Why Was Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 SO MEDIOCRE?!

- Black Ops 3 was the 2nd game made within the "advanced mobility" sub-genre of COD games. It was also the 2nd game under the 3-year development cycle. But despite the extra time and all the great COD games before it, Black Ops 3 would turn out to be anything but awesome.....

I respect his views on the multiplayer but the Zombies...c´mon.
Black Ops 3 Zombies is exactly the opposite of mediocrity.
Its crazy how he thinks he knows whats right for zombies even though he wont sink time into learning the maps and easter eggs. Does he really think people would still play zombies if it was as braindead as getting perks getting guns then killing zombies for an hour?
@@thecandyman9957 yes, thats why chronicles outsold the dlcs 😂 and why do you think they made it so simple and easy in cold war? Because bo4 was “too hard” for everyone so they gave up. Even tho that game is probably the easiest aside from cold war. I love doing easter eggs, and love the zombies story. I have since bo1, but imo bo1, 2 and 4 have a lot more fun maps and ways to play compared to bo3. Bo3 story was alright, but it ended worse than bo4
@@thecandyman9957 There's a divide in the community between people who want a fun survival side mode and people who want to learn the all the steps to all the quests on every map. If you want casual fun you don't want to have to learn all the shit required to get the weapons the map is designed around.
If they do make future quest maps it would be better if it didn't require **every** player to know what they were doing and also try to make things intuative rather than requiring a guide.
If you spend extra money, then it’s the opposite of mediocrity
@@thecandyman9957 he grew to like that kind of zombies as he stated in his revisiting cod ww2 video.
It surprised me how he said he likes origins in chronicles but he’s shitting on shadows calling it complicated. Dude, they’re like the same thing pretty much. I’d argue the apothican servant is easier to build than the staffs.
it is really:kill a margwa kill a meatball open a purple pod they u have 1 of the best wonder weapons ever in all of zombies
To be fair. You don’t need the staffs for pack-a-punch. Turning power on is clear on the map and you can get away without a guide the first time you play it. Good luck doing that with Shadows of Evil.
@@loganolson3968what are you on? You don't need AS to get to the pack a punch either, and unless you have 0 curiosity, turning the power on is pretty straight forward as well in SoE, you don't need no guides on any map unless you're going for EEs
@@loganolson3968 you shouldn't need a guide for soe after the first time ever unless you're doing the ee

BO1: Greatest Campaign
BO2: Greatest Multiplayer
BO3: Greatest Zombies
BO4: Greatest Disappointment
that’s big facts honestly
Bo2 multiplayer was mad
agreed with this list, but I thought black ops 2 had a better campaign. I liked the multiplayer in bo1 more than bo2, but thats just my opinion. I didnt really like the maps in black ops 2.
You could say bo4 had the best battle royale mainly because it was the only game which had it
HappyLongNose battle royale isn’t good to begin with
Graphically this game is still ahead of it's time. The detail and colors in the maps are amazing
you mean stylistically then
@@leenguyen6056 idk I think it looks much better than some of the newer cods especially trash vanguard. Like I said though I think its the colors and detail of bo3 that make it stand out to people. It definitely felt next gen af when bo3 released compared to ghost and many other titles at that time and even now.
@@cdhall1849 The colours has nothing to do with the graphics. If you truly believe bo3 has better graphics than Vanguard then you’re biased and delusional since vanguard objectively has better graphics.
@@leenguyen6056 lol I'm not biased it's just a opinion. Vanguard is truly hated to begin with and graphics is one of the 10,000 problems with it. I just dont agree considering b03 and b04 are 4 years apart and they look the exact same to most people lol. And b04 was released right before mw19. And lighting and coloring are apart of graphics.
@@cdhall1849 How is it an opinion if it’s objectively not true? Any aspect which affects the graphical outcome is superior with Vanguard. You may be speaking of the artstyle (which seem to childlike and boring to me tbh) which is subjective. The graphics however are not
Me being a hardcore zombies fan I never thought how casual people would think of the more complex maps. Because for me I can do all of shadows without even thinking. Same with der eisendrache and origins. Which is also weird to think about how you probably didnt even get the elemental bows on der eisndrache. All im saying is I agree with you on a casual perspective but as a hardcore player bo3 is my favorite zombies gamemode
Yeah but also a lot of these complaints are kinda dumb and i dont think hes really played a lot of the map, saying SOE doesnt have enough stuff to bring him back while having probably the most content packed into a zombies map, and saying theres nowhere to camp but all of the teleporters are some of the best places in the entire series to camp in
He’s being very over dramatic about how complicated bo3 is.
Bo3 is the golden age of zombies and is the best for casual and hardcore players. They have maps where hadcore players can go all out like DE, SoE and Origins but still have plenty of casual maps like Der Riese, Kino, and all of the other WaW maps. If they just did a Cronicles 2 and brought over all of the other Bo2 maps I would never have to think about any other zombies game again.

The multiplayer is a lot more skilled than boots on the ground in my opinion. The amount of ways you could approach an area of the map with the increased maneuverability meant that you can actually counter people holding an angle while headglitching. While airborne you are harder to hit and it is harder to hit others meaning better aim is required. Camping was just a lot less viable in this game. The specialists also added a fun new element to the multiplayer.
Agreed 100%. This is the 1st COD game I actually felt connected to the different characters and their factions. Not just a generic army guy. And the ability to run up on campers and take their advantage away was pure bliss.
By the way if you like BO3 movement you should try titanfall 2 it has a similar movement but more extreme
Ur not wrong but I love the shooting and movement in WW2. Feels like the og classics like bo2. But I do love bo3 aswell, both take a lot of skill honestly

the kind of quests you had to do in maps like shadows are what made it so much fun for me. sure, it could be a bit more direct in telling you how to unlock PaP and such, but i found it to be really fun. as for the zombies keeping you on your feet at all times, i think the extra hit you can take and being able to reload while sprinting helped with this. the game encourages you to move more. the dlc maps were an absolute blast, with gorod and der eisendrache being two of my absolute favorite maps.
This was made 5 years ago when shadows of evil still wasn’t as appreciated as it is today, shadows of evil for some people is arguably the greatest zombies map if not in top 5 of all time, the theme, the music, the size of the map, the buildables, apothicans servant, and the Easter egg is not as hard as everyone makes it to be, this map has had such a big impact on zombies that it will be remembered for years and years to come, shadows of evil was a masterpiece.
Also gobblegums we’re greatest addition to zombies, giving less good players a push forward and makes things a little easier and if you don’t like the gobblegum guess what you don’t have to pay for them to have a good time in prestige 9 and still find myself using classic gobblegums some games.
@@aidankolb2583great take was literally baffled the whole time I was hearing him talk about zombies
Idk how tf he found shadows of evil hard. ITS LITERALLY an easier version of mob of the dead. When ur in beast form icons pop all over ur fucking screen telling u where to go and hit as well lol. I feel like he loaded into the map, ran around for 10 rounds, then quit cus he didnt bother to actually "play" the map.
The map has an intuitive way of guiding u to each location and fully unlocking an area as soon as u spawn into the map. I'd understand his pain if unlocking pack a punch was the equivalent of trying to upgrade origins staffs where u need an online guide just to know wtf to do.

Just learn where the zombies come from. There are camping spots on shadows too, on top of the ruby rabbit and keeping the water front door closed and be infront of it so you're in that disctrict. Saying shadows is bad because you cant camp is dumb. On some maps, like shi no numa, you cant camp. On other maps, like buried, you can only camp. On some maps, you cant train, like buried. On other maps, like ascension, you can only train. Not being able to camp/train or only being able to camp/train doesnt make a map bad. Also, who says gobblegums were bad? BO3 should have played in the wake of Raul Menendez’s prison break and the murder of Woods, then you hunt down Raul against the authority of the US and the military for personal revenge and throughout the story, you begin to make harder and harder decisions while putting others at risk. My personal favorite of the entire series. I really like Shadows of Evil and all the mysteries in it. Shadows has so much content it's actually insane that it's a non-DLC map, but that's the issue, it's not DLC. I feel Shadows is a great zombies map for real zombie's fans but not for casual players. Same goes for Origins in zombie chronicles, it's too Easter egg driven to be played casually. They have too many moving parts that can't really be learnt without looking it up. I really like all the maps in BO3 zombies, and I played them years after newer COD games came out.

i’m 22 and I absolutely loved this game when it came out. i got to 6th prestige in MW3, 7th in black ops 2, skipped ghosts and advanced warfare bc i thought i was done with the series as a whole. i thought it was gonna be dead within 5 years lol how naive i was. but when black ops 3 came out i had to get it bc i was a hardcore zombie fan. i got it expecting the multiplayer to be absolutely garbage but i actually played until master prestige, and enjoyed it quite a bit. i think your criticisms are valid, and playing it nowadays isn’t the same, it’ll always hold a lot of sentimental value with all the fun i had with it with friends.
Campaign- honestly I don’t get it so bad
Multiplayer- decent
Zombies- Jesus level
Agreed act man apparently has been asleep the past 8 years 9f zombies evolution lol
Multiplayer - the best of the jet pack games (AW, BO3 and IW)
Zombies - it entirely depends on what *YOU* like
Yeah shadow of evil was the best zombie map I played because it had everything I wanted in it a small story a semi boss fight like the three handed thing good zombie good map and I played it over 50 hour with my friends and we never got bord of it
Black Ops 3 objectively had the best zombies in the franchise. They had literally everything. Good mechanics, 3 hit down no jug finally, and maps both for the people hungering for complex stories and easter eggs, and remastered versions of all the original zombies maps that were perfect for hardcore fans and casuals who just want to load in and shoot zombies without a bunch of stuff to worry about.
@@MeruOnYT Black Ops 3 zombies is definitely a solid advancement for those who have been long time hardcore fans of the series. But I think I can understand where Act Man comes from, he took a break from the series for a while and probably didn't keep up or consistently play zombies as extensively as others. So he didn't feel like zombies needed to evolve as much as it did to him.
But for new players, I don't think Shadows of Evil was a good map to choose as the default one for gameplay purposes. Should have had a simple basic map and a more advanced one.
Black ops 1: Best campaign
Black ops 2: Best multiplayer
Black ops 3: Best zombies

Yea, luckily, he has said recently that he's grown to enjoy the current style of zombies, including bo3
Act man has gotta be beyond the most casual call of duty player and here he is giving everyone a lecture on what’s good and bad. I love most of his vids but his review on black ops 3 is actually hilarious due to how bad its is 😂
Black Ops 1 has Good setup for future story .
Black Ops 2 has absolutely awesome and refreshing game play and a dope follow up Story

The realistic difficulty on the campaign makes ya really utilize those abilities. I didn’t even realize you can go invisible but when you doing 2 players and you got to Rez em you pop the camo and get them. Also hacking the robots really is helpful as well they can take more then 1 shot.
I love Act Man, don't get me wrong, but damn he's a CASUAL when it comes to zombies.
Mush for real bro like how can u not like shadows
@@PaulisInclusion "iTs ToO cOmPlIcAtEd
ImLosingMySanity It can get tedious at times but its pretty good
@@PaulisInclusion His points are valid though. You can't play Shadows without doing all the objectives and it's not for people who just want to hop into zombies and have fun. This wouldn't be a problem if there was just one or two other maps that were like that that you didn't have to purchase, but Shadows is all you get. If you compare Bo3 to WaW, Bo1, and Bo2, you can see how zombies overtime has changed from a fun arcade mode to one long fetch quest. And if you like that sort of thing, good for you. You're gonna love Bo3, but to those who don't, you're kind of shit out of luck.
None of the "easter egg" quests are fun to do, none of the steps make sense, and figuring it out on your own is just impossible. I agree 100% with him, the only "easter eggs" that were any fun (and actual easter eggs) were the ones in Der Riese way back in 2009. Oh you don't know how many 360 no scopes you need to do while standing on this specific pixel? Well that's too bad here just run around in a circle for 30 minutes with the last zombie, that sure is fun.

6:43 To defend this scene a little, it is pretty clever foreshadowing. The Rachel they are talking about is Kane, the girl whom the Player later teams up with and falls in love with at the end. It is a hint towards the fact that you are replaying Taylor’s memories.
I honestly think this is one of the best CoD games to this day. It's not as over the top as something like Advanced Warfare, and while it certainly has its flaws, there was so much they managed to do right. I was gripped the entire lifetime of BO3, and even for a while after it stopped getting support, I still enjoyed what it had to offer.
I like how he said the best maps were the simple maps and then listed orgins.
I still find origins way fucking harder then any of the BO3 maps
@@adriansrsa90 I mean, barricades help but alright.
Dutch Van Der Linde with the zombies on bo3 especially on gorod. That shit doesn’t help past round 5 and you don’t even really need them then.
He didn’t mention them together, he was just listing the remasters available
Dutch Van Der Linde barricades are so useless that even the characters have quotes saying how useless barricades are
We can’t deny how great and fun the zombies was on black ops 3 I never had so much fun playing zombies than in Black Ops 3

I adore the zombies on this game, my personal favorite of the entire series. I really like Shadows of Evil and all the mysteries in it. Shadows has so much content it's actually insane that it's a non-DLC map, but that's the issue, it's not DLC. I feel Shadows is a great zombies map for real zombies fans but not for casual players. Same goes for Origins in zombie chronicles, it's too Easter egg driven to be played casually. They have too many moving parts that can't really be learnt without looking it up. I really like all the maps in BO3 zombies and I played them years after newer COD games came out.
This comment was underrated for the paragraph you wrote, i cant comment on bo3(because i never played it), but you have good points :)
I love the setting
Shadows of evil is fun when you know what to do i tried it again and was so lost and died tryna figure out what to do again
Its gets even better with custom zombies
The alien tentacle stuff really didnt do it for me. And kinda egotisical to say "REAL zombie fans"
Shadows just doesn't blend well with whats established. From a veteran point of view
Shadows is one of my fav maps and I’m a casual zombies player
Origins is mine and I’m casual.
I like most maps even if they’re complicated
I like der eisendrache
It's a good map but far away from the maps of WaW in my opinion. This is zombie, not alien x zombie.
@@TheShark94700 got a fair point the alien tentacles monsters are probably the worst part
Its crazy looking back on this video to be honest. No way did he call shadows tedious, like did bro want a flat zombie maps where all the perks and pack a punch were infront of you at spawn and you have 1,000,000 points instantly

Take it back this game was goated
I tried playing it again, and had no patience with the slow cutscenes and boring gameplay. I uninstalled it a day after installing it. The multiplayer is a cringy joke. It's Titanfall but with no dynamic movement or freedom to explore the environment.
Campaign was bad
Multiplayer was great for me, it could be nostalgia since it was the first cod I played where decided to play the multiplayer.
But zombies… it was the best goddamn zombies experience we ever got in the history of call of duty. The additional mods and custom maps on PC just makes it even more better. God bless BO3.
And I understand how act man didn’t really like zombies in bo3 which I get, because casual zombies players only have 1 goal in mind, get a gun, pack-a-punch, and killing zombies.
But when you are a fan of zombies and you take the time to learn the maps and what you can do in these maps, like for example in Der Eisendrache you can:
Get the bow by feeding all dragons
Upgrade the bow to the electricity, fire, wolf or void bow for even better results
You can do the Easter egg which is fairly easy on DE compared to other maps
It’s just so much fun when you know what to do. It’s the same concept as solving a Rubik’s cube. When you have no idea how to solve the Rubik’s you can sit there for maybe 5 minutes just moving it a bunch of times and then you’re bored. But if you learn/know how to solve it you’ll sit there for much longer trying to solve it faster or learning new algorithms to solve it.
So if you’re willing to, try learning the zombie maps. If you’re not willing to, then no worries, there’s a bunch of other good games out there :)

Bo2 has some really good maps, but has some weak points. Bo3 has more good maps
@@harrishunt4545 you have opinion I respect but I liked bo2 more than both mainly because in bo3 it was a complicated you had to set up gobblegum and same for nazi zombies in for ww2 too complicated bo4 was ok I never got into it or played enough to criticize it but it had more things to make it a bit more complicated first time I played and didn't really understand it but I didn't play enough to criticize alot of it. @@Tap2Shoot bo2 zombies is also complicated. Mob is just as complicated as shadows. Most of the bo2 maps are complicated. Bo3 is roughly the same.
Personally, Shadows of Evil was my first zombies experience and I absolutely loved it.
It wasn’t my first but it’s my tied favourite with mob of the dead and origins
It was a great map, but it was very complicated for a launch map. (Which I personally liked playing zombies for a long time)
Dynasty987 in pretty sure you have to have played it a lot to start liking it, I didn’t like it at first but it’s my second favorite map of all time
Big Penis Five, Shangri la and Verrückt make Shadows look like the easiest map ever
Ok Great True, however, for those new to Zombies starting out on Shadows it would seem very complex, me personally started in late WaW so for those people who played a long time shadows would seem easier. To summarize my point was simply that newcomers to Zombies would see Shadows as a hard map.
People defending this campaign, obviously never played the older ones. He makes a great point, you're playing a video game; would you like to experience the turmoil, or be told about it half-ass in a 2 min cut scene
