- Bo Staff Training - Advanced Level! This is how I train my Kung Fu Bo Staff. Brief Bo staff warmup focusing on Spins then I ATTACK my Kata practice (Taolu) as if I fighting to the death! I made my bow staff out of simple wood that I got at Menards it's my perfect height at six foot and I just put some duct tape on it to give it a little design and better grip

Loved this video, I practice this form so much. Ps is your bo staff lighter than an oak one, Jake?
The external work of it is obvious but some how I'm detecting an internal component in it that can make it more powerful and less exhausting. I saw the same thing in the griping exercise for bo staff video.

Wow now that was impressive.
Nice place. Sunny. It's snowing here. Climate has changed a bit, during what normally was winter there is pretty much no snow, and temperatures are usually above 0 Celsius - sometimes significantly above that value (while before they tended to be negative). Winters are shorter, but whats the worst is that you get snow, then it gets sunny, as if winter was gone for good.. And then you wake up one day, like today, just to see that everything is covered with thin layer of snow. Hopefully it will melt soon. I used to like winter, but now I don't. Makes home feel way too cozy of a place...

I recently bought a new rattan bo and a pair of hardwood tonfas. Could you make some more Tonfa videos, or even a bo/tonfa combat kata
hey jake! why cant I do spin technique #2 with my left arm?
I'm a starter and I want to go hard on it, learn every technique at least spin ones lol
I also use a big a broom (without the bottom thingy)

Ive learned this, but word of advice. Theirs a lot of change 2 be made, as theirs a lot of spots with very bad balance. Plus, the concentric circles shouldnt pause, then ur opponent can strike

#3 I seem to get a hitch in the flow at some point. It doesn't feel or look that consistent.
And #4, The way they showed me, was to have the staff hit under each armpit. When I was still at that school, I started doing it the way I saw you do it in these videos, and one of them called me on it. They said it looked like I was faking it, that way. Whatever that meant. And I don't even think they had #5, or I never saw it or heard anything about it. Which is why I had to learn it for the contest.
I don't go to that school anymore.

97MA I ripped mine out of a tree then buffed it : ) and it's a little heavy but that's great because I need the arm muscle

Kind of lame with all different sound effects he was making up for every thing he was doing. The "bullseye" strike when he pointlessly swirled his staff like a spiral was just stupid was just one of many unessecary and flashy movements, makes it resemble a ballet routine. And the rigid clambering really makes it look all choppy and not smooth or flowing at all. He looks like a freaking goof.
