It definitely was messy and cold! Even considering the circumstances, we couldn't have asked for a better trip! The dog, on the other hand, was someone else's that was on top of the mountain, but it definitely looked like it was having a blast as well 😆
I was one of your camping neighbors (the one in the multicolored tj that you handed the ducks as we ran out to get firewood.) Glad the camper collapse wasn't a complete trip ruiner and you could still enjoy the weekend!
Thank you so much for coming over and checking in on us! Having the camper collapse was a bummer for sure, but no one got hurt on the trip, so that's a success in our book! Hope to see you guys soon!
Woohoo! Another great video! Opus is definitely not made for snow but that’s part of the adventure! Glad you were able to get it all aired back up and nothing was damaged! We see who the trail daddy is! 🤣
That was crazy. Camping can produce some interesting experiences. We had a pop-up many years ago. It was fun but we froze our butts off in Maine, and it was summertime. I thought your daughter did a great job handling the camera. You should be proud of her.
You are absolutely right. Camping can most definitely produce interesting experiences, but those experiences turn into lifelong memories, which is why we do this! We are so proud of Carter and how amazing she is, not only behind the camera, but also as a big sister. We couldn't ask for a better daughter!
yet another incredible edit of your adventures! Glad to see you guys back out there! I think the 'over' in overlanding simply represents 'overcoming' :)
Thank you so much! We are so happy to finally be done with the whole sickness thing and able to get back out there! There is definitely a lot of "overcoming" in overlanding, but that's what makes it amazing!
Another great video😂 Thanks for sharing Don't go camping in the snow I'm in Sydney Australia recently bought a 2022 op2 demo can't wait to take it out but no snow in sydney thank god Always love watching your videos... Take care....❤
Thank you for the comment! Snow camping is definitely different from everything else we have done, but we still loved every second of it, even with the camper collapsing!
Sorry to see that, but you will look back on it in the future and laugh. Looks like you had a great time before the collapse. Keep up the positive attitude.
When we got everything cleaned up, Kati and I just laughed! We knew that everyone was okay, and this memory would last a lifetime! Thanks for the comment and for the support!!
@@GoCarolinaWild We’ve had many moments like that over the years. Our most recent one will be in our next video. There may have been a crunch sound involved. 🤣
Great video from a fantastic family. I wish I would have done this when my kids were younger. Y’all will never get tired of looking back. Thanks for the videos
It was a pleasure meeting yall, and helping out as little as we could. Good neighbors are always the best to have! Hope you all the best in your travels and videos!
Probably a good thing you have air beams. I thought you were going to have some snapped poles. Your family took that like Champs, I would have probably been very irritable in that situation.
If we had actual poles instead of air beams, this would have been a completely different story and an epic disaster. We are counting our blessings, to say the least. I won't lie, we got a little irritated but then remembered that this is just another part of the journey and that no one got hurt! Thank you for the comment!
I was wondering where ya'll went! It is good to see your smiling faces! We all have challenges when we go out on adventures. Ours happen to revolve around forgetting important things back at the house when we are 300+ miles away(eyeglasses, silverware, cooking utensils, etc.). You handled your challenge the best way you could, and that was with grace. It was good that only a few things got wet instead of everything inside the sleeping quarters. Carter will make an Amazing videographer as time goes on! I was impressed with her camera handling skills while her parents were trying to restore the shape of the Opus. Great job! We look forward to seeing more adventures as health and time allows you. Thank you for sharing your trials and victories with a Fantastic attitude!!
Thank you so much for the kind words! As parents of young children, it is important for us to show them that life will always throw curveballs, and it's okay for things to not go as planned! Carter is such an amazing young lady and great behind the camera! We can't wait to see her succeed in what she puts her heart and mind to as she grows! We are thrilled to be able to share our lives with you all! Thank you again for the comment and motivation to continue this journey!
I am sorry about all the snow and water that got in your camper, but y'all got it all cleaned up and it looked like the kids had fun that trip playing in the snow. I enjoy watching y'all's videos, keep them coming.
Thank you for the comment and kind words! Even though we had a "minor" speed bump with the camper collapsing, we had a blast, especially the little ones!
Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! It's not always rainbows and butterflies, but that doesn't mean we have to let it ruin something good!
I'm glad everything worked out and everyone was safe. An adventure is an adventure some times we hit a bump in the road but nonetheless an adventure. You brought back a lot of memories of camping with my family. Thankyou Older now kids are grown and mostly solo truck camp. Thanks again
Thank you so much for the comment, and we are so happy that this brought back good memories for you! Speaking of bumps in the road, just wait till we put this weekends video up 😁
This was like a movie! I greatly enjoyed watching. I love how you all stayed so positive and supported one another. I love the snowman ⛄️ You got a new subbie 😊
Love your video's, keep them coming! Everybody starts with a small channel, don't worry about that. I'm very much looking forward to seeing yours grow! My wife and I have a Gladiator and are considering the Op4 as well so we're especially interested in seeing how yours performs, for better or worse. Get out there and explore!
Thank you so much for the support! Even though the Opus couldn't handle the weight of snow and ice, nothing broke (because of air beams), unlike other conventional tents with poles or rods, which would have snapped! We love our setup, and 10 out of 10 would highly recommend!
As another option. We just started using a diesel heater and it has been fantastic. Would be easy to setup and let run while your gone. It puts out a really dry heat, so you wouldn't have any condensation issues either.
I just want to give a shout-out to Adam for doing such amazing editing! Dude, this video really put your skills to the test, but you made it so intriguing that I was on the edge of my seat. The beginning intro made my heart race. I wanted to know what happened. I love ya'lls vids! Ya'll are doing such a great job.❤
Thank you so much, BayBay!! The truth of the matter is that the more you do something, the better you get at it! But I will say, you have been the biggest inspiration for me and my growth with editing. So cheers to you, Bay! Love you!!
😮....I mean, we are trying to push our camper to its limits😅. To be honest, the camper would probably do better than we would. We think 30 degrees is cold😂
We haven’t been caught in the snow with our Opus yet, thank God, but we have been through some severe heavy thunder storms with it and it held up like a champ. Try a diesel heater, hot air heat with the unit outside the tent. The vent fits right through the rear corner flap of the annex.
The diesel heater idea coming in through the corner is genius! We have thought about a diesel heater, might have to get one. You are the second to recommend it! If you do take the Opus in the snow. Don't leave it without heat going, and you should be ok. The problem for us was that there was no heat to melt the snow off.
I have an Oztent and it holds up to about 3 - 4” of snow before I have to push up the rooftop to keep from tearing and collapsing. Run those heaters and dry everything off. Glad to see that the beams are inflatable and not metal, cause they would have been bent.
Enjoyed the information you shared. I have a question for you. I noticed on the driver A Piller handle you have added additional switches. I'm thinking about adding something like this for my Gladiator. Do you mind telling me how difficult it was to remove the pillar cover? I know it has 2, 10-millimeter bolts, but not sure about the clips holding it in and the difficulty of removing the cover. Thanks in advance for anything you might share with me. Happy New Year!
Hey there, and thank you for the comment! You are correct, we did add a control module on our West Virginia handle bar, lol. Unfortunately, we have no idea how easy or hard it was to install, considering we got our local mechanic to do the install while he was working on the bumpers 😬. I do apologize for not being able to give any info on this 😔
Thanks for being real and authentic on your videos! Love channels that have less subscribers. They are REAL. I was considering the OPUS 4 but I camp all season and I need something that can handle the wet nasty snow so I can enjoy myself. How much did you worry about that collapsing again at night? You get any sleep?
Thank you so much for watching our video and checking us out! It can definitely add a little more stress to the trip if we are trying to prevent a tent collapse due to snow. But as long as we are keeping the area warm with our heater, the snow tends to melt right off. Our collapse was because the heat was off, and the snow stayed put, adding all that extra weight. Rain hasn't caused any collapses for us. The biggest headache of it all is making sure to air it all out after we get home. But it has done great for us in inclimate weather, the air beams are solid and hold up pretty well! (It has even held up in 45 mph + wind gusts. 😅 Check out our first flagpole knob video for that experience ) I think you would be pleasantly surprised with how well the Opus will do in wet snowy conditions if you have the capability to leave the heat going.
Fellow OP4 owner here! Great video! I have always wondered how these would do in the snow/ice. Do you think the cave in could have been avoided somehow? Thanks for the video!
Hey, and thanks for the comment! I think the collapse could have been avoided if we kept heat on to melt the snow and ice to keep it from accumulating. I think the Annex played a big role in the collapse as well. If there was no Annex, I don't believe there would have been enough weight to collapse the main tent!
We are actually headed to Colorado as we speak! We are going to be hanging out in the Breckenridge area most of the week! Sad we missed the chance to maybe meet up. Where are you located?
@@GoCarolinaWild we live down in Tucson. The southwestern corner of Colorado is much better for overlanding. Plenty of places to camp dispersed and/or in a campground. You be safe while out on your excursion.
@williamellerman6647 his wrap was actually like this sticky/magnetic adhesive that can be taken on and off with ease. We wouldn't mind having something like that!
that was a mess but look at the bright side, the Kids and the Dog had a blast in the snow. and that's what counts.
