Jake, my trainer, my friend, my brother your drunken teaching helped me.
A bully came to fight me, and me I want to stay away from any sort of fight, when he came I staggered like a drunkard I got my balance too. He couldn't even touch me. He was really tired and went like a mad man. Thanks Jake.
Please make the next drunken lesson. And I wish to know how to fight safely, I'm scared if I accidentally hit my opponent's major nerve, it may kill him. I'm really empathetic, so I think what will he think of me, what his parents think of me etc. I'm glad that I can control my anger. Credit goes to your meditation video.

Wonderful video. I am a 73 year old Vietnam Veteran. I was first introduced to the Nunchucks while stationed on Camp Pendleton Marine Base. The black belt that taught me how to use this weapon taught me the basic moves you are demonstrating in this video. When I got to Vietnam, I ordered a pair of Nunchucks from Black Belt magazine. When they arrived, I continued to practice what I was taught and added defensive moves. When I was assigned to a combat company, I took my nunchucks with me on patrol along with my other equipment just in case of any hand to hand combat. I was that confident. To your students I strongly advise them to follow your instructions it could save their lives. Ok sensei, keep up the good work! Semper Fi
is it that reliable weapon that u used it in actual combat
@@sakshamchoudhary9203 I never had to use them in combat but they became an addition to all the gear I carried. Trust me the nunchucks are a weapon. If used correctly they can cause great bodily harm. I practiced hitting the sandbags on the outside of our bunkers. Also, used any wooded poles I could fine. I practiced with other Marines who were martial artists. It's an amazing weapon. No fancy crap!
have you ever used them in a real fight? ( i just wonder if they realy are effective, you can only tell/say for sure if you used them in real life/ not in practise)

First thank you for your service sir. Just to answer a question someone asked you. Yes they are an excellent weapon in a real fight. Not bragging but I do speak from experience unfortunately. Great weapon if by some chance you have them and need an edge.

@@ked2100 Maybe you should dig deeper into "words" and their meaning, because I dont even get, what you are trying to express. Edited: Now I got it. Actually your words are fine, you have to dig deeper into punctuation marks and write it as: "overrated" and use a comma and a full stop and a capital letter to make yourself understood. This way you are talking about a word, which is overrated. But thanks for correcting the grammatical errors, that I made.

I have worked with the Nunchaku for 32 years and I have never even once ever THOUGHT of flipping them into the air.
I found out Three very surprising things about Nunchaku in the Past 44 years of Practicing with Nunchaku Daily 1.) Nunchaku Break very Easily even if they are Oak or Ebony 2.) Manufacturered Nunchaku are designed to Fail if you Fight with Them 3.) It's not so easy to hurt someone willing to Attack you if they Know that you have Nunchaku ....... The Nunchaku are designed to be a Hidden Weapon and the more you Swing them the less Effective that First Strike is going to be however Grappling with Nunchaku is highly effective if you have practiced Holds , Locks and Take Down Methods with Trained Instructors .... You need to understand that These are not Toys and attemting to Fight with Nunchaku that are not actually Designed for Fighting purposes then they will BREAK and you need to Hit things to understand the reactions that happen from the Strikes that you Pretend to Know Well and that FLASH and SPEED might just work Against the Unarmed Untrained Person that you might encounter that is willing to Fight but don't count on the Nunchaku working against the Trained Martial Arts Experts especially if you bought Manufacturered Nunchaku from China or Century Martial Arts they will BREAK
That’s unfortunate. You develop far more control and mastery over the weapon when you train all aspects of it.
If someone attacks me while I’m holding nunchucks, I really messed with the wrong person.

Good point Jaime.
Nunchucks can’t stop 4-5 people.
The best way to use nunchucks in a fight is to hand them to your opponent and in his momentary confusion punch him in the face.
Dustin Totten or after you hand it to them just watch them knock them self out.

I've been practicing with the nunchuku for years and you're the only other person I've ever come across who spoke the exact things I was taught. Well done.
Since I've been practicing these techniques, I have split open every pinata that I hit on the first swing! Unfortunately because of this, I am banned from shopping at PARTY CITY.
As an 'old school' martial artist myself it's great to hear you emphasise the use of the nunchaku as a weapon rather than some sort of circus entertainers kit. Good video.
Yeah you're right, so many idiots out there using it as some spinny toys, then hitting themselves in the testicles and head... it's so annoying.
Didn't their parents teach them that weapons are not toys?
i do both and i can tell you its been a long hard journey to get them recognised as a art form and they are if you learn to use them properly with ( flow ) yes the can be a weapon that wont be forgot but in the fight to legalise the art form for when not using them for hitting people but self improvement ...... as either a martial or flow artist is not helped by thinking of them as a dangerous weapon ( a spoon is a dangerous weapon in the right hands ) a nunchaku is 2 pieces of wood joined by a flexible bit that is all :P
Arn'viir Hunkrahmaar What’s wrong with using them as entertainment for ourselves? Some of us like to use these “spinny toys” to also practice flow, technique& momentum. Some of us just like to enjoy and expose ourselves with a new hobby, tricks & enjoyment. Guess some parents didn’t teach others about common courtesy & being supportive.

I been practicing my nunchakus time to time. Every day I watch Enter the Dragon and Game of Death practicing my nunchakus by the late Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee is the legendary superhero.
Keep it up.
Bruce Lee used plastic training chucks so he wouldn’t hurt anyone when he hit em
@@ksdthehammer1284 those were styrofoam
If you strictly emulate bruce lee you will not be disappointed, I’ve practiced his style since the early 80’s and I’m very good, not bragging I use them as if controlled by a trigger any direction with power and direct to the target instantly in any direction. Actually as I watch most people do a lot of swinging wasting unnecessary energy but this is the way everyone learned and they will never understand the correct way, Bruce lee way.
Be honest, that was the first time you ever said the word nunchaku isn’t it?
This is super helpful!! I am 2 months in learning the Nunchaku by myself, best thing I've ever done 💚 thank you

So happy to watch a video that is so practical, stressing upon nunchuk use as more of a weapon than an entertainment tool. Hey! This is how I have been practising nunchuk so far!! I'm not concerned about all the fancy flips and tricks cause like you said if it came down to protecting yourself it's important to use them right. Great video like always. 👏 👍
saw a lotta videos before but yours was the most calm, simple and effective video out there,
sticking to the basic moves according to you is actually a good practice for the beginners i think as well.
I've been using this weapon for over 40 years. I had some professional training in the beginning. My teacher taught the best strikes were derived from katana slashes, treating the nunchaku as a two-sectioned sword. I make my own from PVC pipe which is filled to balance and weight, and I have a non-patented string anchor system, using a single braided nylon cord. I prefer single-strand over double-strand because a single cord is silent. If I EVER have to use this weapon, I want my assailant to never see or hear what hit them. That is the danger of this weapon - it is so easy to kill someone with a single strike. Thanks, Jake for this tutorial - very REAL and practical information.
Too bad physics prove the nunchuck basically useless in battle. Im sure it would hurt to get beaned by a nunchuck. I bet it would hurt very significantly more to simply be punched, given the transfer of energy isnt lost to a freaking rope joint.
Lmfao "easy to kill with a single strike" ...ok...
@@macdietz depending on where you strike, the physical condition of your target, for example, a fetus, its very easy.
@@macdietz you're not gonna take a strike to the temple or back of the head with one of these and come out the same, and you would very likely die depending on the weight of the nunchaku. Since you want to talk about physics, you're aware of f=ma, so you know that the speed of this weapon is where the real danger is when it impacts you. Are there better weapons and options? Probably, but this one is still absolutely lethal.
That’s why they are illegal, think of the advantage of chucks over billy club, explanitory

Lol, so it won't be detected by metal detectors? Where the hell do you plan on taking them? Government property? Amusement parks? Airport? Hahahaha 😂
@@Rumeel12708 airport or cinema halls or wherever there is a security like that 😂
Thanks for the video. Very well done. Repetition, repetition, repetition. My favorite is the Bo staff, however, the gun is much more efficient in real life this day and age.
One of the best video on Nanchaku
Thank you for the great technique teaching.
If you remember in your 4 kicks that can beat in a street fight I said I am 8 yers old and and more it saved my life today the nunchucks are the best
Great video Jake! Very practical, inspires me to train harder. Thanks man.
Thank you for this. I'm in the Sonoran Desert in AZ practicing nunchaku with a set that I made from mesquite.
It's good to find someone who can teach like you.
Thank you for sharing your skill, sir. Looking forward to learn more from you. 🙏
That's a beautiful weather
Fancy tricks are useful but only as a one off situation. Very much needed but not on the strike possibly in the recoil but more in the pivots, and the set ups for off strikes.
He is a novice and has not yet wrapped his head around advanced Nunchaku. What he is showing will work for him and others and I applaud that. However he is missing a ton of situations that may need unusual technique or motions and the ability to not hurt yourself when those times arise. IMHO.
Rogers City Michigan, is where I learned . I'm 56 now, but when I was 15 that is all I did all winter long. . the sound of the chain brings back so many memories. Thank you for that. The iron t-shirt . ... Your good. ...
OSS!!! I love the nunchakus, bo staff, Jo, kasurugama, the Chinese sward and the katana
Superb master.

I'm 66 yrs.old and just starting your lessons.I'm having fun using foam ones. to practice.Im happy to say I am good enough to defend myself in the street with my Real ones I had to pull them out once and as a woman. That big dude realized I could hit him about 100xs a sec.Shocked.He cut out QUICK and the people at the gas station quiety parted the way when i got back to my car.lol.Even though im only intermediate.Their good at any age. What inspired me was as a nurse cert.in Acupuncture and watching the Elders at the crack of Dawn in chinatown NYC. (when going to Nursing.school)Watching the devotion to Tai chi.Thank you for your great lessons!Respect.🙏🏽
This is so interesting. I watched this video and I was very surprised to discover that that I've been doing it correctly for many years. No real training, just tried it as a kid after watching some videos. I guess it came naturally to me. I have two pairs of Nunchakus, one like the brown wood pair in the video. I did hit myself on the head few times and put some bruises on my legs, but that was early on when I was just starting. Right now I can do this quite easily, pretty fast and on both sides, and I can even do that wrist flip Jake did at the beginning of the video. It's fun and and a good exercise.
Good video.
There are moves we pick up over the years that have no practical usage outside of it looking cool or to see if your buddy can do it. Should you happen find yourself in a fight and your sticks are handy you most likely wouldn't use these moves like the sack squisher or off the bottom of foot etc, If in a combat situation you choose to spin behind your neck and catch arms crossed, obstructing your vision, that most likely is when you wake up wondering what happened, where are you, and where did your chucks disappear to.
Two points people have no clue about. A) a cord connecting two sticks is a noonchawk and not a pair since it is one and B) if you have two of A then you have two noonchawk and NEVER two noonchawks since Okinawan has no plurals (the same with Japanese, Korean, and Chinese)

AZ was colder to me. The humidity north was like a blanket. Love the content! Nunchuku for the hand eye coordination and ambidexterity.
Beautifully done
