- Yes, Genesis has released the Genesis G70 Shooting Brake last year in some European countries. But it has been released recently in Korea, why so late? Well, that’s because the wagons or shooting brakes just do not sell as well in Korea. And when I talked to the Genesis spokeswomen, she told me, yes, the shooting brake was made with the European market in mind, but it was just made for European market. So, here we are today, test driving the 2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake, so let’s go for a quick spin and see what the shooting brake, estate or wagon feels like.

@@christianmbabazi9722 No...wagons do not sell here in the US because of the appetite for SUVs/CUVs. It's unfortunate. Every now and then a manufacturer will try, but no go. You can still get a Volvo wagon here, and Audi has a couple, and Mercedes, but these are all very niche vehicles. A couple are performance based while the others are considered all terrain or a luxury wagon. Most of them are well north of $60k. In reality, these are much safer than an SUV because of a lower center of gravity. It is inevitable to see SUVs that have flipped in accidents. People have a false sense of security while driving them.
Would buy this in a second if it came to the US!

I used to drive a Volvo 850 wagon and I really like the Audi wagon but the Genesis is
Way more affordable!
Also they handle better than most SUV’s and is low enough to install a roof capsule and perhaps get better gas mileage as well.

I most definitely prefer the shooting brake to the sedan. It looks nicer too.
One reason I may pick an SUV over a wagon is because I live in Nigeria and the country is riddled with bad roads. The GV70 for example has better ground clearance which helps with the tackling of the bad roads compared to the low sitting G70.
Oh, yes, SUVs would be better if you have bad road conditions.
The perfect wagon for the dad who enjoys the outdoors on occasion and likes to bring certain materials to the ecocenter.

wagon is only populer in good road condition country,, in US or Asia, most of the road is awful, thats why suv is more popular

Congrats on 200k subscribers - you are one of the only channels (in English) that feature all the wonderful cars coming out of Korea. It's your channel that I first saw the 2023 Genesis G90, and I have been in love with the car ever since (sadly, not available in Canada.... plus I can't afford to spend $130KCAD on a car).
Thank you for the amazing content, and giving people on the other side of the Pacific a glimpse into cars that we wouldn't normally get to see. The shooting break G70 looks really good... arguably better than the Volvo V90 wagon. I hope there is enough demand from the North American market to see the wagon/shooting break style cars brought over.

Congrats on 200k. That is quite the accomplishment. Even more so for a channel dedicated to mostly Korean cars for an English speaking audience. Kirk Kreifels has a channel (US based though) that is dedicated to Asian cars (Japanese, Korean and some Chinese like Volvo/Polestar), so he has enough content for daily videos and he's still a good ways from 200k. Your hard work has paid off. As for the Genesis shooting break, the rear looks surprisingly a lot like the GV60...

100% Wagon/shooting brake fan, wish the US would get more!! If this was already out when we were buying our stinger we'd have this! had 2 e39 wagons before this, never owned a "regular" sedan yet.
G70 Shooting Brake 2.0lt Sport+ with Innovation pack, Sunroof in white on order. should be here in November. I can not wait for it to be a replacement to my 2.0lt Stinger which i love.

This car I believe is on sale in Australia now. Saw a GV70 and G70 first time in the metal in Brisbane. Looked terrific...GV70 was dark blue and G70 silver. Stood out from the Euros for sure. Another quality review Charlie

Same problem here in the US. Everyone is convinced they need some sort of sport utility or crossover utility vehicle. As much as I would make the GV70 or GV80 my first ever suv, this shooting brake would be in my driveway if they ever brought it here.

Outstanding review. I have a request. I would like to see some more details of the seat padding and its width along with the leg room on the reviews. All the gadgets in the world don't help if the driver isn't comfortable. I've had some cars that are very comfortable until you've been driving for a few hours and then your legs, back and bottom are raw. There seems to be a trend in hard seat padding and narrow seats to make room for larger consoles. Thank you for reading my comment.

Hyundai needs to bring the G70 shooting brake to the US. I will certainly change my Stinger for this, however it needs to have 3.3TT.

2022 Genesis G70 Shooting Brake has a sleek look, would compare with BMW, Mercedes & Audi favorably ... Am one who does not like red color anything in a vehicle ... In USA stationwagons/shooting brakes were big in 50's, 60's and 70's ... Early 80's mini vans overshadowed them. And now, suv's/crossovers dominate ... Slainte' ! Cheers !

I definitely like it better than the sedan. I'd call it a hatchback, not a wagon though because a wagon should really have side windows in the cargo area. I like what they're trying with the taillights but think they'd have pulled it off better if the entire top (or bottom) section was the turn signal and the other the stop/tail.

This need to take a debut to the USA shorelines … , I would love to see genesis play around with higher performance numbers and truly take on its potential competitors like BMW’s M , mercs AMG , ect
Probably won't be a thing due to Genesis (and Hyundai and Kia, for that matter) now committing their entire research and development on EV's, so a wagon/estate Genesis EV model seems to be a lot more plausible for the future.
Nice car, finally a wagon. Active sound design: good, but the engine is so loud even if active sound is turned off that they should also offer sort of negative values, meaning active sound cancellation in my opinion. I could imagine that after some time the engine sound could become tormenting.

If this ever does come to the US. It NEEDS the 3.3TT or it will fall flat. E63S, RS6 Avant, etc are not just usable luxury wagons, but they are fast too so having a luxury wagon like the shooting brake with just the 2.0T here would be a waste. Would love if we could get the 3.5T with the EV Supercharger in the G70. All that power shouldn't be locked in just the G90.

That looks very good. Are there any plans for a G70 upgrade ? We’ve had the new model for 1.5y in Canada and am not hearing anything about that model anymore. Will the 2023/2024 use the same 3.3 engine ?
There will be a second and final facelift by 2024 and will use the same powertrain

The shooting brake market is shrinking along with the sedan market, both had been eaten by the fast-rising SUV demands. Also, these fastback/shooting brakes don't have as tall of trunk space for pets unlike SUVs, and also not as big of ground clearance, approaching and departure angle compared to SUVs.
