  • This is a compilation of spearfishing clips coming from late season 2014. Most fish were taken on local shore dives however the blue water scenes were filmed at either San Clemente Island, Cortez Bank or Tanner Bank.

This is awesome! I learned a ton about sight picture, habitats, clue fish etc. after getting back into this sport after a 20 year hiatus. Thanks for not giving up the spot(s) with visual land cues. Solid shots, both with go pro and spear gun!

Will be coming to laguna in spring. Have done some spearing in New Zealand and Wisconsin. Where can I find the regs for this area I am getting conflicting info. Can you spear dive with a tank or only free dive? How can I tie in to the community down there. I don mind getting a guide to keep me from spearing the wrong thing.

All good questions, I'd contact the local club www.ocspearos.org to help you in the right direction. For regulations check out www.wildlife.ca.gov/Fishing/Ocean/Regulations/Sport-Fishing
Another good resource for general spearing information is www.spearingforum.com
      Good luck!

@@jgroverman phenomenal video that makes me want to begin spearfishing. My only concern is how how often would I really be able to be 100 miles offshore, the Cortes and Tanner banks lie side by side approximately 50 miles southwest of San Clemente Island. What options do we have with a kayak until we have a sail or motor boat?
