- Hey everyone, today we show off the newish DJI Crystalsky 7.85” Ultra Brightness. This monitor is designed by DJI to work with almost all of their drones. I went with the 7.85” because I do enjoy a larger screen and just prefer it that way. The monitor runs a strip down version of Android OS and is very well built.

Created for outdoor aerial imaging, the CrystalSky monitor features an ultra-bright screen that is clearly visible in sunlight. It is designed from the ground up to work seamlessly with the DJI GO/DJI GO 4 app, giving camera operators total control.
A maximum 2000 cd/m² of brightness means the CrystalSky monitor is more than four times as bright as typical mobile devices. On-screen details are clear and sharp, and colors are vibrant, giving the quality needed to fine tune image composition. A dedicated Sunlight Readability Enhancement mode is especially designed for processing the image in real-time to ensure more comfortable viewing under bright light.

Larger screen makes it much easier to be fluid with the drone
I have the exact same setup.
You can also you the Mavmount crystalsky adapter to mount the CS on a tripod. That works really well as the CS gets kinda heavy after a while. Raise the tripod up so that the CS is at eye level, and no more neck strain looking down all the time. Get a 6 foot cord so your not 'tied' to the tripod/CS set up. Works really well.
If the wind is blowing, be sure to turn the CS to 90 degrees from the direction of the wind, or it could act as a sail and possibly tip over.

The whole purpose of upgrading to the DJI Crystalsky is the ability to use it outdoors in bright conditions improving what you get over a phone or tablet. Not one remark made on performance in sunny conditions.
True.. dji should redesign the quickrelease mount for 7.85" crystalsky..
najib8224 I agree. I’m stuck with the plate screwed in with the current setup. I’ll make it work but it’s less than ideal. That’s for sure.

Mary Kay Ulsamer - it can feel that way at times. Especially if your flying all day. I’ve since also added the smaller CS to my collection and that’s a nice set up as well at 5.5”

I know this was posted 20 months ago but DJI still don't include a charger with the CrystalSky. I bought my first drone recently, it's what you have here, the Mavic Platinum Pro. The Drone is fantastic but the Mavic charger is not compatible with the CrystalSky. It doesn't have the plug which fits into the CrystalSky charging hub.
So, I had to go ahead and buy a charger for a Phantom 4 so I could use my CrystalSky!!
Steve P I know and it’s super frustrating. I actually recently found a workaround with a third party charger that has an adapter for the CS. I’m doing a video comparing the CS to the new smart controller. Stay tuned
Since posting this video, haven’t they worked out a lot of the bugs, including compatibility with the new Mavic 2 Pro? Also when you first turned it on, it went to the DJI go4, and you said that is what you didn’t want. But isn’t that what you use to fly with? So wasn’t that correct to open automatically with that app? Thx
Tundra Whisperer All bugs worked out. I currently use it on my Mavic 2 Pro and it boots properly to DJI Go4. Not sure what I was thinking at that time
On the screen, do you have a choice to move the map from the lower right side of the screen to the lower left side in settings? Thx

Hey Zeke do you have any overheating problems with yours I did with mine but my screen size was 5.5 the first one video issues second one overheating issues so just curious if you're having any issues
DRONE MASTER- DJI code 2 I have not. I’ve been using the 5.5 100% with my Mavic Air and it’s fine.
I’m hoping for something I can use my harness with so I’m not supporting the weight of the monitor with my arms.
So Zeke have you flown with it yet? For how long? How's the monitor performed? I've read lots of bugs and issues with this particular unit on dji forum. Hope you will report back the result next week or so. Thanks for the video.
Texan hi! I actually used it over the weekend for about 2 hours. Overall it performed really well. I was filming during golden hour and had direct sunlight on me. Super clear image. The only issue I found was a little lag when other drone pilots where close. Beyond that, it was flawless. I’ll continue to test and put it through it’s cycle. Each battery was showing approx 6 hours of usage. I only have 4 batteries for my Mavic so it will take some time to see it through.

yeah. My buddy got one also and had 1 issue, and since then, its been perfect. He is using it with his Inspire.
Hey Zeke, Crystalsky is not working with my Mavic Air 2, I found a 7" android tablet with high brightness 1000 nit tablet seems to be the perfect companion to fly the Mavic Air 2 @t . I will love to see a review of this tablet.

What are your thoughts after a year of owning the Crystal Sky Ultra-bright monitor? Any issues or regrets? I'm on the verge of pulling the trigger on one, should I?
No regrets. I recently stopped using it after I got the new smart controller. I have used it since a few times and its an amazing monitor. Just heavy so I recommend a neck strap.

@@jc4evur661 Hey Richard - great question. The CS is an amazing display but the drawback for me was having the the display + mount + remote vs. an all-in-one setup. You sacrifice a little brightness with the smart controller and some brightness but its compact and has great range with the Mavic. I plan on doing a new video comparing the two.
ricardopr54 how has your crystal sky ultra bright holding up? I found one for $425 it’s coming tomorrow and I’m a bit nervous thinking I should have gotten the 1000 nit instead have you had any issues?? Thanks

Thanks for the view ...I have one question. Does the Cystral Sky have cell services , because wifi dont work out in the field when you fly...I say this because you need google maps when you fly sometimes.
INTELMAXELL MULTI-ROTORS it doesn’t have cell service but you can hotspot to your phone. That’s what I’ve done.

Can’t use it on the new Mavic Pro 2 right now (software update needed) but I use it on my Mavic Air and PP4. It’s still my favorite display.

Hello, I wanted to know how I can know if in amazon they sent me the dji crystal sky 7.85 ultra brightness and NOT the 7.85 high brightness, in the box before opening it says if it is ultra or high ??? thanks and greetings from Peru.

Thnx, I do have same mavic mount bracket. Was intend to use Tablet with HDMI output. Tested and give-away 3 Tablets. Strugling with a small Samsung-phone. Made simple solution = do cover my head with black T-shirt. It works but I am not happy. Tray to put my Friends on Goggles using HDMI out. Any way Thnx A Lot for IDEAS

Patrick Michael it is bright and I suck if I didn’t mention that. I still use it today and actually plan on a followup video on well it has performed to date.

Yes. I can test this over the weekend. I do'n' see why you couldn't as there is an HMDI on the monitor. Let me confirm 100% though.

Brilliant, thank you for the prompt reply. I want to relay a clean DJI image feed into a live event TriCaster vision mixer, so this addresses that scenario perfectly.

z3kir hello - it doesn’t have a native record function but it runs android OS so you might be able to sideload an app. It also doesn’t have cell service but it does have Wifi so you could hotspot to your phone.
So... does it has option of live steaming for social media.. like Facebook ?

how dit you charge the battery's from the CrystalSky. I have also the DJI crystalSky 7.85 with my mavic air. but I can not charge the battery's
You need the charger block for the Inspire 2. I learned that the hard way but thats what I found out.

The DJI Mount won’t fit into the Mavic2 controller period. The mounting bracket is too long.
how long does the batt work for
LightSport Man I haven’t fully drained one. I have gone 6+ hours of usage and still had 10% or so. Each flight on the magic is about 27 minutes and I’ve gone through 6-7 batteries on the magic before I changed the CS battery.
I have this exact setup. However I get a wobble with the CS and the controller, it's annoying. I think it's because of the weight of the cs
I was having that for a short period then just made sure the base of the Mavmount was secure on the remote and I made sure the balljoint was nice and tight.
You wont have that issue with the Polar Pro one as it is rock solid...Search for it and you will see...

Dude, saw this video one week ago, since then i was whistling and humming that song from 1:05 and 2:05 :D Forgot what video it was, since than searched 1000000 videos of smart remote, dji drones, dji osmo etc, just to find this video and ask you what song is that :D please help the brother out so i can sleep easily :D

Don't bother i owned a crystal sky but couldn't see any wow difference between my ipad or ipad mini, ipad mini is approx 320PPI
Really? I found a huge difference between my ipad and the ultrabright CS. Just my opinion. I will say, its a drag charging another battery and keeping the batteries with me.

I'm not, still has a number of software issues and doesn't run as good as iOS.
Man, I don't like this thing at all. Thick, huge bezels, can't do anything but play video from your drone, and expensive as hell!
My Note 8 puts out 1200+ nits of brightness, although it's only 6.2", but it's an amazing phone on top of that and costs the same as mid range Crystal Sky.
DJI sure as fuck went greedy on this thing. No thanks.
