- Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was among those killed in the Parkland school shooting, decides to speak during Nikolas Cruz's sentencing hearing, praising the judge and prosecutors while berating the defense attorneys and Public Defender Gordon Weekes.
This speech hurts. He showed such bravery in the eyes of his daughter, shows were she got her strength fighting for her life.

Fred is such a powerful speaker. I want to give that man a hug. I don't have a daughter, but I have a seven-year-old niece whom I love like a daughter, and I can't imagine what I would do if anything like this ever happened to her. God Bless you Fred. I'm in your corner. We all are.

It’s bad enough they had to endure witnessing the eviI mass m*rderer put on an act in court; they also endured the repugnant defense team acting immature, unprofessional, and disrespectful and disparaging to the victims. I freaking lost it. Ik what that broken heart feels like, and it really almost took me out. That broke me. I'm so sorry, sir and everyone else who lost someone during this horrible time.
Out of all the parents that spoke this speech from Mr. Guttenburg really did it for me. I cried so much as he expressed his pain. Good for him for calling out all of the defense team especially Mr. Weekes.
Mr. Weekes blames the parents for inciting violence and trying to make a circus over a mass murder of innocent children.

This wasn't the first time Mr. Guttenberg made me cry and probably won't be the last. I have read many Twitter posts, late at night when one of my 3 kids has awoken me from sleep and balled my eyes out.

I couldn’t believe yesterday when that defense attorney said that no one in the courtroom had to endure what they did - unbelievable, and I’m so glad Fred called him out. This is so heartbreaking but I’m glad they are creating something good (their foundation) out of it. May all of their memories continue to be a blessing.

@@imtheman4805 It was the silliest prosecution ever. The guy was willing to plead guilty from day 1. The whole trial was for nothing. They wanted the death penalty, and failed to get it. Justice was going to be served regardless. The defense did their job, and it's childish to attack the defense attorneys, who did their job, which was to save the defendant's life.
That defendant team were the ultimate gaslighters. The victims families lost their kids they had to endure that the kids dreams (college, marriage, and having kids) were taken away by a person who pulled the trigger. The defense attorneys didn’t even apologize to the families 🤬🤬🤬🤬

As a parent, I was truly moved to my core listening to your words. I don’t know you but I was so proud of how you addressed the defense about their DEPLORABLE BEHAVIOR without being threatening. I was disgusted my Mr Weeks comments yesterday and I agree that he should resign immediately! You honored you daughter today beyond measure!

I now have great respect for Gordon Weekes. These are public defenders. They aren't getting paid millions by a rich guy to defend him. They're doing their job defending someone with no money and doing it passionately. good to see that.

Why is it inexcusable??? That's very normal. You don't rush a case through the court just because it had a lot of media attention. Better that it's done RIGHT and justice is served than to rush it through and risk the case being thrown because something wasn't filed properly or something was mishandled.

This made me cry, hearing that he saw the video of his daughter being shot and all the others. That was probably the final closure for him and to see the defendant killing them. I love what he said to the defense "you didn't have to give up your humanity." That defense was so immature and disgusting. These families have always been gracious, informative and never have I seen anything crazy from them other than grief. Beyond sad. I don't cry easy but this trial and the families really got to me. The defense should be ashamed.of themselves, totally disgusting.

Exactly what this parent said towards the attorneys for the defense was very well put! I can’t say that I would have been as eloquent as he was able to be. He has an extreme amount of self control! I applaud him and I am praying for all of the victims that this monster thought he was important enough to choose to be God and take their lives!

I think the mother is affected gravely. The father said that he learned how his daughter was killed by watching the video, that is hard to hear. That clip will live with him forever. I hope his wife and him could get therapy to cope. I am so sorry for your loss. I pray that your family will find peace and I understand your pain. I lost my son in 2017, as of today, I still am broken. May God Bless your family. RIP all Angels who lost their lives in this senseless crime!

A big part of me knows this process helps these parents and families get a sense of closure speaking out and find them all to have so much courage - that said I feel that this POS is actually enjoying their pain. And the fact that he was allowed to go through this entire trial hiding behind a mask is in my opinion is mind boggling. As a father, I can't imagine the pain this man and these families have gone through, are going through and will go through. As I prepare for Thanksgiving and Christmas season to have my Son and Grandbabies come to see me, my heart is aching watching these victim impact statements. These sleeze ball attorneys are trash and should be disbarred for suggesting these families,, who had their loved ones murdered by this scum bag, are the ones inciting violence is a travesty!! He said everything that needed to be said. All of these parents have been such incredible advocates for their children and children all over the country. The composure and strength they have radiated throughout this trial is impecable considering what they’ve been through.
