Brightness Comparison | Smart Controller vs CrystalSky vs Smartphone

- In this video, I am doing an outdoor brightness and visibility comparison of the DJI Crystal Sky versus the DJI Smart Controller versus a smartphone, an iPhone 8 Plus to be exact. In this comparison, we are using the DJI 7.8" Ultra Bright CrystalSky with its 2000 nit screen compared to the Smart Controller that has a 1000 nit screen and of course the iPhone which has approximately a 600 nit screen to compare visibility outside on a bright day. We are testing the screens in direct sunlight with no sunshade. I also discuss my personal preference of what setup I like to use when flying DJI drones, there are many factors to consider when choosing a monitor for flying including cost, convenience in addition to the brightness.

Would have been a better comparison if all three screens were pointing in the same direction at the same same angle. You’re pointing the iPhone at the sky and the Chrystal Sky to the side.
SMART CONTROLLER is the one for me. Once I started using it, it made flying my Mavic 2 Pro much more pleasing!!!

I use my galaxy tablet s6 1000 nits amazing epic
I prefer dedicated devices for specific usage.

I like my crystalsky more than the new controller because I can use it with all my drones where the new model is only for a Mavic. Also if your screen brakes down, you have to send the whole lot and you will be without a controller for many weeks which means no drone to fly!
I have the CrystalSky 5. but at that price why didn't DJI gave us the option to use it as a regular monitor very frustrating to have such a good quality unit for only a drone. They would sell would sell more units with this option...!

Will the Crystalsky connect with the Mavic 3 classic using my Air 2 controller?
Unfortunately, no, they are not compatible. They are not capable of using the DJI Fly app, which is required to fly those drones
Great video! These are cool controllers! The sun visors are a cool idea cause with the sun, it does create a glare so those are definitely helpful. Overall, Great review!

Hello , Crystalsky is not working with my Mavic Air 2, I found a 7" android tablet with high brightness 1200 nit tablet seems to be the perfect companion to fly the Mavic Air 2 @t . I will love to see a review of this tablet.
Are you talking about the Tripltek Tablet?
Not with the Mavic Air 2, works with Mavic Pro

Yes the 11 inch iPad Pro works perfectly. You can do it on the 12.9 as well but it does become a little cumbersome

Does anyone have problem with the smart controller display? Glue issue?
I had an issue with a screen protector. In flight I couldn't get anything on the app to work with my finger. Had to rip it off and then all was well. I'm guessing it was too thick to sence my touch

No, unfortunately not.
Where did you get your smart controller lanyard bracket from?
It’s from gpc cases (go professional cases) It is a nice single point lanyard solution. I prefer a single point lanyard that way I can use it with my other controllers as well
Your thoughts on using the galaxy note 8 or new note 10+?
I really can’t comment on that because I have not used them. They will work just fine. Results are probably similar to an iPhone when it comes to screen brightness

For the price the crystal sky is great option
Unfortunately, it won't work the Mavic Air 2 or the DJI Mini 2. In all likelihood it won't work with all the newer drones DJI is putting out.
@@TheHUhelps did my comment have anything to do with dji or any of there new drones coming out no it didn't! so what does your point have to do with my comment? My comment was about how crystal sky being a good option for the price....
