For some reason I decided to develop a game about recursion. The initial idea was to have the player itself be a smaller copy of the level that can navigate inside itself. So you could do things to the level to give yourself certain abilities or do things to yourself to modify the level. There weren't many amazing directions to take this, so I thought of something else:
What if the "level" contained a smaller copy of itself, and the player character can navigate between the different recursive instances. The idea is cool I guess, but programming it turned out to be quite the challenge - ultimately involving the use of a render texture and quickly swapping out the controlled "player" copy.
The final 2D golf based game is full of some mind-bending mechanics involving scaling the player, changing gravity, and duplicating yourself.

For those who don't know what he is talking about: OBS is the screen recording program MOST RUclipsrs use.
When you open OBS up and start to record your whole screen with the OBS window open on your screen, it creates this effect, where you see your screen with OBS open inside OBS, inside which you see OBS open inside OBS inside which you see OBS open inside OBS and that goes on infinitely.
It is a little laggy and weird, just like Sam's game here xD!!!

It wouldn't really work, because you would not have the 2D god perspective in which you can focus on multiple player entities. You would take the perspective of one player entity, and thus when transversing into a smaller version of the room, you wouldn't really feel anything. The magic here comes because you get bigger, in first person though that's hard to convey and third person introduces camera problems. If you were able to manage those though, it still wouldn't work, because when entering a room in a room and you get bigger, you soon wouldn't be able to fit into the next smaller room, thus it wouldn't be true infinite recursion.
