I have recently decided it's take to learn a new skill and I'm seeing that learning the Bo goes far beyond just technique but your frame of mind; which i love. I order my first Rattan Bo today and I'm ready to start my journey to mastery at 36 years old and am so looking forward to it. I'm more of a fundamentalist so Im all about Rattan BUT the Steel would be my choice to I assume build up my strength and for a much stronger blow hence a survival weapon (as long as its not raining 'slippery' lol). love your channel and Bo tutorials! -A new subscriber in Indonesia
Bo staff is my favorite weapon to use, I inspired to use the Bo Staff from Donatello 🐢💜 Also, I'm totally getting a collapsible Bo Staff for Christmas this Year.
It would be cool if you tried the tonfas vs. bo staff! Or just try all sorts of weapons against each other, would be cool to see what you come up with! Great video by the way
Actually the set drills are all hard blocking and no evasion or footwork. I hate to criticise but this lacks any kind of finesse or scientific methodology.
hey Jake. You are great man, selfless and helpful. you are a very good teacher too but prices of your staffs and those you are sponsoring suck. One can construct a bo staff much cheaper and to one's liking. Keep up the good work.
Will you ever do a video about how to use sai swords? Cause I bought a pair of sai swords and I'm pretty decent at it but I wanna learn some different techniques.
Neither of these guys has any clue how to use a staff. For example when your strike gets blocked you don't just pull back and try another. You slid along the staff to smash the fingers, or you flow in quickly with the other end of the staff. Where are the vertical strikes, long range thrusts, etc?
You can’t just hit a staff out of someone’s hands like that upward attack that you did. It wouldn’t have worked if his hands weren’t clearly open before you even hit it ..
Why Kyle Keniston from KarateMart would want to associate himself and his company with a fraud like Joke Mace, I have no idea, it's not good advertising for his company.
I always liked the escrima sticks into Bo staff but worried if after all the hits and spins and things it would come loose and you'd had to constantly tighten the ends. Does this happen?
Well you should try Portuguese Jogo do Pau then. THAT is how you fight with a staff! Try master Nuno Russo if you live in Lisbon. Find him here facebook.com/groups/107849947491/?fref=ts
jake looks so happy now that he has a friend to play with

Which Bo Staff is your favorite??? Tell me.....
The full skin rattan and the collapsible bo stick
I mostly use my rattan Bo Staff for combat and spinnug and for training without a partner I take red oak.
I use a metal Bo staff, I like to pivot around the extra weight, but u cant get too flashy with it though..
Rattan!
A broomstick xD
Another video about bo staff and another reason for me to practice more bo staff. Thank you for making this video, Jake!
Thanks Sengoku!
@@RealKungFu Do they break in combat? I'm guessing a hardwood hickory or White oak could work to

This is like watching two kids playing with light sabers in the back yard
only the kids made it look more real
they keep talking about these wierd rattan staffs n stuff, i just use a broom stick
I use a rake
Me too😂
I use a mop even with the normal mop end
Just received my bo staff from karatemart. I’m very pleased. Quick shipping, packed really well.
Bo staff is my favorite weapon to use, I inspired to use the Bo Staff from Donatello 🐢💜

Jake is really Good to see you show us your moves pretty Good
Jake must have learned everything he knows from cartoons or movies
Dang, filming after filming. You're busy, good job Jake!
Thanks Jeremy! :)
Such an intriguing weapon..
Hopefully, after I grade I'll be able to train bo. Going to make a staff out of oak pretty soon. Stoked!
For Hapkido.
Can't do weapons until a certain point in my academy.
Another great video! Great explanations and demos.
I definitely like that high durability aluminum one.
And if you make Three Sectional Staves out of that, that'd be great too.
Pls make more Bo Staff vs. Bo Staff videos
I am a big fan of the rattan staff like the one you use.
my name is Tyler, your videos are the best.my favorite weapon is the boa staff,I like the rattan the best. ☺☺
great lesson Jake. Thank you.
I want that collapsible bo staff so badly. lol. It's the same as my collapsible baton, too.. at least when it comes to the grip/handle.
They are really cool!
www.karatemart.com/jakemace/collapsible-bo-staff
@@RealKungFu are there three section staffs that can be collapes into a bo staff?
Love your videos. My first weapon was also the bo My favorite Bo staff is the 3 sectional excrima.

Haha, I noticed that too, I had to triple play that bit. Build That Wall!!!
Haha, I noticed that too, I had to triple play that bit...
I notice that you keep one end longer than the other, is that a good thing
Good job my favorite is the black one
Great info. Awesome vid.
block rotate sweep always worked for me
How come you never do any sparring, everything you do is choreographed I guarantee if you sparred you inexperience would definitely show.
D Rob198, because all this shit is fucking fake.
Actually the set drills are all hard blocking and no evasion or footwork. I hate to criticise but this lacks any kind of finesse or scientific methodology.

More Bo staff videos pleace😀
Nice video.but use the weapon extension to buy distance from the opponent. This is fundamental for gung fu.
This video was dope! Dope!
I prefer quarterstaff techniques it gives a significant range advantage because of the way it’s used definitely a guard breaker against a bo
My favorite bo staff is the 3 sectional staff
Will you ever do a video about how to use sai swords? Cause I bought a pair of sai swords and I'm pretty decent at it but I wanna learn some different techniques.
Rattan is my favorite Bo, and i am interested in the ActionFlex and single tapered white wax wood cudgle
Jake mace Please tell me your history with martial arts
nice video Jake I used to do a channel like this can you do another bicep workout of you don't mind?
What's the difference between grabbing a table leg and using a professional staff?
About $75
How tall are your tables that a single leg is almost as tall as you?
My fav bo staff is the collapsible bo staff and burned rattan
Neither of these guys has any clue how to use a staff. For example when your strike gets blocked you don't just pull back and try another. You slid along the staff to smash the fingers, or you flow in quickly with the other end of the staff. Where are the vertical strikes, long range thrusts, etc?
They are practicing with each other im pretty sure they dont want to hurt each other
Nice drills.
0:19 the guy on the left has a metal bo-staff where do u get that from?
Can you do more collapsible bo staff please
saying bo staff is like saying staff staff
or my exampke "baka idiot"
But you just say "Bo", people will think "Bow".
Can we do hard-core sparring with collapsible bo staff?
thanks sir please add more and teaching slowly
You showed using the colapseable bo for defense, but can it handle offence?
do you have to learn parseltongue in order to properly bo staff
Make a vid on how to make ur own staff
I like the Rattan Staff more traditional use for karate / kung fu
Is the rattan considered a thick and heavy staff or is it light
5:46 me 4 years old get mad at my dad
No matter what people say you are good but watch your face and surrounding in a real fight 🥊🥊
can you make a three section staff that can be compressed into a bo staff? i will buy them at any price if you make them
luv that gubz back ground music
Why all the hard blocks, does this not interfere with the Tai Chi Chuan 8 uses of force and 5 steps ?
where I can find this stick in KSA #saudi arabia?!???!
your links to your shop aren't working I keep getting a 404 error
You can’t just hit a staff out of someone’s hands like that upward attack that you did. It wouldn’t have worked if his hands weren’t clearly open before you even hit it ..
do a nunchucks vs bo staff video
Great idea!
Cool stuff👍
ruclips.net/video/5dKwi8AfQ2U/видео.html
Can you please tell me which is a good starter bo staff also I'm 4 ft 11 inches
id like a 6 foot ruttan where do i find this?
does karate mart deliver in europe ?
my favorite is the collapsible bo stick.
Is staff fighting/training a great all round exercise?
6:49 who was that person in the background on the left
I also just get a stick of 3/4 EMT
you have to be felxible with your hand when defending and then you can go left or right with the hands.... dont let your weapon fly away:)
Why Kyle Keniston from KarateMart would want to associate himself and his company with a fraud like Joke Mace, I have no idea, it's not good advertising for his company.
When will the collapsible bo staff be shippable to the uk?
they do shipping to UK now I just ordered it a couple days ago :)
Qué tipo de palo o bastón son esos? :)
Rattan. Kind of bamboo but not hollow.
my favorite is telescopick Bo staff
what is the difference between the burned rattan and full skin rattan staffs?
The bar in the air 😎🧐😉
In a real fight which would be better a metal or wood staff
Depends on how much damage you want to do.
I always liked the escrima sticks into Bo staff but worried if after all the hits and spins and things it would come loose and you'd had to constantly tighten the ends. Does this happen?
how to block that move which is faking the movment and then hitting Rn2 or Rn 15 or Rn22 how can we avoid being faked by that move ?
With is your most favorite bo staff
I sparred with Napoleon Dynamite. He’s pretty good with a bow staff.
How does the collapsible bo staff hold outsiede? allso with magnets?
Jake you are spur cool
sir i want to know that is there any other bo spinning technique after that you taught in video 5 ?
You guys ship To COSTA RICA?

Have you ever used a hickory staff?
love u bro👍👏👏
All the people who are saying they are looking like kids try it then you will know how hard it is !!!!
I'm no expert but... someone says that the rattan move too many vibrations to the body...
