Yes, I want one of them and have for a bit. The last time I used my former-note the the word former iPad Pro 11 inch it died in the middle of filing my mavic Air going toward a glass door for an entry shot for our Church. My Wife was right there so when I screamed she just said stop and all was saved. Landed Mavic and sold the iPad. It is just as cold sensitive as Heat sensitive. It's a no win under 35 Degrees or over 90. Haven't flown in a bit because of the Neuro Problems I had but just hadn't decided what direction tablet wise to go in yet. The Triptek I believe is Milspec 5 for heavy duty Military stuff, you're right it could kill someone. I really think it might be the only Android Tablet I'd honestly Buy.

Ken, great video. I purchased the tablet thanks to your review. My wife doesn't know it but she is giving it to me for Christmas.! In any case, I have 2 Crystal Sky's 5.5 inch tablets with all the accessories. Whats a real shame is the lack of customer support DJI gives to their Crystal Sky customers. There is no reason they could not have support for the Mavic Mini, Air 2 and Mini 2 by allowing the Go 4 software to work with the Crystal Sky. You get no answers from DJI and like I said support is downright horrible. DJI makes great stuff but their support is the worst in the business!

@@KenHeron Ken, great video. I saw it a bunch of times but viewed it again. That's exactly what they do. They hit you with "canned" responses. By the way did they ever fix the HDMI problem that you called about?
With the Crystal Sky and the Mavic Mini their excuse was that the Mini was a starter drone and needed special 64 bit software (DJI Fly). That argument went down the toilet when the Mavic Air 2 came out and used the same software. Than when they don't know what to say, they go back to their ace in the hole scripted answers, "So sorry, our engineers are working on it, we will get back to you" (which they never do) or "We will do better on the next model"? That's the best because that does nothing for the poor guy that just spent some decent bucks on the device. The best one is that they brought out a firmware release in 12/19 v03.00.02.00 which does not allow you to downgrade the software. This was reported as having problems at least in the 5.5 inch tablet with laggy video, excessive fan usage and screen freezes. But you cant downgrade. Got to love it.
I have been watching you a long time Ken and still have the Phantom 3's , Mavic Pro, Inspire 1 as well as SPARKS , Mavic, Mavic Mini and now the Mini 2 for Christmas (another one my wife did not know she was getting me) so I am a good DJI customer. They are going to lose me to their shenanigans. Like I said, they make great stuff but as good as your stuff is, your support has to be better.
Not to sound political but it's a shame that some of the RUclipsrs I subscribed to are very hesitant to tangle with DJI not to risk not getting on the "naughty list" by saying something bad about them and risking the free stuff that DJI is going to throw their way. It's sort of sad.

Good to see that there are other high-brightness tablets on the market. I bought the Crystalsky 7.85" for my Mavic Pro last year and love the brightness and clarity, but the cost.. ouch... that hurt.
You're a bloody funny bugger Ken. Just love your videos mate. You just convinced me to get the 8 inch Tripltek Pro for my Mini. Mavic Air 2 and my old Phantom 3. At least now I will be able to see the things in bright sunlight compared to using my Ipad 12 inch pro which you have to be under the shade of a friggin tree to see the screen. Thanks mate.

I just bought a used inspire 2 that comes with two remotes. one of which has the crystal sky mount but sadly doesn't come with the monitor itself. Should I just get the crystal sky monitor or replace the mount with the stand tablet mount and get a bright tablet?
And they let this guy fly deadly drones?? You nut...... LOVE IT!!!
Bet a lot of my shots would've been a lot better if I could see my phone. May have to consider this tablet in the future.

How’s the battery on the Tripltek? My iPad 6 will do about 5 hours steady on per charge at full brightness. Also, how do you screen record the Tripltek?
Battery last all day and more, you can use any screen recorder form the google play store like AZ screen recorder for example

My main drone use is for storm chasing and a phone call or a tornado severe broadcast message sent to your phone while flying is not good at all. Currently "testing" the new DJI smart controller with my Phantom 4 Pro v2.0 but might give this a try as well.

I’ve been getting weird blots of images on my IPhone while flying Mini2. Also the video sort of freezes or blinks(don’t have a word for it). Is it the polarization u mentioned on the iPhone screen? What’s causing the stuttering video recording? I’m only flying 600ft out. Any input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have to ask. Being Android. Does it pull battery power from the controller for charging like most android phones now or can the USB be set to Data only?
It will actually charge the controller from the tablet. But you can change that in the settings I believe.
I shoot 40 or so weddings a year.I have the 2000 nit high brightness with a sun shade.In bright sunlight you need both.1200 nits is not enough.Crystalsky has some software quirks that has caused me some duress.But on full brightness in 100 degree temps it has never overheated.It also has interchangeable batteries.1 battery never gets me through a shoot.

I pondered on this unit, but went with the crystal sky because I knew it was compatible with my Epson BT-35E. I glasses. This army tab company couldn't confirm it would. Great product though.
I prefer using a phone so that itll fit in my drone carrying case. Besides, a phone will suffice for me. Thanks for showing us techs for our drones Ken!
I have used my iPad 11in for a while now and never noticed any over heating during summer in 100 + temps , but maybe it can..
I don't think for the price of it, and only getting only 720 p , you can't enjoy that 1080p DJI drones can send out to screen, and it is running a old version of Android that the company says was set up for the military..
My son who is in the military said that they have switched from this tablet to a newer version that is updated to newer specs,, and he believes they are just trying to sell off these leftover ones.
But anyways great video always Ken,, very creative..

I loved the reference to history of the world part one that was funny. I have some questions Ken:
1. Have you tested it on either Mavic Air 2 or Mavic Mini or Mini 2?
2. If it works with the DJI Fly app and the new controller what kind of connection cable is needed?
3. Have you found good tablet holder that fits/ works well with the new mini controller?
4. You said it has a long battery life but how long will it last between charges or how many flights before recharging?

I think both of them are overpriced. There’s no question that the Crystalsky is outdated and time for a new version but it looks better than the other one in your sunlight comparison. The Tripletek has a weird green color to it.

oled samsung note phones or s tabs could be option too, specially second hand. their screens can run till somewhere 1k nits (be aware that in bright sun, even top bright dedicated screen wont cut it), will probably run fast dji and other apps, and you can actually use it as a phone etc. they're used a lot witj dji drones.
Hey Ken .Nice video. You mentioned the screencasting instead of HDMI. How would that work in the real world? Suppose I wanted someone next to me to be able to see what I see when I am flying? What device does the other person have to have to watch me? Also, suppose I wanted to do live remote broadcast? Would I be able to do that ?
