Spearfishing Southern California | Scored Myself a California Sheephead

Another lovely day spearfishing in Southern California. Conditions weren't pristine, but it was nice a clear a little farther out. I wanted to hunt for some local reef fishes to restock the fridge at home. Ended up scoring a nice California Sheephead.

nice catch! Fun fact, all sheephead hatch female, red and long flat head. At some point in their life they transform to males which is when they get the bump on the head and the black stripes. Kinda looks like yours is transitioning :)

Thanks for watching! I enjoy using it so far. It’s very simple and it works for smaller reef fishes. I’ve seen the roller and it looks cool, but I’m not too sure if it’s be worth the price. I’m thinking it might be better to spend a bit more for a carbon roller, but I think it’d be a good budget gun too
