    just got my tripltek 8, looks good so far. For those wondering, it comes with a matte screen protector, but you have to apply it yourself. Trying to figure out when I can get a clean desk so I can do it.. Doesn't come with alcohol cleaning pads or tacky dust clean up tabs like phone screen protectors, just the protector

      Just use alcohol from the pharmacy with a good clean cloth. Same thing. Anxious to know if that is as good as the Matt screen of the 7

    After watching this I ordered one. Been using this for over a month and can't be happier. Battery life is fantastic and with the high temperatures in Australia, the iPhone and iPad can shutdown and the screen can be hard to see in the sun.

    As is the Pro 7, the Pro 8 is a FANTASTIC device. I received the 8 on Tuesday with 96% charge. I topped it off and currently this Saturday morning I'm at 55%. My guess is that in the long run it will last a bit longer than the 7 Pro. Much easier to handle with the various controllers. The 3-D printed one from TriplTek makes things quite easy. I prefer it over the PGYTECH adapter. Highly recommended!

    I have had the 7” pro for three weeks and am very happy with it, it would have been nice to have had a heads up that a new model was almost here before laying out $1000Au but there you go. I’m open to being corrected but the while the new 8” is indeed way more powerful than the original 7” Tripltek both of the pro models have an 8 core 2ghz processor and 8Gb of ram. I understand that the 8” pro processor is a little faster than the 7” pro but from the perspective of use case flying drones there’s not a lot in it . The extra battery capacity is going to be offset driving the bigger higher res display so again it’s going to be use case based.
    If you want an all singing all dancing media consumption tablet then obviously the 8” Pro will be for you but if you are buying it solely for drones then the 7” Pro will meet your needs at a lower price point. Tripltek can supply both anti reflective and clear screen protectors for the 7” models, I don’t see why the 8” will be any different so perhaps the gloss screen will not be the issue some fear.
    For those asking for comparison between the Tripltek tablets and the DJI smart controller it’s simple. There isn’t one. From my perspective as a commercial operator who uses a lot of 3rd party software the Tripltek rules. I sold my smart controller in deep disappointment but please remember, 1200nits is only twice as bright to the human eye as 300nits so you are not going to see a huge difference in brightness to the smart controller.

      I think there is no need for you to upgrade, the 8incher simply provides more choice. Could you please confirm the model of CPU inside your table with a tool such as CPU-Z? That would be very kind.

      @RemotePilotsAustralia 2 года назад +1

      @@TomZimmerlinkat HI Tom, I agree that there is probably no need to upgrade from my 7" Pro but like most commercial operators I do like to have a backup so I will probably buy an 8" Pro as well shortly although at $1400Au it's a steep ask. I just installed CPU-Z on my 7" Pro and it tells me that it has an Arm MT6771V/C 8 core processor with 4 x Arm Cortex-A73 @1.99Ghz and 4 x Arm Cortex A53 @ 1.99Ghz and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. Hope that helps

      How does it compare to an iPad? The latest one is less than half the cost, way bigger screen, and probably lighter. I don't think it'll be as bright but, like you said, not much difference from 300 nits to 1200 nits to the eye. The ipad has a glossy screen like the 8" pro. How does the matte screen of the 7" pro compare when outdoors in bright sunlight? What features of the Tripltek make it a better choice for you as a drone pilot?

    Just got around to purchasing the Tripltek 8 Pro, found that they are shipping it with a screen protector installed but not documented and a spare screen protector. Good review, I'm learning this 'Androids' user interface now...
    Update: I have the Autel EVO Lite + and purchased the Tripltek 8 Pro Autel Lite/Nano mount. Floppy junk, I'm not trusting it for an $800 tablet. I just purchased the LifThor Mjolnir Combo Tablet Holder for Autel Nano and Lite, it appears to support both the tablet and controller. I've located two other mounts for my DJI Mini2 and Mavic 2 controllers.
    Could use a review of all the ways to mount the Tripltek to the different drone controllers...

    Summer is coming in montreal, so my mini 2 will be flying much more often with my iPhone 7 Plus as the controller screen. I also have a 11 inch iPad pro 2020 and an m50 canon camera with a couple of lenses good for vlogging and low light talking head. Why am I telling you all that crap? Because my plan is to get the Tripltek 8 to use for everything, including phone. I am going to Stratford ontario in a few weeks to hang out with my 4 year old grandson and show him my mini 2. If I have the Tripltek 8, I will take it and leave my phone and iPad at home. What do you think of my Tripltek plan where it will replace everything else? Of course I will still use the other gear at home but only at home. Is it easy to switch from phone to tablet as your phone? Is it only a matter of switching the SIM card back and forth?
    One last, but interesting question that no one seems to know. When a drone cop checks the weight of your drone, does he/she whip out a scale or look up the weight on a list going by the drone model. I ask because if they go by model, I do nit have to worry about my extended feet and gimbal guard putting the weight over by 20 grams. Maybe if I see a cop, I could just send thé mini 2 into a lake or crash it Into a tree. Much cheaper than paying the fine.

    Hi Steve, excellent review of the Tripltek Pro 8" tablet. The 8" screen is larger than the Tripltek 7" Pro tablet, but I wonder how long the battery lasts comparing both tablets. Also, the Tripltek tablets are charged by the Autel EVO ll controller where the controller battery can be flattened quickly. Tripltek sells a $40 cable to minimize the Tripltek charging current.

    • @BlairAir
      @BlairAir 2 года назад

      That current reduction cable you mention is brilliant. The USB-C spec (if you use real USB-C and not just a C-type CONNECTOR - requires the charge line to be active to pass data on the other lines. I don't know the exact mechanism, but the fact they made charging a requirement with no way (anyone has found that I know of) to override or sidestep it was short sighted. Perhaps new revisions to USB-C have or will address it. Then Android devices will need to provide FW that takes advantage of it of course. I detest being locked down on things that make sense for 90% of use-cases, but make the 10% needing alternatives suffer.

      5G is very new and most phones only use it intermittently because you have to be near a tower for it to work, so it could be awhile before 5G is common.

Maybe that has something to do with tripltek manual saying it has 2,4/5G "one stream" Wifi? Just guessing... Well, I will definetly contact tripltek. First go into airplane mode, switch on bluetooth and WiFi, turn on Mini2, press quick transfer button on Mini2, open DJI fly app and...It connects, with full 5G WiFi. It works, don't know why, but Mini2 wifi is recognised only in airplain mode. But what is interesting is that on my Samsung phones, which connect to mini2 on normal mode, on connection properties it says it is "connected through Google", while on tripltek it says "connected through DJI fly". So I'm thinking it has to do something with Tripltek/Google compatibility. 🤔
      Otherwise the tablet is awesome, I like the design, specs, the size of the screen is just right for the controller, easy editing through DJI fly app. I really don't regret buying it.
