and ceiling and it worked but it was just taxing as all hell. Thank you for showing me something a lot better saving my sanity.
Ooooof! Glad I could help :)
How have you not gotten more subs than this man? This video was great, short, and to the point. This helped out greatly. 1 more sub from me. Hope you get more!
Thanks man, I appreciate it, I'd argue the channel is still relatively new, even though I've been making videos for a while it's only Valheim's release where it's taken off properly. I'm sure the subs will come with time and more content :D
@@TimoRedbeard No problem man. I hope they do, you definitely earned 'em.
Don't always comment.. But this is higher quality tutorial then most
Tips for you:
1) Creative mode (aka using devcommands and debugmode when making videos would save you a lot of time)
2) 4x2 walls are much more efficient than wasting stone on 2x1s (especially when you're building 2 2x1s... just build a 4x2). You're probably going to want the extra height anyway.
3) It's called "snapping", not "clipping". Clipping is what happens when something goes through something. Snapping is what happens when something attaches to something else.
2x1 is better than 4x2. When overlapped or "bonded" the wall becomes much more durable not only in a structural sense but in a health sense aswell. Enemy attacks suffer from multitarget penalty just like ours do, so if a troll were to strike your wall it would do significantly less damage than if they were stacked straight up.
I wish I had known this great method when I built my Colosseum 😅
Loving your vids man, this is such a fun game to build in, far superior to ARK, I'm going to build a castle with a giant circular bastion style tower in the middle
Glad you love them! it really really is fun to build in, good luck with your castle!
Thanks heaps for this dude, for the love of OCD builders like me I hope we get triangle pieces.
You're welcome! Me too, meeeeee tooo hahahaha.
@@TimoRedbeard If this game gives me triangle blocks it will take over as my favorite game. The building has me hook line and sinker especially with the Celtic/Nordic styles but with triangles my life will be complete haha thanks again man, my Celtic Cross base is underway thanks to you!
@@Synthetic-Chicken Valheim Plus and ABM defo helps with the creativity! Recommend you check out my Pimp Your Base series too in terms of "cool building ideas" And if you haven't used ABM yet it will CHANGE YOUR WORLD.
@@TimoRedbeard Is that ABM a mod for Valheim?Just googled, damn this is gunna get some hours!
@@Synthetic-Chicken Yeah! It's part of Valheim Plus :D
I've noticed this with pillars. If the block your placing is on depends on how deep or how much it pertrudes. I also don't like how you always have a gap between certain pillars that interact with each not in a straight line theres always a small gap or area that doesn't connect straight into what it's connected to. You have to hold shift and line them up yourself for them to look anesthetic
Pillars are a pain in the ass to stack against other things 100%, it's a real shame.
What other build guides would you like to see? TELL ME
I'm really interested in max structures. You seem to be the only channel that properly shows the *limits* of building in the game.
What's the highest thatch roof you can build with wood logs? How far apart can two roofs approach each other without needing a support beam in the middle? etc
I'd also love to see tangible buildings using the examples you showed in your building strength video. Like, OK you can build X high with core logs but what would that top layer look like with floors and a roof? How far out can they go?
I think a lot of players now understand how to build and what looks cool but I for one know I'm not being efficient with my building. I'm probably taking up more space with support beams than I should just to be on the safe side!
@@DannyBurke Thanks! These ideas are on the list, expect videos on them soonTM :) Appreciate the ideas.
headsets, water bottles, and printers.
brilliant.
Don't underestimate the power of the left shift key in building!
It's fantastic right?
I have a massive clearing due to half drunk tree cutting. Going to try a 10 then turn with 4x2 pieces. I have a portal to a mountain so stone is just a time issue.
Wheeeeeeeeeew. That's gona be HUGE. Good luck! Hahaha, may the FPS hold out for ya.
@@TimoRedbeard got up to 4 of the 4x2's before terrain management became an issue and beyond 3 of them is totally ridiculous in size.
@@jongoodrich7642 I am honestly not surprised in the slightest hahaha! GG man
This would've helped if only I this watched before building my 3 story 35-40 stone floor wide sea castle... damn now it's too late to add these in. Also I hope the ocean biome isn't too punishing when they release the ocean biome or my main castle I spent days on will be destroyed...
Ah man, Sorry! That sucks! I'll endeavour to psychically inform you of all my videos that might help you as they release ;) ;) Glad you enjoyed though.
I would've thought you'd use debugmode to build without restrictions lol (f5 type "imacheater" enter, debugmode enter, god enter. Then out of f5 menu press z to fly and b to basically go creative mode)
I actually didn't know about debugmode back when I made this video, I do use it for my guides these days though :)
Could you do a guide on how to build tall with stone without it breaking? Thanks, love the vid!
Absolutely can! Going on my ever growing list of requested guides hahah
You can just use wood iron poles
Aye you absolutely can, I think his request was for a stone specific guide though :)
@@TimoRedbeard Yes, what I mean is you can use wood iron poles to support tall stone structures. Stone tiles are supported by vertical iron poles anywhere you snap them together (I think so at least) and horizontal iron poles as long as the stone is on top of the iron pole.
If you don't like the look of the iron poles you can hide them by placing them inside 2x2 vertical stone pillars composed of stone floor or stone wall tiles.
@@cefeder1 Oh, no, unfortunately not, wood Iron shares the same structure code as stone, if you snap wood iron to stone it actually performs worse
Does anyone know why when I place stones on the ground, it keeps breaking. 🤔
Took me till the end of the video, but I remembered! The music was from Northgard :D Also a great game imho.
Northgard IS a great game :D
What about adding doors? I can't seem to get them to fit properly.
So when building with stone you almost always want to use gates or Iron Gates, and then I tend to frame them in with wood or iron beams/poles, and then they look good and fit correctly :) If you're making the same size circle as I did, then a 4metre (2 wall wide) gap with two gates in fits great! :D
Your just built different my brain can only build uneven square houses
Hahaha! Naaaah, you got this man, you can do it!
Setting up a stone floor on the next level is doable? I had no luck with it unless I place so much pillars downstairs that the entire room was filled with them...
Absolutely doable! Will be dropping a guide soon but if you want to see kinda how I do it, check out part 2 of the Pimp your base series :)
Don't worry, I've Subscribed now.
Thankyouu!
Thanks Timo, No Bullshit and straight to the point & easy to understand. i searched for the "Perfect Circles In Valheim" & Your Video Was On Top!. Kindest Regards : LuckyDemon#7630
Hello sir, do not take it offensive pls. I want to subscribe your channel. I almost forgot. I do need to be reminded. These reminding is are fantastic and are working. Pls keep copy pasting other youtubers about this. Til Árs ok Friðar.
I got you bud ;)
How high can you go with that?...I tried building a square tower by staggering the 1x2 like you would a brick wall and about 4 flight of stairs up it couldn't support mr going any higher.
So I covered max limits with different materials in this video -> ruclips.net/video/8n4wEJTKGqM/видео.html BUT, as a general concensus you can stack stone by itself to roughly 12-14 metres high (6-7 walls) However, there is a trick, video coming soonTM, where you can essentially make part of your structure underground by raising the ground around the walls, that allows you to build to 20m+
@@TimoRedbeard i would love to see a video showing how high you can actually build a tower
Especially a stone tower!!
Gotcha! Adding it to the list! :)
Is the reason for all the gaps because the devs miscalculated or some shit? It really fkn sucks that its so scuffed and stuff overlaps all the time
The reason for the gaps is because I placed the outer wall inside eachother, if you snapped it to the furthermost corner instead of the innermost corner there wouldn't be as many gaps at all, but you'd have a bunch of lines on the outside which look crap :(
Hello sir, do not take it offensive pls. İf i want to subscribe a channel i will subscribe. You don't need to remind it. These reminding is cliche and it's not working. Pls stop copy pasting other youtubers about this cliche. Thanks.
I won't stop :) I won't take offense either though :) Have a great day :)
What a silly thing to say to someone trying to build a RUclips presence...
In the opening 5 seconds you show us a cool circular floor, but then in the video you just show us how to build some basic trash floor, not even circular. Big downvote, baited me in cause I wanted to see how you did it, then you just say "to make a circle keep changing the degrees, and if you're consistent then its a circle."
I'm sorry you didn't like it! It was one of my earlier videos and I've learned a ton since then! Apologies, hope you enjoy any others you come across! :D
Thanks for the response, the problem was I already knew how to make circles and how to fill in the corners, but I saw that floor in the opening and liked it. Then when you got around to making the floor, and you didn't make that floor I liked I was disappointed.
It's hard to tell what some people consider beginner knowledge vs more advanced stuff. Like my friend, he doesn't read the loading screen tips. He said the first few were completely useless, "huggin the raven has useful advice", "use a bow to kill deer", "yellow hits are crits and greys are resistance" that one he figured out before the tip appeared so he saw them all as useless. Well the other day he was watching me work on my build and he asked, "Why do you have work benches everywhere? You're not building over there." So I told him it stops mobs from spawning, blew his mind, he doesn't read the loading screen tips.
