Didn't expect to hear Project Zomboid mentioned! Great to get your insight on this Devin. Blows my mind that high level creators can be this blasé with their livelihoods.
Thank fucking god someone finally said something. I went to college and learned copyright law in school and have been blow away that people are raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars a month literally stealing content live
if it's a streamer, yes, individually, no it's not a problem. If you're watching a movie or a tv show on a free streaming website individually, no harm is done
it's sad how so many twitch streamers are out of touch with copyright law and actually think it's okay to restream movies, music, and tv shows, someone needs to tell them that using a webcam overlay is not transformative and the only reason it works for gaming is that most game developers already have video sharing policies in place that states they can use that content legally on social media and content sharing websites.
Ludwig also talked about this a few days ago. He also tried to react to master chef and naruto etc live on RUclips but got warnings after 4 seconds. In the end they banned him or a few seconds and he had to restart his stream. He was testing the limits of RUclips. So it's kinda nice to see more people acknowledge the problem and put things into their real perspective.
the sad thing is that it probably wouldn't even be *that* hard to get a sponsor/license to watch some older shows or shows from smaller networks that could benefit from streamers watching one season and getting people hooked. Especially since many of these top streamers have an agent/manager that can do a lot of the leg work for them
@@ianblizzard5195 even old shows can have many rights owners. That's why I wouldn't watch parties happened on Amazon there wasn't many choices to choose from and they ran out of content quick to watch through Amazon prime.
Poki is making tweets laughing about it, "the fire nation attacked". I hope she does get sued for the sheer audacity. It's obvious she just assumes Twitch will give her a slap on the wrist but always bail her out.
Dude, relax, it's not that worrying. She's going to easily come back after that. Who hasn't pirated or watched a movie on a free streaming website, we all did
@@JaB9999 Yeah, in all seriousness, I think there's a very big difference between you privately watching some privated content and you *making money off* watching pirated content AND distributing it at the same time... and I'm pretty certain the lawyers will agree.
How is Twitch not putting out suspensions themselves for this? They have things in place like watch parties for streamers to legally do this. Just hit the top streamers with bans, like they legally and ethically should be doing anyway. Twitch is letting this meta exist by not dealing with the streamers when this started. The risk is insane for the website and individual streamers for such a low reward. Some of my favourite streamers are doing this and while I don't want to lose their content, this is so blatant, stupid and as you said, low quality content.
Because, now they can claim they didn't know.about it. If they do something however, it would mean they have knowledge of whats going on. It would have to be big and address the problem in a big way. They can't leave anyone out. So they are avoiding to take action so far, not admitting whats going on. After Ludwigs and Devins video however we don't know what will happen.
@@ankontini I agree with this, if they do one ban then they would need to ban all streamers who cross that line. I wish twitch would just do that already so these streamers could actually start producing their own content instead of just slapping their face on someone else's 😂😂 it's really lame
Twitch Watch Party is step to right direction. But its 9 out of 10 parties where i get notification that "This program is not available in your country" and you cannot join to party.
It's funny you mention the sports broadcasting because I remember watching Justin TV to view blacked out hockey games (That's actually how I found out about streaming) and they would usually get taken down mid broadcast or whatever. It's totally insane that we are basically back here again as Twitch!
The streamers taking advantage of this are going to ruin the platform for a lot of people. There will be no more going to RUclips and watching a 30 second clip of a meme pulled from a movie anymore. These companies are going to start caring more and it's only a matter of time.
To be honest I believe the poor quality of streams on twitch are a consequence of the contracts twitch gives to creators. Creators need to fill the 300 hours per month they need to comply with twitch's contract and an easy way of doing this is streaming shit-tier content like we're getting lately. It's a snowball. And you're totally right, creators should be banned for this, but they also need an alternative. Twitch needs to reduce the hours per month on the contracts so creators don't spam trash daily and actually CREATE something good.
I mean, they could've just not accepted the increased cpm contract, it's not like they're poor, they're fucking millionaires and opted to sign the contract that forced them to run more ads on their viewers, require a certain amount of time stream etc... Twitch doesn't need to do shit, creators need a shred of integrity and a shred of pride.
Mixer had an amount of hours partners had to stream different per contract. Facebook I'm not sure about how they do things over there. As a moderator on Twitch of over 72 channels and still a mod for some now I've never once heard a twitch partner that I've modded for have any hours required. And if you made it to Twitch partner and all your content was allowed before which doesn't have to give you an alternative to what to do for your stream. People can sign contract deals where they get more money per sub when they're that big ordeals to stay with twitch for 2 years for not going to another platform but as far as hours required that has never been a thing. No I was an affiliate you have achievements that basically mean nothing but it does say if you reach a goal of 75 or more you could get twitch partnership but in the fine print doesn't guarantee that you'll get it just cuz you hit the magic number. To get affiliate it's like three streams a week 25 hours with 50 followers but that's the only thing really based on hours. You just have to create your own content which is not going to tell you well you can't do that so we suggest you go jump rope in your backyard without giving away your location your viewers should like that. 🤣
Nah dude, creators follow the money as you, me and anyone would do if we were in their position. That's why the exodus from twitch to youtube is happening, money.
@@eladriladri well streamers that have left for youtube recently cited that they dont have to stream as much hours on youtube for the contract youtube gave them. Dont get me wrong money is a big factor but less time to make that same money is also there.
@@fernandof770 Not really. Gambling at a place like a casino where the odds are super rigged against you is a scam. Gambling at the stock market where the odds are not rigged and it super against you isn't.
@@adeleaccant7056 You can apply the gambling term to almost anything, but I wouldn't call the stock market as gambling unless you're investing in random penny stocks. The other guy is talking about casino gambling which is what I was mainly referring to. I would agree that some forms of gambling you have a better chance of winning but for the most part you'll be losing.
@@fernandof770 Yeah maybe stocks weren't the best example. A better one would be gambling with your friends by playing poker. You all have a pretty equal chance of losing and it definitely isn't a scam. Ultimately I'm just nitpicking though lool.
Normally agree with most of Devins takes. But glorifying a gambling addict (train) especially on Twitter (and acting as if he did something heroic or noble by stopping watching a show he clearly would’ve continued to do if there wasn’t repercussions. Like his gambling streams.) But shaming people that react to shows or movies, because people enjoy watching others share passion/excitement for the things they’re passionate about is the opposite of based. Yes there’s plenty forms of lazy content in the reaction space, but some people take the time to theorize, give commentary, and analysis, professional insight on the shows they react to, and can be transformative. I myself have done this in some capacity giving insight into musical scores of shows, story telling that occurs based on camera work/and video editing, and more. As have many others, though we’re not the majority. One easy way to identify those using the content they watch for easy gain vs fair use reasons is the camera to content ratio. Most people in these examples that are abusers of this “meta” tuck their camera in a corner of the video with the main focus being the show, or the content their watching. Those truly reacting, wanting to analyze or provide commentary know that they (the person watching said content) should be the focus of stream/video. And they should never be a supplement to watching the show/original work itself.
Plenty of spanish streamers have been doing this for years and they rarely get banned, there's a ton of streamers who watch movies and anime on Just Chatting category.
This is a great video, but kind of scary. What I don't the most is how when someone in chat tries to warn the streamers in chat they get called a snitch, laughed at, and then banned
ogg nooo, the "drama streamers" are going to get banned oooh nooo fkkk them, they only Gossip, Play the Socialist, Lick mics and watch RUclips, who cares. Let them burn.
I raided a streamer and while I was chatting with them the topic of them watching the next Naruto episode was brought up. I was like, "That could get you in trouble with copyright." Some of their viewers immediately were like, "Nah, it's fine." So, he listened to them. Copyright should be something every content creator over the age of 18 should be aware of. This is stuff I learned back during the Piratebay/Limewire days.
Completely mind-boggling how after low volume background music for a few seconds brought people down they think *this* is alright to do now. And no amount of money they could get with that could possibly outweigh the certain doom of bans and lawsuits incoming. It is nothing but brainless.
@@TealeafRogers Yeah I wish they would at least attempt to make original content instead of watching full episodes of TV. People silently watching shows; Is that content you enjoy? If so great for you! It should be transformative in some way imo
@@KongQuestCo these react streamers have a great amount of talent to make original content too! They been doing it for years, they can do it for a few more.
@@TealeafRogers what about the original creators they steal contents from? These original creators spend millions and millions of dollars, with hundreds of staff and crew working together towards creating original contents, and yet these stupid twitch streamers have the audacity to steal that content and put it on their streams for free? These streamers deserve no compassion coz they're fucking criminals tbh.
Twitch is doing this this to themselves. When i heard TWO HUNDRED hours of live content in a partner contract, i KNEW it was a recipe to create lazy content like this just to hit your quota
14:30 this is NOT something new, you even said that in an older video where people were streaming full movies, it might be new some of the top leeches have started to steal content from big corporations, but it's definitely not something new! Let's not forget how much content they have stolen from countless RUclipsrs while banking in on subs and tips with no shoutout or anything in those lines. I'm not one that wishes bad things on people, but these leeches will not stop for anything if it means they can profit off it, even if it's taking money from people who barely got anything, with scamming viewers and manipulating them with their subathons, gambling, stealing music and rebroadcasting it, glad they are getting what's coming for them.
Unfortunately, "ALL" reaction content is copyright infringement, always has been. It just tends to fall under the radar when a geoblock is involved (such as streaming anime from Japan that hasn't been licensed in English, such as content produced by BBC (UK) or CBC(Canada.)) The only reason it falls under the radar at all is because "US" versions have not been licensed, so there is technically no violation. But since Twitch is available in Canada, UK and Japan, it's still a violation under their respective home country laws. But in general? I can list off a dozen different things on Twitch that are copyright infringement, that may or may not be relevant: - People watching Gordon Ramsey content - People watching Bar Rescue - People playing their music collection on stream - People playing video games* - People playing video games that they don't own** (eg pirated games, or emulators with pirated games, such as modified NES/SNES mini's and flash carts UI's being present) * Twitch was designed for streaming games, generally intended to be MMO games, but most game developers and publishers have been in a cold war with streamers. ** You can legally play stuff you rip yourself, but it's certainly a copyright infringement to play a modified game. Nintendo is more likely to drop a DMCA bomb on people playing modified Mario/Zelda/Pokemon games. Most other publishers? I haven't heard of any.
The way some top streamers have reacted to the banning is very damning. Even if they don’t want to, top streamers represent the website as a whole to brands and their actions can adversely effect smaller streamers (often times even more than themselves). Poking the hornets nest is a recipe for disaster and it’s honestly disappointing that nothing was learned from the past dmca vod issues. Although they are unlikely to face criminal charges because they are very difficult to prove compared to civil suits, the streamers would be completely foolish to try a civil suit instead of settling. I think youre 100% right about them working on suing twitch or the streamers, with tens to hundreds of thousands of people viewing these broadcasts there is a lot of money involved and fox network knows the streamers and amazon have lots and lots of money. Great video, this stuff had to be said this is ultimately going to be a reality check moment for twitch itself. If this continues, eventually these slap on the wrist warning punishments from twitch are going to get much worse real quick.
I was wondering when you were going to make a video about this. Like I get that in general DMCA has been used by Big Companies to squeeze money out of creators because of little things that should fall under fair use, but in this case I don't have one ounce of sympathy for the streamers who are outright watching FULL EPISODES of copyrighted shows on stream. This is the kind of scumming behavior that leads to a Adpocalypse
Same category as music. music doesn't follow under fair use it's no different than the movies they both shouldn't happen. The point is that everybody is watching counts as a view and if you make money while other people's content is playing to viewers then you can get in trouble. The more viewers you have the worst case it will be. You can watch or listen to it yourself but you don't have the right to read broadcast it to others.
@@digitaltactics9234 When I want to listen to a song, I’m not gonna look up that one time some streamer played it while they were yelling all over it and getting bodied in a video game. If anything, I might hear a new song I like while on stream and then look it up myself afterwards. Not to mention that people don’t usually think “wow, great song, but now I’ve heard it once I’ll never have to listen to it again.” People repeat music, it doesn’t lose any value on the second watch. On the flipside, people DO say that about television or movies. Unless you really loved it the first time, once you’ve watched it it’s lost value to you. And, going back to what I was saying before, music is used for the *background* on streams. It will never be the focus of the content, that will always be the stream or the game, whereas with TV and movies the focus is on them with the streamer being secondary. I’m not saying, necessarily, that playing copyrighted music on streams should always be fine. But these are just a couple reasons why I think there is a huge world of difference between playing music on streams and “””reacting””” to copyrighted shows and movies.
I do hope some burn for this, solely for the reason that they can potentially bring the platform as a whole down in a worse case scenario and affect everyone else with it. It's just baffling how stupid you have to be to do this.

Different situations, the adpocalypse on RUclips was a result of big companies like Pepsi and coke having their ads played on shit like isis beheading videos that weaseled their way onto the site or very anti-advertiser videos, RUclips's very lax nature with cracking down on hateful content and harmful content brought the adpocalypse initially, perpetuated by drama happening at the time too. Twitch has more of a grip, not a good one with people constantly dodging bans and punishments because they're large streams but they won't suffer any kind of adpocalypse the same way youtube did, if anything dmca might get worse

"The website has to show reasonable effort to remove copyright protected material..." - tbh: Twitch doesn't give a f*** about copyright claims, if just reported via their tools/reported directly submitted to their support. They only react if sent by a lawyer. I have to file - meanwhile - dozens copyright claims per week on behalf of clients. Twitch NEVER reacts, unless a lawyer threatens to sue them. That's why so many streamer think it's ok to do so. Btw.: The violators get sued anyway, no matter what Twitch does.
I was wondering about this ! This was not the answer I was expecting I would have thought they had some special permission to stream it ! Thanks for the video !
recently cancelled my twitch affiliate to multi stream, doing so, has made me create my own genuine content and has helped me avoid using artists music or using other peoples content. So i took your advice to multi stream on twitch, thanks for the great advice Devin Nash. The streaming movies and anime has become impossible because im multi streaming.
The top streamers feel that they have power because they have money, a common mentality in people and society in general. It does not help that society reinforces this, i.e you get treated better with money than without. Streamers doing media is not that uncommon, vtubers do it but here is how they do it: They ask the chat to watch along with them and stream their reactions to the media. No drama, no problem. So it's not like streamers are idiots, they just don't care with the mentality I stated before.
I'm not super well versed in it, but doesn't safe harbor only apply if the site was unaware of the infringement at the time the takedown was filed? There isn't really any plausible deniability when xqc, poki, Hasan, etc are the infringers.
Maybe the endgame is for creators under contract to force Twitch to ban them from the site and cancel their contract. Wonder where they'd all go then...
Thank you so much for always giving us the breakdown Devon. I admire you spreading truth and looking out for the platform as a while although you are not on there anymore you still care enough to let us know what’s up. That’s respectable. I’m an avid user of Twitch It’s truly sad to see this. I’m someone that is on Twitch most of the day. Seeing the bigger streamers doing this, majority of it I see it’s insane. If i were that person i wouldn’t even risk it. Count your blessings and remember it’s your job and there’s rules. Take care
Great video. I totally agree with you, Devin. I always found it weird that streamers, top streamers even, would watch actual television shows on stream. Unfortunately, most streamers aren't very smart, and most are just followers doing what "everyone else" is doing to bring in the most viewers. If these streamers had any real business sense, they wouldn't be putting their business at risk unnecessarily.
The thing that sucks is that Twitch and these movie and music studios don't offer ANY options to stream the content while also paying the creators. These top streamers WOULD do some type of revenue split if they could. Maybe charge $5 for people to watch the stream while they are watching a movie etc. But nobody is giving them that option. And it would benefit everyone.
It's all only a matter of time now. These streamers don't seem to understand just how powerful the companies that hold copyrights are. They have teams of lawyers that probably are watching these streams right now, collecting evidence. Every KEKW is being recorded into a court document. And the streamers are stupid enough to directly admit that they know they are breaking copyright laws. They're not just poking the bear, they've lathered themselves up with honey and are whispering about picnic baskets in the bear's ear. And I won't have a shred of sympathy for any of them when the hammer comes down.
I 100% agree they were building a case, I popped into Pokiman's stream for a couple of seconds I was asking how is this legal? I wonder how her Canadian citizenship will play in as the copyright laws are quite different up here. Not sure if she is a US resident or on a 6-month visitor visa, that she keeps on cycling, which could change them wanting to go after her versus another streamer.

This situation and potential ramifications for Twitch itself opens them up to being exposed by competitors making these companies aware in order to knock them out of the streaming wars.
I'm glad someone like you said this! I hate seeing these react videos and watch a show together streams. It just feels like streamers got lazy and want to collect an easy paycheck.
I think early on in my streamer support efforts, one of the biggest frustrations I had, was how thick headed people were about DMCA advice/issues. They would get down right indignant and hostile if you suggested they should consider playing it safe for the good of their own business.....
I love how Justin TV started out as just channels streaming shows and movies 24/7 and it was amazing, I got hooked on a lot of shows and saw movies that I otherwise wouldnt have, however it was 100% pirating and evading copyright for the streamers to do so. Justin TV rebranded and made Twitch and said "gaming only content" and now we are back full circle with streams just watching pirated content.
I’m glad you made this video! Twitch doesn’t give to flying f*ck about any of this stuff. If they did they would address this and all the other stuff that happens on the site. I left twitch a year ago because of all the BS. Switched to RUclips and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
@@isaacschein9806 yeah they are more react to highlights or short form content not full length movies. RUclips does a better job at preventing copyright claims. You were the last bastion of any kind of educational//non-braindead content on twitch but I respect your choice to dip and stick with YT. Always look forward to your videos.
And the react to this video by a lot streamers will be, "These are antiquated laws that aren't fair, the boomers just don't understand the younger generation, and/or Devin's just another jealous streamer that didn't get in on the meta." The fact is, it doesn't matter that DMCA law sucks/is old, it's currently what's in the books and if it gets enforced streamers might get hit hard. I hope it doesn't, I enjoy watching a lot of streamers when they aren't doing their reacts. But, the reality is that streamers have been doing this kind of stuff for a lot longer than when it was recently dubbed "the meta". Plenty of streamers will have a stations logo removed or covered/replaced by their own logo a day or so before they react to the content to get around DMCA. A lot of these game shows are so similar to network shows of the past that they could be considered rip offs. You can only stay niche so long and not have it noticed. Now that big streamer audiences are pushing 50k+ when they do this, it seems like it's only a matter of time before something eventually happens. Hell, streamers have even been in contact with show hosts recently on twitter, which you would think would only shine a bigger spot light for the networks. Some streamers behind these gameshows have said on stream that they're game is just like an old broadcasted one but it doesn't matter because "Who is going to know?". But hey who asked am I right? - Just another armchair Andy

Well said Devin! It makes me sad to see this kind of content and the risks people have been taking with not just their own livelihood but the rest of the website. As always your words ring true!
This is just mind-blowing that anyone believed that would be fine to do, and regarding music, there is people also claiming that they are doing dmca free music, when in fact are blatantly lying, if you are making money out of it, is not copyright free music, is just you are not using your right to strike the people using it, while you gain benefit...
Great video, I really liked when you spoke from the heart, I've seen smaller streamers do tv-shows and I feel exactly the same way. Hopefully enough will heed your words and stop this idiocy
Hey guys imma be honest I am not that well known of the copyright stuff and I always use non-copyrighted things but I wonder how or why do some youtube videos are like a complete playlists of music and it's okay to do that? Is it because they don't take revenue of of these videos?
So I may be clueless like my name but copyright can even be turned over to FBI for investigation as well correct? As the copyright warning on movies and shows says penalties for unauthorized reproduction, distribution or exhibition of copyrighted material can be investigated by FBI and bring federal charges against these content creators? Sounds like to me they could even be federally prosecuted. But they seem to think they are so big it doesn't pertain to them? I will sit back with my popcorn and watch the shit show unravel then.
What are WRONG with these top streamers attempting this?! Holy sh*t sadly Devin many of them think they are untouchable and they only way they’ll learn is if they are taken down or Amazon sadly pulls the plug 🔌 on Twitch all together
Personally I think the internet should be free and we all should be immune to any kind of copyright, fuck the system. Not even gonna get into it any further.
At some point, the same ban hammer will drop on the multitude of Movie Recaps channel on RUclips. Which are essentially giving away the Too Long Didn't Watch of movie studios for free.
I remember a long time ago Devin saying even DMCA free music was risky because that status could change. I'd personally look into the issue far deeper before trying it and lean on not taking such a risk.

Hey Devin, huge fan of yours. Was curious if you foresee the studios partnering with the top streamers ? Lawsuits would be more profitable for the studios in the now, but in the long term wouldn't they make more if they could monetize the ___ reacts audiences ? Thanks bro, appreciate you and the content. This is probably a dumb question lol
I mean yes they are getting a lot of viewers but how many of them would actually go out and pay for X Streaming service to watch the show again? When they can literally just watch X streamer and watch it all for free. It's like with a game. I can watch a streamer play a game and it'll encourage me to try it out because my experience with it will be different than the streamers. Whereas with a movie/show/whenever you watch it and thats pretty much it. Like you can't watch Lord of the Rings and expect something different to happen on the 2 or 3 time watching it.
react content is not content creation. Straight up. Respect for content creators has nothing to do with it, these people aren't creating content, they are stealing it.
Actually disappointed by the fact that when I went to StreemTunes, it wasn't music from less popular artists looking for a marketing buzz. Artists not on labels could pay like 1-2k a piece to get a song onto the playlist and gain exposure as well as $ from Spotify plays.
What's the formal name of business relations between Twtich and Amazon? Doesn't that relation will affect on how the lawsuits or even responses to violations are going to be played out?

Thank fucking god someone finally said something. I went to college and learned copyright law in school and have been blow away that people are raking in hundreds of thousands of dollars a month literally stealing content live
if it's a streamer, yes, individually, no it's not a problem. If you're watching a movie or a tv show on a free streaming website individually, no harm is done
hey man i like your videos
it's sad how so many twitch streamers are out of touch with copyright law and actually think it's okay to restream movies, music, and tv shows, someone needs to tell them that using a webcam overlay is not transformative and the only reason it works for gaming is that most game developers already have video sharing policies in place that states they can use that content legally on social media and content sharing websites.
It's not a ban if it only causes you to restart your stream. That's just stopping the content to prevent a ban.
@@HH-le1vi it’s because lud calls it a ban for clickbait, so other people started calling it that too.
I honestly thought they had licensing or it was a collaboration when this trend started. It's just so absurd that they're doing it illegally.
the sad thing is that it probably wouldn't even be *that* hard to get a sponsor/license to watch some older shows or shows from smaller networks that could benefit from streamers watching one season and getting people hooked.
Who hasn't pirated or watched a movie on a free streaming website, we all did
@@JaB9999 The difference is we didn’t use pirated content to make millions of dollars.
@@JaB9999 Yeah, in all seriousness, I think there's a very big difference between you privately watching some privated content and you *making money off* watching pirated content AND distributing it at the same time... and I'm pretty certain the lawyers will agree.

LUL
That's Disney owned, you don't fuck with Disney
After this whole DMCA music fiasco, I’m shocked streamers are now poking the movie industry bear now lmao
And then when it all goes south they'll play the victim card again.
Yeah it's pretty nuts
I wish twitch would just do that already so these streamers could actually start producing their own content instead of just slapping their face on someone else's 😂😂 it's really lame
well poki just got banned for doing that, so theres that

@@TheOne13337 I can't even join twitch prime in my country so there's that
It's funny you mention the sports broadcasting because I remember watching Justin TV to view blacked out hockey games (That's actually how I found out about streaming) and they would usually get taken down mid broadcast or whatever. It's totally insane that we are basically back here again as Twitch!
THANK YOU for calling this out
Yo. Huge fan. Your how to talk to chat video started my stream journey back in the day. Much love.
The streamers taking advantage of this are going to ruin the platform for a lot of people. There will be no more going to RUclips and watching a 30 second clip of a meme pulled from a movie anymore. These companies are going to start caring more and it's only a matter of time.
Twitch streamers getting sued for millions and the website potentially burning to the ground? sounds like music to my ears
I didn't think about this angle. Maybe that explains the poor-effort streams lately
@@eladriladri well streamers that have left for youtube recently cited that they dont have to stream as much hours on youtube for the contract youtube gave them. Dont get me wrong money is a big factor but less time to make that same money is also there.
In the fine print, "*Repeat Infringer Policy doesn't apply to streamers with concurrent viewership above 3,000."
Train is truly a pioneer. After the big streamers stop restreaming copyrighted content, i'm sure they will move on to scam crypto gambling.
The scam part is redundant, everyone knows all gambling is a scam. It's why they call it gambling. You'll end up broke eventually
Like his gambling streams.)
But shaming people that react to shows or movies, because people enjoy watching others share passion/excitement for the things they’re passionate about is the opposite of based.
Great video. I've hated this meta since it started. Always felt a little weird. Ppl have to actually create content again! Going to be weird!
Plenty of spanish streamers have been doing this for years and they rarely get banned, there's a ton of streamers who watch movies and anime on Just Chatting category.
This is a great video, but kind of scary. What I don't the most is how when someone in chat tries to warn the streamers in chat they get called a snitch, laughed at, and then banned
ogg nooo, the "drama streamers" are going to get banned oooh nooo
fkkk them, they only Gossip, Play the Socialist, Lick mics and watch RUclips, who cares. Let them burn.
The disrespect being shown to viewers over this is very disheartening, especially over such serious consequences
I wanna see a list showing who shit on Train vs who's doing it now.
Edit: This would descend into drama pretty quick...so maybe scratch that.
this is really getting out of hand and am terrified on what is gonna happen in the future
Completely mind-boggling how after low volume background music for a few seconds brought people down they think *this* is alright to do now. And no amount of money they could get with that could possibly outweigh the certain doom of bans and lawsuits incoming. It is nothing but brainless.

I recieved a DMCA strike on Twitch from a clip of a song I played for maybe 45 seconds.
I can list off a dozen different things on Twitch that are copyright infringement, that may or may not be relevant:
- People watching Gordon Ramsey content
- People watching Bar Rescue
- People playing their music collection on stream
- People playing video games*
- People playing video games that they don't own** (eg pirated games, or emulators with pirated games, such as modified NES/SNES mini's and flash carts UI's being present)
* Twitch was designed for streaming games, generally intended to be MMO games, but most game developers and publishers have been in a cold war with streamers.

I feel like this will lead to adpocalypse on Twitch, like RUclips had years ago
Different situations, the adpocalypse on RUclips was a result of big companies like Pepsi and coke having their ads played on shit like isis beheading videos that weaseled their way onto the site or very anti-advertiser videos, RUclips's very lax nature with cracking down on hateful content and harmful content brought the adpocalypse initially, perpetuated by drama happening at the time too. Twitch has more of a grip, not a good one with people constantly dodging bans and punishments because they're large streams but they won't suffer any kind of adpocalypse the same way youtube did, if anything dmca might get worse
@@Powdered__Donut yeah from my personal experience DMCA seems more relaxed on Twitch at the moment, though I'm not sure how livestreams can be proactively checked for copyrighted material which just isn't music.

I know Twitch knows it’s bad, but doesn’t do anything to stop it or enforce Tos.
But I’d really like to see something happen. I want to see these companies take on Twitch and streamers. I don’t like this meta it’s just plain lazy, and I don’t even like it when they use RUclips as their content
because twitch themselfs is profiting off it, thats why they dont do anything about, twitch is equally guilty as the streamers doing it.

So i took your advice to multi stream on twitch, thanks for the great advice Devin Nash. The streaming movies and anime has become impossible because im multi streaming.
I remember someone saying some big streamers would be leaving Twitch for that new "car", could that be how they chose to switch cars? 🤔
Take care
I can't even post a reaction video on RUclips that is blurred to oblivion 🤦🏾♂️ what makes them think they can do this?
So if your small time with no strike just have fun till you get a strike right? 🤔
A Streamer literally moving to upload certain content like gambling and such is not unheard like atm X is goin to canada for better internet but X Has never had any problem with master chef so he isn in trouble

I'm glad someone like you said this! I hate seeing these react videos and watch a show together streams. It just feels like streamers got lazy and want to collect an easy paycheck.
Right now in the Always On category, there’s people watching all the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

This is crazy. How does it not cross their mind that they can be in some serious trouble doing this.

Hmm if only we didn't have a just chatting section where people can go to do whatever they want.
Reggaeton playlist: CHECK
Beats go hard: CHECK
DMCA free: CHECK
LFG StreemTunes
I remember a long time ago Devin saying even DMCA free music was risky because that status could change. I'd personally look into the issue far deeper before trying it and lean on not taking such a risk.
Any ideas on Twitch permanent ban for not violating any rules at all? I just got permanent ban on Twitch cause they accused me of using bot to spread virus or ad links which I didn't do. Any thoughts on this ?
Ya when streamers started watching shows with 30k 50k viewers i was honestly shocked and had to laugh at how stupid they are.
Thank you!!!! I truly hope that your words reach the ears of the offenders. It's LAZY content creation, we need to be harsh on this. I don't make millions every month, some of these content creators would be "okay" financially if Twitch went down, but millions of other content creator won't be, they're not just risking their careers, their risking everyone's
Happy new year man hope all is well.
Yeah I have absolutely no idea how they could think they could just ignore the legal system like this. It's not a joke. They can destroy lives.
19:20 TBF twitch has been too greedy with the ADSPAM lately sooooooo.... IDRC
PREACH!!! Say it louder for the people in the back!!!!
Isn't there that "Watch Party" thing on Twitch?
It's fucking WILD that people were still doing this. I only watched illegal pay-per-view wrestling streams because I couldn't afford it.
Hey Devin, huge fan of yours. Was curious if you foresee the studios partnering with the top streamers ? They are getting views of their product to thousands of viewers so it would be in their benefit right ?
Great coverage on this
This is going to go from 0-100 real quick domino effect in play
What's the formal name of business relations between Twtich and Amazon? Doesn't that relation will affect on how the lawsuits or even responses to violations are going to be played out?
An incredible video Dev! So many clippable moments.
