I’m a dentist....and I would like to address something you are doing that could damage your teeth. You mentioned you “brush”;your teeth after the vinegar
and lemon juice. Vinegar and lemon juice will SOFTEN the teeth, so I wouldn’t recommend brushing after the juice. It would be much better to just rinse
out after vinegar-lemon to remove the acid but don’t brush for 30 minutes!

First 7 weeks I lost 15lbs doing alternate day fasting.(BTW, I'm 70) I'm still going. 20 more lbs. Hang in there everyone and believe you can do it !! ADF is very helpful for food addicts, emotional eaters etc. Having to face food, what to eat and how much e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y is really a chore for people like us. It is a relief in many ways to just know, "I'm not eating today". When feeling discouraged I tell myself when fasting "this is the day that makes it all happen" and I know, THAT is the TRUTH.

I am a figure bodybuilding competitor. Intermittent fasting SAVED MY LIFE! I was forced eating 6-7 times a day and it didn’t matter how many hours I slept, I felt exhausted no matter what. I fell asleep everywhere. Mood swings were horrible. Until COVID-19 hit us and I had a lot of time to reflect on myself, my body, and my life. Now I do 18/6 IF I am FULL of energy, burning fat like crazy, still lift FASTED and drinking black coffee first thing in the AM, I LOVE MY LIFE. No more brain fog. No more lack of energy. No more forever tiredness and consuming around 1550 calories! I LOVE MY LIFE. did I say, I LOVE MY LIFE?

Your hair is beautiful! Yes, I am just beginning my ADF journey. Some days, I have had coffee with cream and sugar. I have learned to stop being so rigid with myself. I am no longer beating myself up about having something, if I need to. Also, there are times when I have broken my fast early, and I was okay with that. It’s a marathon, not a race. My body needs time to adjust, I have hormones, and sometimes I have stress. It’s okay to “take it slow” as you say. Thanks for the video.

Dr. Jason Fung was a great choice. He explains fasting so well. I'm a 77 year old male and have been on Atkins 22 years and have kept my 82 pounds off. I've decided to lose another 15 pounds because I'm older and don't need the weight. Carbs of any kind quickly increase my hunger. Bacon and eggs reduce my hunger by about 95%. I went on a two week fast and found it very satisfying. I believe this was the case because since fasting is the burning of ketones which is mostly fat. This doesn't seem to spike my insulin enough to create hunger. For me it seems to be far easier to remain on a fast for two weeks or more than the first two days on the fast. This tells me that I'm probably taking more than two days before really starting to burn ketones. This would probably depend on just how low my carb count was before starting my fast in the first place. All the best. (Mike Scott, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)

    • @awake2truth511
      @awake2truth511 4 года назад +3

I'm wondering the same thing. I've done five day fasts with the first two days being the hardest. Alternative day fasts seems to mean doing the hardest days repeatedly. Wondering what the differences are for fat burning--and autophagy. Like you I'm very insulin resistant.

I have been concentrating on cutting the carbs intake. It worked for about 8lbs in 14 days, then I noticed my plane going into stall mode. Craving for a 2 sour dough muffins in the morning was the problem. Even with a reduced cal. carb intake it plays hell with results. Now no carbs from any bread and I am back on tract. My goal is 100 lbs. lose. What helps me mentally is looking a 80lbs bag of cement I have stored under cabinet where a dish washer used to be. I have been carrying one of those for 20 years unnecessarily. Hopefully I will use that bag of cement when I reach my 100 lbs. loss goal. Was your 2 week fast only with water? But this journey is a process of learning what my body needs and what it will respond to. I began IF and it was helping just a little. (I am the slowest loser in the world!) Last week I had health issues and was worried I'd end up in the hospital needing emergency surgery. I began fasting "just in case." When the doc wanted to do a procedure, I had already fasted nearly 60 hours so I was ready. Now I know I can do it and it isn't scary at all. It's empowering!

All my needed protein, and a small dinner. I probably don't go over 500 calories on my 'fast' days. The fat really comes off very fast and the diet is so easy to stick to. You have eating days... and what I call 'mission' days with a very clear goal. I never deprive myself since I know the next day I will just be able to enjoy that tasty food within reason. I eat chocolate, pizza, pretty much anything I want as long as it is within my needed calories on my eating day.

I am curious to know how you are eating 500 Calories on your "Fasting" Days and still think you are fasting. Can you please clarify for the readers who are already incredibly confused with so many different professional opinions. During your fasting window (No Calories) are to be consumed. During you "Eating Window" which you are no longer "Fasting" you should be eating the proper amount of calories. Depending on what type of lifestyle choice you have made. Balanced Meals - Keto - Vegetarian - etc. What ever you have chosen to consume still has a particular "First Meal" or "Break-Fast" Meal that should be consumed to re introduce food back into your system - for Digestive and Insulin Purposes. During you "Eating Window" at "Non Fasting" times or on "Non Fasting" Days (depending on the length of your fast) You should make sure your eating enough "Calories" so your not storing it because your body thinks its starving but also not, but also to maintain you Metabolism. If you eat to "Few" of Calories during your "Eating Window" you metabolism will slow and "Fasting" the healthy way goes right out the door.

1:46 That's amazing, you can see how much happier and more confident you look in the after photos. People are really afraid of keto, I can't tell any one when I fast, and people regularly confuse keto-acidosis with being in ketosis. It worked miracles for me, I'm down 40 pounds, and the hardest thing was really just family members making awesome comfort foods for me and telling me I have an eating disorder lol. You really do stop feeling hungry and craving things, it's not a lie!
Anyone who reads this, keep doing it! You'll feel strong and proud of yourself! Totally worth it. (Also food starts to taste way better!) Edit: I have a coffee with cream and no sugar in the morning, no noticeably bad effects to progress. Do what works for you right?

My feeding window is actually not 12 but 8 hours and during that time I eat moderately low carb (about 60g carbs) . I'm trying to be reasonable without strict counting of calories . On fasting days I probably consume about 100-200 calories in the form of milk added to my coffee and lemonade made with stevia. What I like about this regimen it's psychologically easy. Supposedly, taking in any protein/collagen while fasting slows down "autophagy" (apart from weight loss) because autophagy is triggered by the lack of protein. That may be useful info for people with chronic illnesses to heal. However, it does not completely stop autophagy of course. Meanwhile, whatever you are doing is working for you! This week just after the first day I was 2 lbs down. I have a lot more to lose but with research I found I needed to ADF to break my stall. One thing we all need to learn is to accept ourselves. (Not the fact of being overweight) The "New Me" also needs to be accepted, and the new way of dieting is also part of self acceptance. You are doing a wonderful job! I am doing ADF too, I got some new fresh energy seeds from you. Thank you! You look fantastic!

I agree that we think of food constantly and therefore , we eat all day, or snack all day. So people do this! I was one of those people. Food was always on my mind. I started yesterday just having my 3 meals and no snacking. I didn't think of food as much. I just let my stomach growl. What's that strange sound? Anyway, I am Type II Diabetic, and I watch the channel "Beat Diabetes". When I go low-carb every day, my fasting insulin is in the 70's and 80's. Sometimes, it dips too low, and I have to eat something. I'm on insulin and I have to be careful. My goal is to lose 100 lbs. and get OFF insulin. I cannot go without eating, because I'm constantly having to adjust my insulin dosage, but I can do intermittent fasting and eat within an 8 hour period. Keep up the good work!!! I love your channel and I think it won't be too long until you reach your goal weight. Just keep plugging away!

Congrats on your progress. I started eating right and intermittently fasting about 5 weeks ago. I am down about 20 pounds. I went from feasting out of control to being very strict about my diet super quickly, and I am paying for it. I feel great after about 42 hours of fasting but, when I eat the foods that Fung and others specify, I still feel really tired and blah for a time afterwards. So, it is easier to just continue my water only fast. I am still having to come out of that for special family get togethers or otherwise. . .so that is usually a couple or three days of OMAD and then right back into the fast. I hope to be successful as you are. My intent is to lose about 105 pounds over the course of a year but I would, of course, like it to happen a lot quicker that that.

@@alansalgado2740 Actually really good. I feel really great. Im doing it for like 1 month and 2 weeks-ish now. According to my boyfriend i have less weight around my butt. I mostly focussed on eating. I try to eat as clean as possible. I feel im satiated much faster and longer. I eat less. I snack less. Actually it seems my nailbiting is less too. Im not worried about eating much ( The hangry thing). The only problem i had was around my period, which was a week ago. I allowed myself into the craving for 1 chocolate bar. But after 3 bites I felt sick to my stomach. I was hungry alot, and a bit headachy and such. True pms-y woman. I drank alot of water, and ate a bit more (tried to eat more fruits/nuts/salad) I realised It's oke to be hungry sometimes, and if I eaten enough, there was no need for me to crave more.
I eat an occasional (like... once per 1-2 weeks?) SCOOP (which is enough!) ice cream (I LOVE ice cream) and thats it on snacking. Other than that; I drink mint tea alot (Gunpowder tea and mint seem to satisfy my 'sweet' craving) , water, no more sugar or anything in my coffee, which, for some reason, i also really cutted down on (and i was addicted!). I dont weigh in, and I measure only by how I'm feeling. And I'm feeling great! I actually do more like a 19/5-20/4 right now. I barely eat 2 meals. The first meal is always something with eggs or fish /salad or fruits/veg and chicken. Stuff like that. The second meal is whatever we (me and my boyfriend) feel like. I even eat a hamburger (But home made, ofcourse) rice and such, but I add a generous amount of veggies, and littler amount of rice (potato, pasta... ) if we eat it.
I cutted down on bread too. I only eat it occasionally now, as a 'treat' so to say. And then I eat the best bread I can find (The ones you can bake off in the oven at home without preservations and all that)
I feel great. I plan on keeping this as my schedule. I just feel really good. And I think I lost weight. Well i'm pretty sure to be honest, since my belly is less and my clothes fit looser.
For the first time in 2 years,!! went to the forest. I actually walked 4km yesterday. I wanted to do the 'normal-old' 2.7km ish route, but instead me and my dog went exploring and went way off the beaten path. I planned on going tomorrow again, but its going to get stormy. I want to keep doing this atleast 3 times a week. (Im an artist and I primarily sit on my ass, especially the last few years, but i was very active until my 25th ish, when my ankle got rekt. Before that I worked with horses, I ran, did yoga, and alot of swimming.) My face got thinner too. I have a bit more energy... I feel like I make more wholesome and deliberate food choices. Oh and I found out certain foods make me really bloated. Like any form of potato stuff.

I’d love to get this out, can I get an idea of what your two meals a day consist of? Macros to follow maybe?

I’ve read that you should not brush after ACV , just rinse your mouth well! You look very healthy, proud of your efforts.

Melissa Lewis I need to hear this. I am 52 and wanting to be better at this. Has this helped you with changing hormones and all that comes with that?

I am excited to hear this. Congrats I will be 45 in October and lost 55lbs just due to eating once per day but carb heavy. Gained back 10lbs so now doing keto mainly due to pain from arthritis and hip bursitis. I lost 50lbs low carb in my 20s but gained about 100lbs at one point. I am also hypothyroidism so it's extra hard for my body to lose

Inspiring ❤❤❤ I'm an experienced Faster 24 hour, 72 and a few 48 hour and even OMAD. I mix it between Dry and water but recently I've been researching more about ADF... You have inspired me. My goal is Fat loss and the Preservation of Life.

Wow! Way to go. I'm amazed u can sit at the dinner table like that. Fantastic. I get so triggered, just walking into the kitchen! U look fantastic. It's YOUR journey, but, I must say you're doing it right .Love Dr Fung and T. DeLauer. Yes, u can change the rules, like u said about adding something to your coffee. I had to start IF at only 13 hrs a day, cuz it's all I could do. Now my typical day is an 18 hour fast. I love your flexible mindset. I did IF for a year, fell off, gained 3 lbs.....looks like a huge difference! I'm now on the fast mimicking diet/day 3. I haven't been hungry at all. It's helping me get back into the swing of things. So happy to be back!

I watch a lot of keto channels and I love 'em, but I mostly watch them for info, recipes, etc. Your channel, however, I watch for 1 reason: Inspiration! You inspire me every time I watch. Thank you! I'm so glad I found your channel.

Jess I’m so happy that this IF is gaining momentum. I lost 50 lbs and I’m so relieved. I tried every diet and finally I found IF that works for me. I learned I don’t need any special pills, workouts, or personal trainer. Just will power and believing in myself.

There’s a lot of info on the net, came across yours today and loved the candid info you gave, you’ve done great and natural. I’ve been intermittent fasting for a while experimentally. Had lock down for 9 weeks and decided now the time to start. I agree with you listen to your body and I started 16/8, nothing much happening. Then I found a blogger who said he does 20/4 and eats only at night, nothing much happening, still not doing any exercise having a biscuit here and there. Then came across OMAD started 1st April no sugar since, walking 10000 to 15000 steps lost 10kg, mixed it up with 18/6 & 16/8, finished with a 72 hour fast to move from 8kg to 10kg loss, now plateaued. Is this normal, was it the same for you from time to time.

Thank you for unpacking ADF. Sharing ur practical and realistic approach to ADF intermittent fasting. I love that you are doing this w ur Dad and ur Family routine is not interrupted.. Wonderful tips for someone like myself that's also an emotional eater. And ADF is the tool I can use to "tell my body to start burning fat." vs eating 13-15 times sending a signal to store fat. You also cleared up all the crap out here about what breaks a fast. Now I feel so empowered by listening to ur video. ADF is doable and sustainable for me. Thank you
