Jake, your teaching is very helpful. I will always consider myself a life-long student of the Tradiional Martial Arts and learning from you Jake adds to my Traditional TaeKwonDo foundation, I like your weapons training and Wing Chun, and Tiger Style Kung Fu. Let the haters hate Jake. As one of the quotes on your videos says "Hate is like drinking poison and expect the other to die."
I have so much respect for u sir. I’ve been doing martial art for 20 years and I live on a small island in the Caribbean so instructors in different arts and styles are hard to come by. Your training videos are a source of grate inspiration. Thank you again for your contribution to the martial arts world.
Bo Staff - Kung Fu KATA. This is a beginner level Bo Staff Taolu. The Chinese Staff is a traditional Chinese Kung Fu Weapon. The Japanese say "Bo" but the Chinese say "Bang" 棒. This Bo Staff Form, Kata, or Taolu is called "Sea Dragon Staff" honoring the Monkey King Story called "Journey to the West". The Monkey King's Bo Staff was called "如意金箍棒" or "Rúyì Jīngū Bàng" or "As You Will Gold Banded Cudgel." Grab a Bo Staff or Bang and Try to learn the Taolu here with Jake Mace! The Bo Staff can be made from Bamboo, Rattan, or other materials! Enjoy:
Cool form, thanks for doing it a second time from a set point of view. The first round was a bit hard to follow with the camera angle changing so much. Looked cool, but hard to determine which direction you were going with Pam circling you with the camera. All fixed by doing the form again with fixed camera angle. Just a FYI.
This is one of my absolute favorite weapon forms! It's up there with the 7 star jian and the traditional Kwan Tao. One of my favorite aspects of this form is how much it holds true to the legend of the Monkey King. From the name to the rapid changes in the staff's 'length,' this form bears the spirit of the Monkey King. At the school I learned it from there's another set of moves almost as long as the rest of the form. Unfortunately, I'm away at school right now and left in the middle of my tutelage in this form, so I'm very grateful that you posted this so I can have an idea of how to close it out :) I'm a big fan of all your videos- you do amazing things. Keep up the fantastic work!
Thank you for all the Videos jake. Thank You for inspireing me to do martial arts. You also taught me how to spin the bo staff so Thank you. And Thank you for sharing this kata. Keep up the good work!

Kung Fu & Tai Chi Center w/ Jake Mace I am expecting to get a Bo staff for Christmas and I don't know much about it I am in TaeKwonDo and I was wondering if you could go over basic moves and stances for a Bo staff. I am completely clueless and would like to know. I would like to tell you that I am a green belt and am more then likely testing for my purple belt in January! I love competing at tournaments and martial arts is great! I just finished an instructors course today so I can become an instructor but I still have a lot to learn, but I will get there! You inspire me and I just recently started watching your videos. You show me what hard work and dedication is! Thank you very much if you read this comment and thank you very much for making these amazing videos!
I have been unsuccessful in finding the difference between a rattan staff with the skin and one without. I was hoping you could help explain the difference.

Your such an inspiration. You made me find a staff of wood and practice in the garden. I may not be that good yet. But someday i will buy me a real Bo staff. I have always been inspirited by the asian fight techniques. You seem to be a nice guy. I hope one day i could visit your dojo, or whatever its called. Keep up making these awesome videos.
HAhahah. Don't be scared? I'm only a freakin beast at staffing and I am coming right at the camera. Kudos for the camera-lady not flinching. I LOVE IT!
Jake, you should do a video on some exercises or super foods you can eat that can effectively relieve your symptoms when your're sick. I currently have a cold at the moment and it has postponed my kung fu practice. Just wondering if you know any secrets that can help me deal with this cold much easier. It would be much appreciated.

Hey Jake, KEEP THEM COMING!!! I'm loving all your videos and I love a good quote! I'm eager to learn how to use the Bo better. I'm an avid learner, self taught from the art of Yuu-tuube, any tips? Also your chain whip videos are insane! I applied the same principle to a make shift Rope Dart and it expanded the use of that weapon for me. Subscribed. Loving the vids. Is it possible you could tell me where I could buy a good beginner staff for a decent price while still having a reliable staff? Also if there is a particular brand or make that would be good for durability and price as well? Thank you very much and keep up the stellar work.

Good Evening Jake, I was wondering if the Bō Staff could enter the weapon arsenal of a Krav Maga practitioner, and if so, what katas or exercises would you recommend? Greetings from Mexico and thank you for all the motivation so far!
