    This is the best defense in the last 40 years. 5 QBS, no 1 in total, rushing and pass defense. Six players with 100 tackles and a 10-6 record. By the way, i hated those eagles teams because i was and still a Giants fan. Almost forgot a 44% completion against, which has to be the best since 1991. Football Outsiders are right and their name seems appropriate for who they picked, a non playoff team.

      No way. They were a very good defense,, but they choked in certain situations during that season, the 2000 Ravens the 85 Bears and the 2002 Tampa Bay Bucs were better defenses than the 91 Eagles , and they all won Super Bowls, the Eagles didn't even make the playoffs that year.

      @@johndolejsch5102 A legendary defense with a competent offense can win championships. Just a legendary defense can win games. In 1991, the defense finished 1st against the run, pass, and total, but they finished 5th in points scored against. Why? Because the offense was utterly incompetent and constantly put the defense in poor field position. In terms of players, the offense only had all-pro TE Keith Jackson. Otherwise, they went through 5 QBs, one of whom was a washed-up Jim McMahon. Additionally, they averaged just over 3 yards per carry on the season. The offensive line was practically a turn-style. The 2000 Ravens had two HOFers on offense, as well as all-pro RB Jamal Lewis who gained over 1,600 all-purpose yards. The 2002 Bucs had all-pro RB Mike Alstott and 2 other pro bowlers. Even Brad Johnson went to the Pro Bowl and finished the season 22/6. The 85 Bears I think are the only defense who might be better. Even so, their offense had 4 pro-bowlers, a great OL, and arguably the greatest RB of all time.
      I'd also add that the 91 Eagles went 10-6 that season and DIDN'T make the playoffs with that record. Additionally, between 1986 and 1996, NFC East teams won the Super Bowl 7/10 times. Talk about a tough division during that stretch.

    • @johndolejsch5102
      @johndolejsch5102 4 года назад +3

      @@JS-ue2si again I don't care. because that eagle team didn't win anything. they won a total of 1 playoff game. 1. and that's because Qb Bobby abear of the Saints gave the Eagles.that Game in New Orleans during the 1992 playoffs. Then the Eagles went down to Dallas and got their asses kicked. How did their defense do that game.

    • @johndolejsch5102
      @johndolejsch5102 4 года назад

      @@JS-ue2si at the end of the day it's all about the hardware. Second-place does nothing for me. And besides another thing as well that Eagles team had no chance to win a championship because Randall was overrated and the Eagles had terrible coaches in buddy Ryan and Rich kotite, while the Redskins had Joe Gibbs, the Giants had Bill Parcells, and the Cowboys had Jimmy Johnson, that's the biggest difference

    • @JS-ue2si
      @JS-ue2si 4 года назад +5

      @@johndolejsch5102 Since I'm not talking about the 1992 defense, that point is irrelevant. As you know, football isn't Madden. No team is the same one season to the next even if it consists of the same players. Even so, the 1992 Eagles missed beloved tackle Jerome Brown who was killed earlier that year. My observation was simply that the NFC East was one of the toughest divisions in that decade, not a comment about the 1991 Eagles defense in particular.
      But regarding 1991 Eagles, if the conversation is only framed around winning, then Mark Rypien is better than Dan Marino, Michael Boley is better than Dick Butkus, and the 2011 Giants defense was better than the Purple People Eaters. Don't be reductionistic!

    There is a reason that this team is the ultimate team in Tecmo Super Bowl for the NES. You can literally crush teams, and depending on the path you choose, you either lead the league in rushing with a Cunningham (QB Eagles) or you lead the league in passing with him. Sucks he got hurt.

You have to turn off the damn injury thing because Randall Cunningham gets hurt for the season on your first 20 yard scramble. @@LA25250 excuses are for losers the 85 Bears offense was at best average except for Walter Payton. the 2000 Ravens offense was average , the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense was very average. There were crucial games that year were the Eagles defense came up small. The first Cardinals game at the vet the Eagles gave up 29 Points to a bad team, blew a 13-0 lead against Tampa Bay when they were winless lost 27-7 against the 49ers at home. As I said the Eagles defense was very good, but it was not great. 1-4 in the playoffs with that defense. And they got their ass beat two straight home games against the Rams and Redskins. There were crucial downs and plays that had to be made in both of those games, and they came up small. I was at both of those playoff games at the vet. And that 93 divisional playoff game at Dallas where they got destroyed 38 to 10. Not a great defense to me
