    2:08 - funny tto see a release of a 750$ tablet with no specification of the octacore chip.
    Too much money for a tablet focussing only on 1 aspect and there have been more bright lighted tablets in that price range.
    I had seen it before and got 1 to play around with and returned due to missing balance. Feels like a bright display and the huge amount of ram is covering the cpu weaknesses. Not sure, but I had micro stuttering from time to time.

    I think the market would love a smaller, lighter tablet, as you say the rugged nature of the device is a little superfluous on a device marketed towards drone pilots, imagine a tripletek that can actually be used as a phone (albeit plus sized)- all I want is for someone to take the 1000 nit screen out of the smart controller, strap it to a big battery, allow it to run 1000 nits sustained, and I would trade in my iphone for that, outdoor visibility seems to effect more people than just drone pilots, so i'm sure such a device would be appreciated by people who work outdoors, I already tried to scratch this itch with a rugged outdoor phone with a giant battery, the oukitel k15 plus was amazing in that sense, but the screen quality and brightness was truly awful

    Finding that tablet here in Australia is quite difficult, however I managed to find someone who had one, the tablet weighs a ton after a short period in your hands your thankful there is a neck strap fitted to the remote to keep your hands from cramping up.
    I looked at that and the iPad mini 6 and decided to buy the mini, because the mini performance is exceptional and the screen is quite good, it is very important to explain that I do not fly my drone standing in the sun, the iPad mini does not go dim like my iPhone it barely gets warm heck it is fantastic for editing 5.4K video in real time, also the weight is super light in comparison.
    However the screen brightness is significant and can not be replicated through video on RUclips, it is not until you see it first hand that you realise that there are standard tablets and then there is this purpose built tablets for bright conditions, and yes I think you could easily fly even while standing in direct sunlight (although I don’t know why you would not seek shade) At the very least I keep an umbrella in the car and that provides adequate shade to use most tablets effectively.

      Tripletek 8” Pro = very heavy, very bright, very powerful,
      iPad Mini 6 = light, adequate brightness, powerful,
      Australia = hot summers so you seek shade to fly
      Good points about tripltek is can run 3rd party apps for drone commands like Dronelink, and it’s tough, iPad can run latest 4K video editing software but is fragile.
      Hope that clears up confusion.
      I have the tripltek as well now because I needed it’s power for the mapping and repeatable Dronelink abilities for long term projects, I just really don’t like the weight, after an hour on site you simply don’t want to be holding the weight to fly precise points around a building site.

    What about the maps issue if your not putting in a sim card? Do they populate from the drone itself or do you have to connect the tablet to your phone for the maps to be used? This is my main issue for this tablet. I don't like being interrupted while I am flying and the pop ups on the phone or annoying. With the new focus mode on the iphones it helps, but the heat is still the issue. But if that's the case. I'll save up and get the Autel SC for my AC. Excellent review either way. I have not seen or heard to many bad things about this tablet. The sim card and maps are my only concern.

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 года назад +1

      You could populate the maps at home with your wifi and keep your fingers crossed they are still there when you get to location. With Android devices the maps should stay in the persistent RAM so they should be there. With iOS devices it's easier to lose the maps by closing the app or opening other apps. But you could tether to your phone's personal hotspot on location then just put everything on Airplane mode to avoid interruptions.

Had to use RTH as I was over a large river with trees all over the banks. The AIR 2S was a recent purchase but I hardly use it because of this iPhone issue. I am keen on this unit but it is a lot to pay for a 1080 screen verses 4K screens, and what about repairs if I need them?. Being in Sydney I get your heat issue with the iPhone, I use an iPad mini 6, the screen doesn’t go dim, the cpu is great, I purchased the top of the line one but I know many that have purchased the base model and it works fine for them, ie: no difference in performance. I initially 3D printed a fan mount and wired a 5v fan to cool the iPhone down so I could fly the Air 2S but that was just messy. When you look at the cost buying a top of the line iPad mini or this tripltec the price is close so the difference is weight being twice the iPad but the screen is 3x brighter and that is very significant (however we in Australia will never fly standing in direct sunlight)

    Hi Stewart
    Do you still use your Tripltek 8 inch Pro with the DJI Fly app?
    Since the last firmware upgrade and recent DJI Fly app updates, I have been experiencing a strange issue with my Tripltek 8 inch Pro, where the video randomly turns black during the flight. When it happens, I can still see all of the live telemetry, i.e. altitude, speed, battery, compass etc, and all the on-screen menus work, I just have no video. This can happen randomly at any point during the flight, it has happened as soon as 4 minutes, but has happened after 20 minutes). When it happens, if I was to unplug the USB C lead and plug it back in, the video is restored, but I don't want to be unplugging and plugging, as it will eventually wear the connection. Through trial & error I have worked out that if I open the album, then go back to the main screen, the video is then restored. It is not a major issue but it is very annoying, especially if it happens at a critical moment.
    I was wondering if you are still using your Tripltek 8 inch pro, if this has happened to you at all?

      Very strange. No, I haven't experienced this but I haven't used the Tripltek lately to fly. I had it on a couple of days ago and there was a firmware update but that's been all.

      @@DroneFilmGuide if you wouldn't mind, please could you do a test using the Tripltek 8 inch Pro with the latest DJI Fly (version 1.6.9), and see if you get this issue (the issue seems to happen more when the app is in video mode, rather than photo mode, and has happened as early in the flight as 4 minutes, but has also happened after 20 minutes). I'm trying to establish if it is a compatibility issue between the Tripltek and the DJI Fly app, or if there is something wrong with my Tripltek. I would be ever so grateful Stewart if you wouldn't mind.

    It would be nice if they had a Wi-Fi only version for a few hundred less. That 4G is already heading towards obsolete and I'm sure some mobile carriers will stop supporting it long before the hardware goes bad.

    • @DroneFilmGuide

      The latest iPad mini has 500 nits brightness which would be noticeably lower, but still satisfactory in most scenarios it has to be said. Don't know about screen dimming though. We used to use an iPad a few years ago and it did a lot better than the phones in this regard - possibly because of the bigger surface area dissipating heat better.

    Did you try to reproduce 4K video with this tablet??? Did you try to reproduce the same H265 4K video you record with your drone? The question is; How is posible that a tablet of almot 800 dollars, cant run video in this resolution, in real time???? I wrote to Tripltek to ask for a solution. The answer was...... : The screen resolution of the tablet is low than 4K. You must to wait until the tablet convert the 4K video in the tablet screen resolution....... Incredible........

    Putting this huge bulky tablet on a cheap remote like that makes absolutely not sense. If you’re going to spend money do yourself a favor and sell that cheap remote and find a used RC pro remote. You’ll have a very nice screen built right into the controller, WAY WAY better stick controls, built in fan to keep the remote and screen from overheating outside in the summer, and way less bulk to carry around. These small drones like the mavic 3, air 2s are meant to be portable and this extra tablet doesn’t really fit that.

    • @mr02gixxer1000

      Also the Rc pro has far more powerful transmission than the RC N1 i can’t believe how much more powerful it is. To be honest the RC pro is what should have come with the Mavic 3.

    I am extremely disappointed in tripltek as a company. The P4P mount snapped during regular use due to poor design and poor material choice (plastic). They refused to stand behind their product or offer any discount on replacing the part ($75 after 1 year of use). They said it had a 1 month warranty when I contacted them with a video of the broken part. I was skeptical in buying into this system and I unfortunately got screwed by these people. The tablet is too thick to use with a standard mount so they sell you crazy expensive mounts. Do not recommend.

    Tripletek 8 pro don't work correctly with the Air 2s.
    The Videos will not be stored on the Tablet. It's verry annoying.
    If you want to see them on the Tablet you must download them from the drone. This costs a lot of batterie. I do not understand this issue because Tripltek says it only happens with the Air 2s. If you watch the Video in 4k30 it will also studder all the time.

    Why does the tablet not have 5G? I wonder why they choose old technology?

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 года назад

      Presumably cost. For the purpose intended, i.e. drone flying, 4G vs 5G isn't a priority as 4G is more than enough for running the apps, downloading maps etc. But your right to point this out. 4G, poor cameras and a more than acceptable, thought not 'latest and greatest' chip are probably the main compromises here. If this had all the specs of a flagship Samsung phone in addition to the 8" screen, brightness, durability etc., it would be much more expensive.

    • @stephendoggett190
      @stephendoggett190 2 года назад

      @@DroneFilmGuide I was thinking that you could upload your videos to a server for storage and later editing, and 5G would be a huge benefit for this.

    This is absolutly the worst product and company I´ve been in contact with for many wears!!!!!!! I bought the 8 Pro for about 15 months now because of it`s
    durability:
    Built using high strength polyurethane and aluminum alloy. Protected from accidental drops.
    Supports up to a ton of pressure
    Dust and Water-Resistant submerged up to 4 feet for 30 minutes. IP-68 Certificated
    Can withstand extreme temperature ranges ranging from 0°F to 120°F.
    Keeps your device fully operational through a battery that holds its charge for up to 30 days on standby.
    I used it for my Phantom 4 pro for about 10 hours during 13 months. Always carefully used and never been dropped or any "military conditions", as it´s built for. After 13 months the touch screen stopped working. Sent it to Tripletek Miami, after e-mailing them. Their response, we will have to replace the screen for a cost of $325!! After one week I agreed under protest. Two weeks later Tripletek came back to me now saying both the battery and the USBc-board needs to be replaced!!!! Their recommendation for me is to buy a new T8 or T9 with a discount of $300!! Summary: $900 for my first Tripltek 8 pro, 15 months later spending and extra $600 for getting me another working tablet will never be an option!! NEVER TRIPLTEK AGAIN!!!!!!!
