This is the stone building guide I have been looking for. Showing me how far you can space out the supports and ways to increase the span.
Building a new stone base and I've done everything out of core wood and dark wood before, hit a few hiccups along the way and this video is a tremendous help thank you
I was actually looking for vids on stone tower circle roofs, but now I can make an awesome roof for the main part of my keep too! Awesome vid!
A fantastic idea for a stone bridge too
Absolutely!
I just started playing valheim a couple of days ago and I just started getting into stone building. This will help me tremendously. Thanks for the video!
I've converted the Elder Boss temple into a stone castle with 4 upper stories and the huge basement cavern. I'm just getting to grips with stone, these builds are awesome thanks 👍🏻👍🏻
Yeah my elder platforms keep being at the coast which is infuriating, I really want to do an under-elder build haha.
Fantastic content! Your video is a gem! Thank you for the ideas!
Great work thx from France ^^
Thanks for watching! Glad it helped :D
Wow this is amazing. Really helpful video! Thanks!
Great technique, perfectly explained. Thanks!
My build used the large wall sections stacked 3 high mounted on floor stones for outer walls and a 4 pillar support with arches. From the walls is 3 1/2 floor stones and 4 floor stones between pillars. at the corners I played around and made stairs to access the roof in the corners 1/2 floor stones away from the walls. The two hearths are each 5 1/2 floor stones from the walls with pillars at the corners and 2 x 1 and 1 x 1 blocks going up to through the roof. Arches and floor stones for a chimney cap. I keep the 6 stonecutters at the corners and middle of the outer walls. They seem to keep it stable. On the roof is a great place for beehives on 1 meter wood stands.
Probably overkill at 24 x 27 floor stones but this will house my portals, main comfort area and chest with crafting supplies. I built separate buildings for the forge and main workbench in one and the kiln and smelter in another. All this is above my main harbor and moat.
If you made it this far through my comment I did not use any stone mods for building just a lot of pickaxe work. When gathering copper I saved all stones and quarried near by large stones. Have fun building.
Great video man, thank you.
Thanks tons for the info!
Very helpful. Thx beardbrother
Thank you for this! Very helpful!
You're welcome! :D
This is perfect. I'm going to attempt a basement using the black marble from the mistlands test. These supports will be great
Top vid pal...well helpful thanks
Thank you so much. I have been trying to make a better stone roof and this guide is very helpful. Also as a fellow red beard (dyed sadly) owner I love your name.
Great video!
Nice video! Ty!
Cool Vid dude, thanks
Its almost slightly more complicated than it needs to be but also makes sense. Thanks for the video bud!
great video. thank you
Great content. Very informational and complete. I'm kind of a noob but have you tried playing with hearts? In my short experience, and this might be a little bit cheesy or even be fixed, but I get the impression that hearts allow you to build horizontally a lot longer than you should. I managed to clip snap 6 hearts toghether only one bit of it touching ground, and I had a whole blue ground structure (I was building on top of a rock). I'm still experimenting, and for some odd reason, if the heart is on (the fire) it will take damage if you step on it. But you can place floor tiles over it or slightly clipping with it and while loosing some stability I think it might be a game changer.
Good stuff!
Thanks!
Thank You
You're welcome! :D
Cool beans, Mate...
Excellent!
Glad you liked it! Thank you :D
Hey Timo have you had any success with using iron gates in stone walls/pillars as support? I saw it in a stream but wasn’t sure if it works
omg thank you so much! i was getting so freaking frustrated lol.
thx )
This is very useful! Just wondering, does corewood make any difference?
Core wood isn't strong enough to hold stone unfortunately
Oh boy, all of those but esp. that last one will take a bajillion stone!
fyi if you're in debug mode, you can press Z to fly :)
I'm well aware! I was just avoiding it to help those who don't use debug :)
I have a large house I built on raised land that goes beyond my moat, the third and final section of the house is going to be the largest, and will feature a large basement. I made the basement by adding onto the raised section but not raising the center, but this thing has to be fucking strong to hold up the giant house above.
I’ve tried something similar and I manage to made a stone roof in a 5x5 stonefloor area with a pillar on each corner inside and still could barely support the stone roof in the middle
Yeah, can be a really finicky process hahaha
with the addition of the Iron grates.... you can build a lot more with a lot less supports and never see the grates
I did the same method but some of my stonepillars as a roof are colored orange (but its not breaking apart) is it okay?
do you need iron for support?
What about height? Can I go as high as i want as long as I follow these rules.
i know, this vid is older than the recent updates, just wanted to spread the idea of diagonal core wood beams, which will make the stone pillars from the first minutes obsolete ;)
No iron wood beams??
I want more games like, Valheim, Ark, and terraria.
Noob question but what food do you have? I see that you have very high health and stamina.
This video was recorded on the old food system before hearth and home! However I have a Lox Meat Pie, Serpent Stew and Fish Wraps :D
Not anymore! The foods are more specific now depending on what you want, I made a video going over all the new food now :D ruclips.net/video/t1UoVhgxfSI/видео.html
Its hard to build a castle. The stone keeps on breaking. Maybe you are using some console command. Norestriction and no breaking of things?
I found a way to do stone roofing without stone archs. Anyone already figure this out?
I'd imagine you used horizontal iron cages?
@@jrbarker7362 I think the post was before they added horizontal cages.
Stone archways are easily the most frustrating thing I've encountered in the game.
1000000% They just never make any sense right?! Hahaha
Pepsi 4 life
Pesi max > Diet Coke || Full Fat Coke > Pepsi
Just sayin. ;)
Thumbs up for witches and 7th sons.
Good guide to stone ceilings! 👍
But please: if you're doing videos like this don't move your mouse too quickly back and forth as it gives me some serious nausea! _puke_ ;-)
Sorry hahaha! Can you tell I was an FPS player before Valheim? ;) ;)
@@TimoRedbeard : Yes, we can! :-p
