You (What Car?) deserve a price for testing the Premium version of the GV60! All other reviews I have seen tested the Sport Plus (Performance) version and that one is pricey. My comments as an owner are: The standard leatherette darkgrey-glacierwhite also looks very nice and classy. Saves some pennies, easier to maintain and less cold in winter I think. You did not mention the surround camera in the innovation pack. But I think this is the most valuable option. The car is wide and has a bigger turning circle. The surround camera helps with parking and could prevent some scratches. You made a good choice of SUV car of the year!
Thanks for the review. FYI you don't have to get back in the car and turn it off to unlock the back doors. Believe it or not you just have to press the door 'unlock' button on the driver side door. The door lock feature is a standard Genesis safety feature where the doors lock once you hit set speed, 9mph(15km/h) I think. You can turn it off in settings, or set it to Auto Unlock on Shift to Park, if that's what you like. Like all reviewers if you are going to criticise a perceived issue you really need to understand it and research it just a bit; Least you lose credibility. The driving range on the GV60 is a little below the range on the EV6 because the base GV60 is 100-300kg heavier depending on the EV6 model. You'll also find that Genesis, Hyundai, and Kia do not overstate their EV ranges and that they are quite conservative, at least in countries with sane temperatures, unlike other brands.
Sir how is the vehicle would you recommend it? Is it reliable for u so far and also how/where do u service your GV60 coz I read another comment saying they have only 1 branch near Oxford that's all.
I get his gripe about the doors being locked without hitting the stop button, but after test driving this car to me it’s actually a safety feature (that I commented to my passenger about). If you are sitting in a parking lot etc after driving this car and the car then thinks you want out, all four door handles go into the “flared out” unlocked position. This is easily seen my people on the outside of the car. Someone could see this and take advantage of the situation and get into your car.
We have one of these and although it’s a nice car the support from Genesis simply isn’t there. We had to call their recovery service - outsourced to AA. Their first response on the phone was “what’s a Genesis?”. The work required the car to be taken by a diesel trailer 260 miles away to their single service centre in Bicester, Although the car is pretty much identical underneath to the Kia EV6 and Ioniq 5, Kia and Hyundai dealers can’t work on it (although they do in the US I think) even though taking to a local dealer would be much more environmentally friendly. And it’s going to take over a week just to be told when the parts will be available. They simply don’t seem to have the infrastructure or logistics in place for this car.
Very good point mate, when I made enquiry online about a GV70 cuz it’s gorgeous, I was told everything will be handled online and there won’t be any physical dealership. It just killed my hype, instantly.

I have a GV60 in the white and my partner has the new Ioniq 6, both have the same platform. The Ioniq 6 RWD has a longer range but l just love my GV60.
Locked rear doors - for awareness as I found out the hard way when collecting some friends. The doors auto lock when you set off (you can disable this) - I remember my old Citroen C6 also did this. You can unlock without turning the car off by a lock/unlock pair of switches on the drivers doors bin front of the windows controls. Also found out the car must be in neutral or park to open the boot, you can't pull up, leave the car in drive while using auto-hold. Also worth noting 5 years free servicing, 5 years subsidised Ionity (just 1 year with the I5 and EV6) and 5 years free road side assist.
Great review, and some of the comments are valuable to me as I have just put a deposit down on a Sport today following Kia's inability to supply an EV6 GTLS with Heat Pump, after over a year's wait. Hope Genesis are true to their word and can deliver within 5 months.
@@shaunmckenna1923 Apparently you have to drive the Sport in other than ECO mode otherwise it’s always rear motor the same bhp as the rear wheel drive only Premium but heavier, less range, and probably more cabin noise due to the wider and greater diameter wheels. I didn't buy a MY either because of the removal of ultrasonic parking sensors so I'm currently stuck. First world problems.
Great review , I am now living in Canada i got my GV 60 Advance model here ( sport there ) fantastic car very smooth plenty fast enough the nice thing here in Canada the Advance comes with the premium Napa leather as standard but funny enough not in the US. I have done 8000 miles in 5 months the car has not missed a beat its been in heavy rain and -12c with deep snow and it performs very well , the price maybe a little high , I have the Ioniq5 on order its been 14 months and it keeps getting pushed back i was able to get the GV60 within a week i was happy to pay the higher price its a keeper . I agree with you on the brake peddle and the door locking you get used to it once you catch on. Thanks for the review .
Manufacturers are gouging the market with current EV prices. 50 to 60k is becoming the norm but it ridiculous for a family car. I’m passionate about living a green life and get the argument about lower running cost and maintenance but we’re being ripped off
for me a new ev purchase against what i presently drive , a comfortable family suv type 6 yr old petrol 36mpg real world mixed driving, gets to 60 mph in a satisfactory 9 secs , So i cant see me wanting to find another 50 k sterling at least in a part xchange for a like for like in all electric . More Eco freindly sure , but right now price wise , Rich peoples toys . People say to me you can lease instead but again you are basically doing a long term rental , not worth it for me
When I go shopping, I will want to bring our golf clubs to test the storage space. (I will also want to hold my shopping bags and extra jacket which look like they fit in the front - at least with the one motor version).
Finally a review of the entry level car! Also glad it's up to date with the recent changes re: comfort pack as standard. You didn't mention the innovation pack, not worth it?
My GV60 is a dream to drive, it could do with greater range just as most electric cars could. It really smacks of quality. I had a Tesla prior to this and it really is tacky, I always used to describe it as driving a tablet which needed a head up display. Absolutely no comparison to the Genesis.
Great review and I love this car. Would be very hard to choose between this and an Ioniq 5 or 6 as the group seems to be releasing really strong distinctive cars from all their brands.
I'm looking at an Ioniq5, but the GV60 seems to be a far nicer vehicle, well worth the price difference. Only suspicions I have are about the range, which seems 'middling' for the segment. If I can't get, say, 350kms out of a 20-85% charge for at least a couple of years in a 'stored-outside, Canadian climate' experience.
The trio is a great line-up. But if one is interested in a more luxurious finish with better tech the GV60 does stand-out. Noise cancellation technology, B&O stereo, OTA of not just infotainment but firmware, no piano black in sight all metal fascia and switch gear, electric adjust rake and reach with profile memory, SAT NAV fast-charger destination battery pre-conditioning, automatic bolster adjustment and massage seats, electric thigh extension support, rear side window blinds, foot well lights, ground projected genesis logo puddle lights, metal coats hooks. Three level rear heated seats and the list continues with other minor things.
Probably the best luxury E-CUV you can get - IMO it definitely is. Despite its below-standard acceleration & battery longevity, it's simply a beautiful car inside and out. Especially love the interior with the light brown/white leather. If you want one in Canada, however, you have to wait 2yrs+. The excuses may be valid, but that's the reality now. Give them $80k CDN, and hope battery tech doesn't totally evolve before yours is delivered, lest your investment be obsolete.
I live in Ontario and I ordered mine in June 2023 and picked it up first week of November 2023. The wait list in Ontario is around 5-6 months. It is well worth the wait, a truly stunning car.
@@melaniepilkington5269 Good to know! I was iterating between it and an Ioniq5, but the GV60 is just so much nicer. I keep wondering if I wait another year, the range will improve. I can live with the range it has, I just see it as the only 'con' to this model. I only get about 500kms per 60L tank of gas in my '16 Subaru WRX. I'd be be interested to know how your GV60 does in snow (we get lots of it here on the east coast), and how long it takes to charge it. I'm in an apt building with no chargers so I'd have to make a special trip just to charge it once or twice a week. It takes about 10 mins to pump & pay for 60L of gas, so I don't mind waiting the reported 18 mins (ideal, max charge rate from 20-80%). After 30mins or so it'd become a bit annoying but I'm not THAT lazy. If you have any comments on how things are with your GV60 this winter, I'd be happy to hear about them. Feel free to post them here. Thank you!
I’m biased as I have Hyundai Ioniq 5 Project 45 (launch edition). I couldn’t make the GV60 work. To get a similar spec to my Ioniq, the GV60 was going to be £65k. Which added £200+ / month to my PCP over the 5. So it’s good to have EV choice, but no to GV60
We test drove one. It was fine... But I asked the sales person how much our test car was and it was over £70,000 and it wasn't even the sporty one. This rediculous price coupled with the tiny boot made it a really poor option to replace our model X.
At that price it will have been the Sports+ - Genesis have only been using Premium (with base seats) and Sports+ (with the camera mirrors) as test drive cars, not the Sports.
Indeed the beige floor mats really need protecting in the winter. Alternative all weather rubber mats are not yet available from Genesis in the UK- have seen US ones online but they are obviously left hand drive so not compatible. I’m using makeshift mats - cuttings from some old beige carpet with silver duck tape on the edges not a completely great look for a £60K car but will suffice till the official all weather mats are available.
Hate, the silver reflective finish it reflects the sunlight, a real blinding spot. If you’re heading into the sun, in fact, I’ve covered up the silver foil finish on my Kona for this very reason it’s a curse
Was a concern for me but not missed it. Rain just runs off (the part of the window below the spoiler is useless btw) and when I had a half foot of snow on it there was no issue - I let the pre-conditioning run a couple of times and most melted off before I started ti drive.
Love the car. But the mileage range, for the price you're paying, is not acceptable. YOu live in cold climate and you remove an additional 20%. That makes the range a little more than the Nissan Leaf. Nope. THis needs to have a range around 350....not 250.
The range is disappointing. I contacted Genesis about servicing and they said they would pick up your car from home. As far as I can see (Genesis would not tell me), the service centre is in London! There was a rumour that they were opening in the Midlands in the future? It makes no sense to be picking cars up 200 miles away. I assume they send a trailer? They will need a lot of trailers - I assume they leave you a loan car?? The car looks beautiful!!
@@Smiler7 No clue, not sure how Bicester was picked up. I suspect more will be opened over time as there is at least 1 GV60 up in Scotland. From the forums it appears in the US they are just using Hyundai and Kia garages, but that's causing confusion for the mechanics at those and as a result delays and issues, at least we know it is Genesis specific people working on our cars.
Although at least class level below , the mg4 " out the box new "looks incredible value against the gV 60 . Here in uk could buy 2 Mg 4s for 1 gv 60 along with a bigger network and a longer warranty i beleive . The only thing that does hold buyers back from MG is how well ( electric components and build quality) the vehicle will be in say , 3 yrs onwards down the line .
This reviewer gabbles and drops his voice at end of every sentence which makes him difficult to follow at times. But then all too many do this . However I have just acquired a GV60 Premium and would agree with the verdict. It's 19 inch wheels make it quieter on the road than the more expensive models.
I was scratching my head thinking, _"I've seen an interior like this before!"_ and you hit the nail on the head. The Figaro!! 8-))... Though a tad more _up market_ version of one.
NICE EV , but for money conscious uk buyers might take a look at the new mg 4 trophy at 20 thousand pounds less than the base gv60 , the one shown here is all bells with whistles about 60 k
@@ellisrochlin2267 I'm sure they'll soon get better at making cars and find a suitable balance between reliability, construction techniques, efficiency and profitability.
£50k plus 😢 it needs to be more like £35k let’s be honest. Looks decent enough but with Tesla reducing the price across the board and the model Y now in the mid £40k bracket that’s a hard sell. It definitely looks better than the Y but the Y is miles ahead and now cheaper. While the boring option could be said taking the Y -I’d still take the Y everyday over this.
I won't be buying an EV unless that is the only choice I have, they need to come down drastically in price,I know they are not long out and the prices are high.
Better than an EV6? Hell no. Does it look good? I think it looks good and even quite stylish in its own way. It looks like a cute mouse or small hamster. It’s not for me but I must say, it certainly is much better than Genesis early models with that humungous and repulsively unattractive SUV. They are doing much better.
Interior is a different league, It's Lexus levels. In many respects Hyundai Group seem to be aligning the cars with Ioniq 5 for practical family car, EV6 for the sporty car, and GV60 for the luxury car.
It’s a horrendous looking thing, my fellow Director has one, there is absolutely no dealership, and interior is chintzy to say the least...it’s absolutely no Bentley...if you want to feel like a Dame Edna Everage or a pimp it’s for you...only plus points when I drove it was Climate control physical...fantastic and sound system
I don’t think you should be encouraging people to ‘upgrade’ to animal skin materials which are worse for sustainability etc. Please take a lead from one of your RUclips competitors in this: Autogefuhl downgrades cars that offer leather interiors. No point buying an electric car and killing several cows to make the seats.

Hate, the silver reflective finish it reflects the sunlight, a real blinding spot. If you’re heading into the sun, in fact, I’ve covered up the silver foil finish on my Kona for this very reason it’s a curse
Rear wiper?
Was a concern for me but not missed it. Rain just runs off (the part of the window below the spoiler is useless btw) and when I had a half foot of snow on it there was no issue - I let the pre-conditioning run a couple of times and most melted off before I started ti drive.
It's nonsense. No need for. Anywhere.
But why does it still have a 'start' button? Key in car, foot on brake is all that's needed.
Love the car. But the mileage range, for the price you're paying, is not acceptable. YOu live in cold climate and you remove an additional 20%. That makes the range a little more than the Nissan Leaf. Nope. THis needs to have a range around 350....not 250.
they should have launched genesis as an all electric brand
The range is disappointing.
I contacted Genesis about servicing and they said they would pick up your car from home.
As far as I can see (Genesis would not tell me), the service centre is in London!
There was a rumour that they were opening in the Midlands in the future?
It makes no sense to be picking cars up 200 miles away.
I assume they send a trailer?
They will need a lot of trailers - I assume they leave you a loan car??
The car looks beautiful!!
Service centre is in or near Bicester on a secured industrial estate.
Sorry should add, yes they leave you with a free loan car as well.
@@dapprman 166 miles from my house.🥺
Do you know if they are opening any more centres?
@@Smiler7 No clue, not sure how Bicester was picked up. I suspect more will be opened over time as there is at least 1 GV60 up in Scotland. From the forums it appears in the US they are just using Hyundai and Kia garages, but that's causing confusion for the mechanics at those and as a result delays and issues, at least we know it is Genesis specific people working on our cars.
@@dapprman Polestar seem to have designated Volvo garages to do the servicing, so I assume they have trained personnel
to do the job.
It makes sense.
Expected delivery Q2 2023 .
Love my EV6 GT ❤❤
6:55 let me guess... still no wireless Android Auto in 2023?
V2L free on an MG4 which is about £30k cheaper
Although at least class level below , the mg4 " out the box new "looks incredible value against the gV 60 . Here in uk could buy 2 Mg 4s for 1 gv 60 along with a bigger network and a longer warranty i beleive .
The only thing that does hold buyers back from MG is how well ( electric components and build quality) the vehicle will be in say , 3 yrs onwards down the line .
I'm not so keen on the looks or price, EV6 or Ioniq 5 are much better options in my opinion
Gv60 has way better quality and interior and more luxurious
This reviewer gabbles and drops his voice at end of every sentence which makes him difficult to follow at times. But then all too many do this . However I have just acquired a GV60 Premium and would agree with the verdict. It's 19 inch wheels make it quieter on the road than the more expensive models.
Cracking car👍
Your right it does look like a jelly mold and the interior is strangely remincent of a Nissan Figaro...
Not sure the Chinese state owned MG has the reliability or build quality sorted yet.
@@grahamtuck6959 Thats true to a point. Along with the smear of being communist state-owned. Politics ay !
@@ellisrochlin2267 I'm sure they'll soon get better at making cars and find a suitable balance between reliability, construction techniques, efficiency and profitability.
Nice 👍🏼
Hyundai is making stunning cars!
Can't wait for am affordable electric hothatch to come out... driving is fastly becoming a rich man's game..
The ID2 will solve this problem!
If anyone is monitoring the comments for this channel you might want to update your spam filters to clear out the bots.
On it - Thanks!
If this is a "jelly mold", what is the Tesla Model Y ? 😂😂😂
You’re so deep
I would buy a Genesis over a Tesla in a heartbeat. The pictures/videos don't do it any justice
As a kia owner, my (I wish) £50k+ would go on he EV6
To expensive everything is an option and again a white interior is a no!
Now around £25k used.. bargain!
I won't be buying an EV unless that is the only choice I have, they need to come down drastically in price,I know they are not long out and the prices are high.
I know it's not really important at all but that Genesis logo is really horrible
Can't comment on the cars/vehicles of the year awards videos..
That's really f##### annoying... i don't agree with any of them.
It's the interior that put me off these, chintzy at best. Bought an EV6 instead.
Ridiculous how they keep pushing these cars as eco friendly. The poor kids in Congo mining the cobalt in flip flops prove it isn't.
Oh ffs 🤦♂️
56k for those wheels? Lol
Starts at £53K ? Oh dear. I think Tesla's recent price cuts just killed this car 😞.
So, it's like an EV6 but more expensive and with less space. That makes perfect sense.
Interior is a different league, It's Lexus levels. In many respects Hyundai Group seem to be aligning the cars with Ioniq 5 for practical family car, EV6 for the sporty car, and GV60 for the luxury car.
@@dapprman if luxury means tacky then yeah the Genesis is luxury
@@gordonmccartney5648 It's not more "luxury" than Ionic 6?
Those wheels and the overall styling is tacky for a car in this price sector
There is no rear wiper.
Terrible
Yawn
I mean the problem is that it looks so cheap. The Hyundai I6 and Kia EV6 look better.
Its ugly the ev6 looks better
I think the opposite. Ioniq 5 (and 6), EV6 or GV60. You pay your money and you take your choice.
Not for me. Honking looks and over fifty thousand pounds.😂😂😂
The leather smells so good though!
Cows are not specifically slaughtered for leather, it's a by product from meat. If you are vegan/vegetarian, that's a different story.
Not everyone has your beliefs accept that and move on.
Biggest environmental problem is Humans I assume in your virtual signalling your committing to having no children to protect the planet from the CO2 they will create?
@Daniel Pejic Commenting when not having a clue. Seat option with Napa leather is made from calves, lambs, and kid goats. Only the basic version is made of artificial leather.
Oh relax with ur different beliefs and preaching
What’s this obsession with buttons ,? I’m not 70 ,we live in an age of voice controls , you can set everything from voice commands, temperature , speed , hazards , music , wipers , buttons are for old farts and folk who can’t move into the next century
This is one ugly car. Atleast this one in the review is.
So let me think. Buy one Genesis or two model Y.
....And devide yourself. ALL Ev's are too expensive today - Just wait.
